One of my buds who is an editor over at Automobile.com snagged this when he landed in LA the other day. I thought it was a great shot and I asked him if I could share it with you guys.

that would be the second time in as many months that Mark chided GMI for something on twitter so directly. -

yes, GM cars, particularly the Epsilon platform, need to get themselves back over to Jenny Craig really fast. I really hope Alpha is just the first in a long line of lightweight cars from GM. Drive the Regal GS first before you insist on a V6. I think you'd find pretty quickly it doesn't need it, just turn up the Turbo a bit, because a big heavy V6 will just throw the excellent balance out of wack. -
Always the one to be practical, wasn't there a 442 Wagon or am I being fooled by clones? If there was, that'd be my choice.

I'm not, it just isn't something that impresses me. How about this: It's an Olds, so therefore it doesn't need improving. Preserving yes.

I do like the Olds, but they are bordering on too custom for my tastes. I'm an originalist.

God no... all of that weight in the nose would screw up the balance of one of the best balanced FWD vehicles available. If you want over 300hp, the 2.0 Ecotec turbo can already offer that, GM certified. But then the Regal has the same engine as a $50k Cadillac XTS. What GM has created by making Cadillac a V6 brand, is that Buick becomes a 4-cylinder brand. Wouldn't surprise me if even the Lacrosse loses the V6 in favor of a turbo four on the next redesign. I have a feeling GM is going to put eAssist on everything and just make people buy it. Cruze will get it, Equinox, Enclave, CTS, etc. GM's 2011 CAFE number was 32 mpg for cars and 23 mpg for light trucks. By 2025 they need to get to 54 mpg, get ready for a lot of eAssist fours, and no V8s. You're kind of close. eAssist will be available in every Buick eventually. -
Willy's was one?

If you're in the market for a micro car, why not this over an iQ or a SMART? The only other thing I see competing with the Spark might be the 500, but even then, it's more expensive.

I don't mind eAssist being an option, but the 2.4 or 2.5 should have remained as base. -
Cutlass of course

At 116 ft3 the Lacrosse is EPA size rated as a mid-size while the XTS (about the same inside as the Impala) is rated 122 ft3 or full size but you are correct about the Honda Accord. It is EPA size rated at 121 ft3 The minimum to be considered full size is 120 ft3

I need to look into this company more ... while not at work. -
I'm not disagreeing with your methods, I'm simply pointing out what GM is already working on.

Buick is trying to do what Mercury tried but failed at. And that's ok. Just because Mercury failed, doesn't mean Buick will. For one, the Buick versions of each car are different enough that a person couldn't just go over to a Chevy dealer and get the identical car. There won't be a Chevy version of the Encore in the states, the Verano is different enough with better levels of equipment and engines than the Cruze, Regal v. Malibu is no comparison for someone looking for a premium sedan and the same goes for Enclave v. Traverse. The only one that concerns me is Lacrosse v. Impala, but I expect we will be seeing a newly refreshed Lacrosse very soon.

The only thing I could see working out for Saab is if this here deal turned into a back door way for Saab to be acquired by Youngman.
