  1. and it won't have the equipment or engine of the $29,995 Verano Turbo, so it won't be a direct comparison.
  2. Is there any real difference between MyLincolnTouch and MyFordTouch?
  3. I don't compare by HP alone... any engine can produce 100 hp/liter if you spin it fast enough. A 6.2 liter pushrod will produce a much more satisfying torque curve than than a 4.0 liter DOHC assuming both use the same type of aspiration. One of the things I like most about the Chrysler Hemi V8 is the effortless woosh of power that comes on at very low RPM.
  4. Now see, if they stuck with Benz, they could have limos all the way from an A-Class up through S-Class, and then Sprinter, and full size busses, and could even get into garbage pickup service as well
  5. You'll have a real hard time getting out of the Cadillac dealership with an ATS for $29k... and even then you still won't have a manual transmission.
  6. I wonder if this mostly applies to people who are rolling over their AltiCamCord lease on a new one.
  7. Every time I've had one I've blasted right through the EPA highway rating like it was an expired condom.....
  8. Without looking, I'm going to guess the Lexus ES is the highest volume luxury model.
  9. Hasn't anyone else noticed a problem with two of the cars meeting the selection criteria? I'm not referring to the captive imports either.... Edit: Woops, OCN noticed it.
  10. Everyone is going to need to play in the arena eventually, so might as well start now.
  11. LeSabre T-Type or if I'm on a budget, Firenza
  12. There is just nothing good here. How can it be so hard to fix Lincoln!?
  13. Sounds like they are doing the best with a bad situation and keeping right with the customers.
  14. Still looks too "Honda" to me. At least the Verano looks more than a Cruze with a different grill insert.
  15. That's no 155 mile car. It could be the cleanest 100,155 mile omega out there though.
  16. S40? TSX? New Beetle? A4? Mini-Cooper S? Jetta GLI?
  17. Na, the Sonata is too loud inside compared to the Verano.
  18. We are currently on our way to Ann Arbor in the 2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI we are reviewing. My first four days with the Passat in swamped and gridlocked Pittsburgh driving netted me 26.9 mpg. While that is lower than the EPA city rating, all non-hybrids get 0 miles per gallon while idling in traffic. Over the next three days, we will be doing almost exclusively highway cruising across Northern Ohio and up into Michigan. You have two chances to win one or two of two $10 fuel gift cards. Your first chance is by guessing my fuel economy on tonight's trip (Pittsburgh to Ann Arbor) without going over. You get a second guess for the fuel economy for my trip from Port Huron Michigan to Pittsburgh PA on Monday evening. Winners will be announced Tuesday, August 14th at 12pm Eastern time. To enter, simply reply in the comments of this thread with your two guesses. For example "Friday= 48.9mpg, Monday = 43.2mpg". Here are the rules: You must be a registered user of CheersandGears.com to enter, guest posts are disqualified. You can sign up easily clicking this link and even use your Facebook or Twitter account to speed things along. No purchase or paid subscription is necessary to win. Entries are taken in the order the server time stamps them. If two people guess the same number, the number with the earliest date/time stamp wins. Volkswagen of America is not in any way affiliated with this contest aside from providing the test vehicle. Entries must be received by 9 am Eastern, August 14th, 2012 Good Luck!
  19. We're going to have two quick contests on this one. Price is Right style: Guess my fuel economy for the weekend and win a $10 fuel gift card. Tonight, I'm driving from Pittsburgh to Ann Arbor - Guess my fuel economy to the nearest 10th of a gallon without going over to win. Monday night I'm driving from upper-mid-state Michigan back to Pittsburgh. Same deal. Label your guesses as "Monday:" and "Friday:" You can submit your guess for both. We will have a thread in about an hour for you to put your guesses in.
  20. .... because the engine is the only criterion in determining the value of the car.... Actually for me, that would make the choice rather easy. The Verano is a better car and you give up almost nothing in interior room or cargo space.
  21. In 1981, when they came out, the Aries and Reliant were great cars. I don't know about the flex you're talking about, but in the 8 years my Aries was in my family, it was a spectacular car. Granted, mine was an anomaly, but not radically so. In 1981, the K-Car (all three body styles, including my 2-door sedan) were considered to be relatively attractive. I, personally, think the Aries/Reliant (all body styles) have aged better than, say, a Skylark/Omega (either body style). Okay Hudson... I love ya and you're a long-timer here... but you have got to share whatever it is you are smoking....
  22. No, it was an error in conversion... I don't know if they ever published a retraction.
  23. The Pentastar is an awful lot of engine for this car....
