New CAT/Navistar International On Highway & Vocational trucks
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Interestingly enough, diecast and plastic "models" of the new Caterpillar CT660 truck will be available in the next couple of months: -
In case you weren't aware, there will be a new player on the streets this summer in the on-highway and vocational truck markets: Caterpillar has decided to partner with Navistar International to offer two on-highway trucks, the CT610 and CT630 (basically rebadged Intertnational tucks) and for the vocational market (construction, garbage/refuse, mixers, logging, etc) there will be the CAT-designed CT660 class 8 truck: CT610: based on the International DuraStar: CT630: based on the International ProStar: CT660 based on the International PayStar: These were introduced at the Conexpo-Con/Agg construction industry conference in Las Vegas back in March. The truck will be sold exclusively through Cat's North American dealer network, with orders accepted starting in April and should be available by the 3rd quarter of the year. The next version to be offered will be the CT680, a set-forward-axle version of this truck, which should be available in 2013. Looks like Cat is going after Mack and Peterbilt here.

Some cars from the end of last week & weekend... This Saab is in the parking lot of my job and I find it very attractive: A 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Sedan that my step-son saw for sale and wanted to see (owner is asking $4,800 for a car with cloth and 157k): A car I haven't seen in like forever: a '90s Lumina Z-34 Coupe that was in very good shape (seen @ a Wegman's store lot): And lastly, on mother's day @ my parents, noticed my parent's neighbor, who happens to own a beautifully restored, fuel injected 283 C.I. V8 engined '57 Chevy Bel Air hardtop coupe, traded in his barely used 2010 Chevy Silverado LT 2WD Extended Cab for this:

72 gmc pick-up 4x4 clean - $9200 (Levittown)

72 gmc pick-up 4x4 clean - $9200 (Levittown) http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2302573649.html Pretty much my ideal '72 GMC pickup... though I'd want the two-tone white in the middle of the body. Looks great for an almost 40 year old truck, too bad it's way out of my price range. -
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2343647161.html BTW, that's no '59 (single headlights)... looks like a '57 to me Hood is easily replacable, and cabs have been on CL off and on. I just may have to call the seller asking about his price...

I, for one, have always liked the Ford Excursion and known of a couple of people that owned one (and for good reasons, family hauling AND either horse trailer or large boat towing needs). In addition, the county I live in has a HAZMAT Team that is headquartered in my town and they own a fleet of dark blue Ford Excursions that respond to hazardous materials calls (accidents, etc). I feel Ford failed with these trucks because they were trying to top the age old and reliable Chevrolet/GMC Suburbuan by basing their version off the Super Duty truck rather than the civilian F-150 series. Of course they backed down and offered this: To which I don't see many on the roads (more regular Expeditions than the XL ones).

GM Puts Production Cuts For Pickups Under Consideration
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I agree with you dfelt, the last thing we need right now is another "Truck Month" fire sale on GM's full-size pickups. With the gas price where it is, it's better to be lean than fat right now with these trucks. Keep dealer "sold" orders open though, because some customers have to have theirs built a special way. -

I don't know Camino, this one looks promising too... http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2316488320.html Something inside is telling me that I should go and look at the one you posted. While I prefer the '67/'68 frontend styling of this generation, this '72 is calling to me. I haven't been able to take my eyes off of it today - it's been up on my screen at work since this morning. -

Pretty sweet looking truck... and Telford isn't too far from me I wonder what the condition is? Body mounts sounds kinda extreme, especially for a Suburban. Of course if I bought it, with my teaching background, I'd have to get COOLBUS as the license plate -
If it is, it would be the first time "officially" released by Lucas. I was a mere 3 years old when it was shown in 1978, so if I watched it I don't remember it. I've seen very cheesy bootlegged copies at toy shows, and have seen parts of it on YouTube a couple years back. George Lucas does not like that show andI doubt very much it will be included, though the article above does say various SW spoofs are to be included (and I'm sure Lucas thinks that show is a "spoof"). On another SW-related note, I will be travelling to Orlando, FL in 19 days (5/23-27)for a brief 5-day family vacation in Walt Disney World. It was timed to coincide with the opening of the new Star Tours 2.0 ride opening in Disney Hollywood Studios

Some light upgrades to my 2011 Camaro
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
The original Gold Bowtie on the 2011 Camaro is just plastic, I had GM send me metal Black and Green bowties, then decided I liked the green better. GM also sent me the Camaro letters in Black metal which is what you see on the side of my car, all after market lettering was plastic that I found online, and it looked cheap, which is why I had GM send me black metal lettering ... It must be very nice to have such great connections! -
Yeah, I agree with you. The '99-'08 Super Duty are good looking trucks. We also have two slightly older Ford ambulances (2003 and 2006), and have just been awarded money from the township council for a new 3rd ambulance since we have an agreement for shared services with the next town (Eastampton) for EMT calls. I asked and of course they said they're getting a new Ford ambulance (my goal is to get them to consider other brands, like GM and Dodge). More than likely this is what we'll get: Our colors are white over fluorescent yellow: Although I'd love to see these considered:

No, not teaching anymore since I was laid off last June and was unable to find another teaching position by September. I've been a contingent worker (aka "temp") with my wife's pharmaceutical company since early October, and hopefully the project I am working on will go permanent this summer and I get offered a full-time job. Otherwise, temp it will be for now (there's even more lay-offs this year in teaching, so who knows if that will be an option too?). I do have a 2nd P/T job (originally just a seasonal holiday job), working retail at a local Toys R Us store. I took it for the holidays to earn extra $$$ for shopping, but they asked me to stay on after the season (only work Sundays, but added a couple of Saturdays this month). I put in my notice and my last day there is Sat. 5/7 since I was promoted in my pharma job that came with a 27% pay increase Fire Police are the members of a fire department that go on location with the firefighters/EMTs and basically do three things - (1) protect the firefighters/EMTs on scene, (2) protect the public from danger, and lastly (3) preserve evidence at the scene. Most calls that my dept's fire police respond to are vehicle accidents, and it's our job to set-up cones/detours and direct, or re-direct, traffic around the accident scene. On occasion I've been told that we will also respond to structure fires to detour roads, but also guard a structure after the fire is extinguished until the fire marshal has completed his investiagtion (in NJ, the fire chief or marshal "own" your property until 48 hours have passed since the fire was put out or until the investigation has beem completed; as long as a member of the dept is on property, the fire dept owns it - usually fire police are the ones left in this duty). We also assist traffic duty at community events, setting up crosswalks and directing people to parking areas. A lot of calls the dept gets are for traffic accidents right off the NJ Turnpike (Exit 5) or Route I-295 (Exits 45 & 47) in Westampton, Burlington County - I know, it's like the old Jersey joke, "What exit do you live off of?" Not a glamorous job compared to what the firefighters and EMTs do, but at my station all the volunteers get along well and treat one another with respect. We all have a job to do and respect what each brings to the table. There are a lot of members that are not from my town that belong there, because this comaderie doesn't exist at their hometown station (from what I've been told). I joined because I wanted to give back to my commnity in a way that didn't involve <direct> politics

GM Won't Bump Up Release Of Next Generation Pickups

+1 I totally agree with Dodgefan's point above, and even mentioned that in my post as one of the holes in the current truck line-up.
