  1. But the sales come from the DTS, STS and CTS. You don't think it is wrong to have a better transmission in a Saturn than a Cadillac?
  2. I always have a touch of heartburn when other GM lines other than Cadillac get a new technology like that. Can you imagine MB putting the seven speed on the Magnum before the 7 Series? That is how you make the lux cars worth the lux dollars!!!!!!!! Caddy should always be a year or 2 ahead of the others. I hate articles that say, ????? is not available on the Caddy, but you can get it on a Mailbu or other GM vehicle. For example remote start on the Mailbu, before the SRX.
  3. This will still probably allow GM to have a higher transaction price than before. Should shape up duite well for GM.
  4. I definitely like the sounds of the new tranny, as an old Hydramatic guy it brings a tear to my eyes. Take that auto critics!!!!!!!!
  5. How can you says the STS needs a refresh already? Have you compared STS sales to Seville sales over the previous couple of years? The Seville was lucky to break 1000 units in most months, while the STS is a consistent 2200+ player. As for the SRX, I am not sure what anyone at GM was smoking when they talked about 60k per year. I said it then, that is an unrealistic goal. The SRX has settled in right with the competition (X5 and M Class) and double the Touareg. I think to ask for anything more right now is a bit much.

    ....

I am wondering if they are going to go with a pop up unit or begin to replace nav with the new Onstar Turn by Turn.
  7. As was pointed out in the truck forum, the Vibe is from Nummi and the Matrix is from Canada. But the NUMMI plant also builds the Corolla and the Tacoma. I am not sure how their quality is rated. I took this article as being a great example of the way the media can skew things and can make a point without giving all the details. Why didn't they use a Vibe instead of a Matrix? Why didn't they state that as an added bonus for those that want to buy American the same vehicle can be had from Pontiac, even if the reference was only made in passing. I have always felt that if you were to take esentially identical vehicles and slap different badges on them, bias would come into play. It happened with the Nova/Corolla and it happens with the Vibe/Matrix. When the V/M debuted, the Vibe was generally considered to be a bit nicer looking that the Matrix. Plus, we all know you can probably get a better deal at a Pontiac dealership 9 out of 10 times. But alas, Matrix soldiers on and the Vibe reduces to one trim level. This should teach GM, you can not match the competition you better out gun them by a mile.
  8. I think it is still one of Cadillacs best commercials ever, sorry they changed direction so fast. MB has taken that feel with their new commerical that shows all the heritage MB's racing.
  9. In the latest Motor Trend, they do a king of bling competition between the new Esc ($66k) and the $93k as tested supercharged Range Rover. They tested the vehicles in there regular mode (performance, fit and finish etc) and then looked that the bling factoer (wheel size, chrome, side vents, TV's, nav screen size). The Escalade was definitely the perofmance king in every category except braking and off road ability. They were also quite pleased with the ride and handling inspite of the 22 inch wheels. They gave high marks to the interior and design. All in all the Escalade seemed to be the hands down winner even when price was not taken into consideration. They mentioned that they could have tested a more Escalade priced HSE ($76k) model, but that would probably have been too easy of a win for the Escalade. Bring on the big Lexus LX470 and all other comers.
  10. I was thinking the same thing as FOG, here in the north Dallas area I see quite a few of them and the drivers generally seem to be in the 20's range. They would seem to be doing pretty well here.
  11. I love the limited addition concept, continues to boost a cult limited edition feel for the car. Scion has started to do what Satrun had for GM with a family, club feel for it's owners.
  12. I really want to see how the mags review this car. I am definitely not a fan of the design and I hope GM does look at it as a design how to. Does the gear shift lever look angled and off center on the vertical? Do all cars look that way? I don't sit in back much lol
  13. When does the ding dang Aura hit the showrooms, getting tired of waiting!!!! Got a Saab 9-5 that comes off lease this year and I am trying to push my wife towards Aura as she does not like the 9-5 redesign.
  14. http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/10/Autos/plug...rtune/index.htm Here is a quick little article comparing the fortunes of Caddy and Lincoln. Also a link to Edmunds view of the future Cadillacs and Lincolns. Which engine will the Hybrid Escalade have?
  15. So it is going to have a significantly different body also? Wow, that will be interesting to say the least.
  16. That is awesome, what applications will that engine show up in next? HHR, Cobalt?
  17. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...UTO01/603130344 M-B is aiming at the Escalade with an oversized M Clas called the GL. I do not think this is the one to woory about, but an AMG GL, hmmmmm? We need a true Escalade Platinum Edition which is what the SUV V Series should be in my opinion.
  18. I think this was mentioned a couple of months ago, when GM reported the STS-V numbers under the new plan. Wonder how the auto mags will feel about this :-> I bet they (Japanese makers) get a pass. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...UTO01/603130350
  19. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...PDATE/603130403 Is this why GM and Sube fell out?
  20. How much of a change will the Germans have to make to their engines to make them US compliant?
  21. Weight distribution maybe?

    BLS Review

He did not love it, but at least he and hopefully others on the continent will also pull for Caddy. Not bad for a place holder, reminds me of the reviews for the Catera back when.
  23. But the question would be, would it end up over priced like the current GTO? If they make it in the US, maybe not, but if they import from Aus, we know how that turns out.
  24. I think that is real nice, should go up against the Acura and lower level Lexus (300) real well. I think it will also serve as a good intro into the Caddy family. A good place holder until the new BLS comes and the CTS grows, they will need something small to battle the IS, C Series and others.
  25. I have got to believe there are going to be some pretty major powertrain differences in some cases. Opel/Vauxhaul has some pretty small engines in the Astra, all are 2.0 (1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and diesels) or under if I am not mistaken. Or else Satun owners will have to get used to low displacement high reve engines.
