  1. I was at the auto show today and I have to say the new Camry is disappointing, especially the sporty version. I'm sure the drivetrain is first class but overall exterior design is disappointing, it looks even worse in person than on pictures. The interior is nothing to brag about and IMHO it still is not as good as Accord's interior.

    Also,

    Escalade-awesome inside and out

    Ford Edge-very nice inside and out, should sell well

    Lincoln MKX(Aviator)-nice but not worth $5-6K? over the Edge

    Lincoln MKS(concept)-cool car, it got the potential.

    Camaro and Challenger-build them and they'll come.

  2. FOG, you're trying harder to find a flaw in this review than any member of the media has ever tried to find a flaw in a car or truck from GM.  And the "bias" you do find is such a stretch no rational person would buy into your view of it.  Get some meds man, its getting old.

    X2

  3. Who cares about the cost per gallon of diesel. What you need to look at is the cost per MILE to run the car.

    You take a gasoline Benz E320. I'll take a diesel Benz E320cdi. We each get $20 for fuel. Which one of us will go further on that $20?

    How much more would the E320cdi cost to buy?
  4. Hey guys, this is a tech section, not a sales and marketing forum!

    Get back to the basic question, which was about engineering and manufacturing cost!

    [post="52976"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    My post was about manufacturing cost.
  5. You make a good point. Now the LS1 would have been last years CTS-V engine though wouldnt it ? 350hp ?

    No doubt in my mind they would see better profit on that LS1.

    [post="52923"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    The LS6 was in the CTS-V.
  6. How about this, lets say that HF 3.6 V6 and LS1 V8 cost the same to build(I know the LS1 is not made anymore). IIRC the CTS's base MSRP with the 3.6 and automatic is about $35.8K. So, take the LS1 and put it in the CTS and charge only $1k extra(to cover for better brakes and suspension upgrade). Nobody could complain that the Cadillac is using "old tech" engine because it would be up to the customers to pick a DOHC engine with less power or an LS1 with more power for about the same money. Cadillac would own the market while still making the same profit per sold CTS as they already do. Selling 100K CTS's a year would be a piece of cake.
  7. If you're buying a car with the intention on keeping it for a long, long time, 0% is the way to go.

    Our Bonneville is a few months from payoff - that's five years at 0% interest. Worked out for us.

    It depends on your down payment, it's not that hard to figure out which option saves you more money.
  8. I dont understand why it would sound burdoned or loud ? whats CTS weight ?

    [post="52203"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Although the 3.6 engine in my 06 CTS is light years ahead of the 3.2 engine that was in my 03 CTS it's still nowhere near to some of the competition when it comes to NVH. With the 2.8 being from the same family I can see somebody thinking it's too loud.
  9. You bring up a valid argument, and I do agree with you. Thanks for the input. I believe the solution is for the UAW to invest their strike fund in GM common stock. With over a billion in cash available, do you suppose an investment of that magnitude would entitle them to representation?

    [post="49086"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Anybody owning almost 10% of a company should be represented on the board.
  10. Time for the union to take a stand. I say strike until Wagoner is replaced and the union is given Board representation. In exchange, relinquish the jobs bank. If the UAW approaches this correctly, they can earn public support, solidify a future for the membership, and strengthen General Motors in the process.

    Board representation? Why don't they use their money to buy a 10% stake in GM, if they want Board representation. This company is so screwed, it's next to impossible to fire a worker, and now they should get Board representation too. Communism at it's best.
