  1. The Market huh? So if I tell you you're worth 8 bucks an hour, you'll take it?

    It's all about demand and supply, it's your responsibility to supply a skill that is in demand. Take ma as an example, I have a skill that pays more than 8 bucks so I would refuse your offer because the market is willing to pay me more than that.

    What if they can't afford to aquire those skills?

    There are jobs for people with no skills too, you just have to be realistic about what you're worth. That's where the problem starts, when people with High school diploma or less expects to be paid $60k a year.

    What about families?
    I can tell some of you don't have kids then....
    kinda sad if a family is going to live on 28k...

    There is nothing sad about it, if a family with two working adults is living on 28k it's their own fault.
  2. every frickin year i go into best buy and look at new car radios for kicks.  Pioneer, Alpine, all those guys, they come up with new designs each year.  What kills me is that the bottom end Pioneer that sells for like 120 bucks has a much higher quality faceplate, display, and buttons than even the best stereos on even some of the most expensive GM cars.

    And they can afford to redesign and add features and update them every year and still sell them for peanuts.

    Yet, if you ever have to replace a factory radio in your car they try to tell you its like 500 bucks to do it.

    GM, Ford, whoever, must be spending like 5 bucks each on radios because of the complete POS these things are.  The handheld LED football game I played when i was a kid and i paid like 18 bucks for back in 1981 or whenever had MUCH BETTER display, much better faceplate, and higher quality buttons.

    I CAN'T FRICKING BELIEVE IT WILL PUT GM INTO BANKRUPTCY TO MAKE A CAR STEREO AND CLIMATE CONTROL WITH EQUAL QUALITY TO EVEN THE MOST BASIC AFTERMARKET CAR STEREO.

    How fricking pathetic is it to have to see garbage like the climate control and stereo in a Malibu or G6.  A group of 20 people labored hours and hours at the behest of some stuffy ass beancounter to see how cheap they could make one million of the cheapest looking radios with super cheesy buttons that no one wants to touch or look at and has no business being forced to compete with nice looking units in the Accord and stuff.

    Even look at the radio in the new Impala.  It is a definite upgrade FOR GM.  It is bordering the bounds of acceptable.  It still don't win no prize for being a super quality looking piece.  It still has a cheesy look to it.  Ford's current radio bunch looks DAMN cheap.  Ford's radio are unacceptable.

    Would it really mean the end of the earth as we know it if Saturn redesigned the door panels in the Ion to have a decent design and reasonable looking plastic?

    Did chevy have to use that cheap horrific looking cloth in the their new Malibus for like 3 years?

    How many million of those awful miserable cheap ass T-bar shifters has Pontiac put in their cladmonsters in the 90's and early 00's?  ARRRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok, that's enough, I need to go f-ing smack something before I stroke out

    Oh my god, best post ever. :)
  3. So you would rather live in a world that controls you, telling you what you are worth. With your bosses telling you what you can do to succeed, etc?

    The market should decide how much somebody is worth. If you're not happy with what the market is willing to pay you acquire a skill that pays more.

    Boy. I should take a lesson in Bowtie_dude 101 cause it sounds like you sure have a firm grasp of what's going on today.

    maybe you should.
  4. For christ's sake do you want to talk race engines? This discussion was not about over the top $2,000,000 engines made to run 6 hours between breakdowns. Your mentioning of race engines this or that is irrelevant, we're talking production. Production V8s. Otherwise I'll start talking about the Oldsmobile/Cadillac No.Star's racing success and how a smallblock pushrod Chevy enigne has kicked DOHC hi tech junk at 24 hours of Rolex, LeMans and on the street...  <_<

    Racing is used by manufacturers to showcase their engineering capabilities. If you can design a V10 engine spinning at 20000 RPM what makes you think that the same engineers couldn't design a nice V8 4.5L spinning at 6500 RPM(just an example). All I'm trying to say is that Honda not having a V8 engine is not due to their inability to make one. It's just a business decision. I don't even care if it's right or wrong decision. But, based on their market success they had their share of correct business decisions.
  5. We can talk about 1000 horsepower Porsche 917s and 1500hp Viper dragsters wiht NOS, twin turbos and powerglide trans... let's not talk race cars. That's irrelevant and stupid.

    I'm pretty sure I could make a 5.7 SBC pump out 900 natrually aspired Horsepower for short money but it's not in a production car. Honda told McLaren they COULDN'T produce a V12 with the specs they were looking for. It was "impossible" esp. for the budget and deadline.

    BMW took on the assignment, made a ground up new DOHC V12 and oevrdelivederd the HP while coming ahead f schedule, under wieght and within Budget.

    Moral of the story: Honda is full of bullcrap and has an inflated ego. Meantime I'd like a M3 so I could embarass a few NSXs at an SCCA meet.

    Do you know with which engine manufacturer Mclaren dominated the F1 for years a decade ago?
  6. It certainly does mean that. Because while they may sink a few million (read: 10 or 15) it will begin to recoup that with every sale of the new model they get.

    Toyota already makes their money off of reusing parts, platforms, etc. If they can do this in their entire line in 12 months that's huge.

    [post="14993"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Even Toyota couldn't afford changing models every 2 years.
  7. The McLaren F1 is proof that Honda is full of Hot Air and BMW is much superior in real world numbers.

    Money talks and bullshit walks.

    Honda is the most over rated manufacturer in the world!

    [post="14414"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Honda F1 V10 3.0 NA engine is well above 900 hp so I'm sure they know a thing or two about making a good engine. BTW, it takes much more than a good engine to be successfull in F1.
  8. Wow that's heavy: a THM400 with converter & partial fluid weighs 185 lbs. Wonder what the DCX 7-spd weighs?
    I don't believe co-development of a component would test any anti-monopoly laws.

    [post="4764"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    If two companies control 70-80% of market co-developing anything will bring government's attention real quick.
  9. ...but you're member # 55???  :P

    Sorry, I couldn't help it.

    Posaune is still Posaune....I think :huh:
