  1. Bill = Buick.....typo
  2. I want a new SAAB Sonett, Olds vert, Buick vert, hybrid cars, hydrogen cars, 6 speed automatics, and on, and on, and on..........but the truth is that GM does not have the cash to help everyone at once. SAAB is just easier to fix and get on its feet than Buick. Remember SAAB only had 2 cars a few years ago, and they were old, old, designs. They are doing much better now, even with the rebadges. They wil do better if they bring over Euro-cars, which will be cheaper than helping Buick RIGHT NOW. Bill will, and is (Lucrene) getting help, it will just take time. Trust me, if GM had Toyota cash, we would be driving everything stated above right now, plus have a full line of world class Buicks...............but the sad truth is they don't. So right now we just have to embrace the Lucrene and wait for our (Buick Fans) day to come.
  3. I mean on the exterior. I think the interior looks great too!
  4. True.............but I wonder how the Escalade will look then. Hmmmm...... All in all this Chevy looks great, and I think GM is getting its groove back.
  5. I think with all of the unseen euro-imports, SAAB will be easier (and cheaper) to fix than Buick. Buick needs some deeper work to come out of their slump. I agree with people though that Buick needs a resurgance. The Buick vert is not a bad idea though, with some work.
  6. Well, I think Buick is important for the future of the GM lineup, but GM is a series of brands, and with little money, improving everybody takes time. I also have a feeling that SAAB is going to get a lot of rebadged jobs from other markets (not sold here), which is fine and most of all INEXPENSIVE. There are some good Opel's, Holden's, and according to this article soon to be Vauxhauls, that will make great SAABS. That would be relativly cheap to do, and would create a relative succesful franchise. Buick will have to take some more work, and the Buick style will have to be more unique, with some USA flavor. In all, I want Buick to do well, but I want all of GM to do well too. Oh, and the Lucerne in a pretty sharp car.......good start.
  7. I have to agree with Mr. Wagoner, it would be nice if they were, but SAABs don't have to be built in Sweden. I personaly think that the rebadge virus (aka. 92x, 97x, and soon to be 96x), will be a temporary endevor. I think, over time, that SAAB will get its groove back. I'm tired of people saying the SAAB is osbolete, with some work, they can be a fantastic Euro-import company for GM.
  8. I think Acura could get some seriously needed help with Northstar. People with luxury car tastes would love the smooth power and reliability, and the regular gas spec. would be icing on the cake. Plus, GM has been doing Northstar for quite some time, and constantly improving it. I don't think even Honda, with their "God like" development skills could trump the years of work GM has done to Northstar. Of coarse, I could be wrong. Working at a Cadillac dealer for years though, and experiencing Northstar first hand, I firmly beleive that Northstar is world class, and somthing that Honda would give dearly for.
  9. Well, they will eventualy make it here but they will have to watch their back legaly because they have some MAJOR copyright problems.
  10. Or sell one convertable, but make it VERY special and VERY sexy. Sell them at Buick or Cadillac dealers. Also, make a limited number of them per year, but enough for GM to make some cash. DON'T FLOOD THE MARKET!
  11. Daewoo needs to become a MAJOR part of a GM international comeback. They have some good skill, experience and assets.
  12. I can't wait until we have Miata Vs. Solstice loyalist fights. It will take a while but it WILL happen. I hope GM makes this great car even better. Too bad that the MR2 is not in the race, but it shows that Toyota is not an invincible car company, and can make big mistakes.
  13. I agree, at our dealership we sold our allocation VERY QUICK with the GMS pricing. It was cheaper than the Subaru. Customer satisfaction was also VERY high. The SAAB also had features that the comperable Subaru did not have. The best part of this though was we were able to screw the local Subaru dealer out of car sales...........ahhhhhh, refreshing.
  14. Good to see GM doing things like this, even with a smaller market (I would guess).
  15. Several GPS companies have some very inexpensive small GPS systems for cars that are a small fraction of in dash GPS systems. I have one for my GTO and it works great. I can kind of see a luxury car having one in dash, but you start to put them in lower cost cars and they become lower cost no more. There is probably an entire package the Honda GPS comes with to, you probably can't just buy the GPS alone. Plus, I don't care what anyone says, the inside of this car looks TERRIBLE!! The outside looks ok though.
  16. Even at these gas prices, V8's are still sought after, especially in the luxury and performance market. I think a company that dosen't research V8 tech is missing out on quite a few customers. As stated earlier, trading Vortecs for Honda engines would be a good deal, but how about trading production data and rights for each others select engine tech (with restrictions). Honda could get some great GM V8 tech knowledge, and GM could be helped out by some small engine tech.........makes sense to me. Win-Win for both companies(although I dislike Honda).
  17. It looks MUCH better than the Sunfire, plus what I have seen of the Cobalt I LOVE, but I still think Pontiac in the states needs something different or nothing at all (for long term image). I know this sounds bad, but I think an inexpensive, decent performing, small car from Daewoo could be a nice fit if done right. GM really needs to use Daewoo more in their market building strategy.
  18. To clear things up, I don't sell cars. I'm a manager at the dealership (not sales), but I use selling cars as a collective term, for the whole dealership. I say that because one reason why we don't service as many cars is that GM is building a better quality product in general, but another is that we can't sell as many either. So sells is more important than ever. I feel secure and VERY well trained in the auto industry, I could get a good paying job from all sorts of auto related sources (and outside the auto industry if I chose to). I do agree with you though (and something I have been trying to say) that some people picked the wrong industry. I think in paticular the factories. For two main reasons, a. Their jobs are going to be outsourced, like it or not, and b. they have a chance to enjoy many other great job fields and opprotunities this country has to offer. Many people will be suprised with the sucess of starting over and this country gives you the chance! People just have to play the game right. People need to STOP WHINING, STAND UP, DUST OFF, and BE A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF THIS GREAT SOCIETY!
  19. A good way to avoid being in a crisis in your 40's or 50's is to fight obsolesence. A worker needs to constantly improve their skills, knowledge, contacts, etc.. A worker needs to make himself or herself flexable in the workplace. I don't feel sorry for anybody union or not, that ever feels secure in his or her job. I firmly beleive that NO ONE should feel secure in a job. I never have felt secure in my job, but I improve myself every day. Constant improvment is the only way to fight off obsolesence and long term job loss. It is a constant fight, and there will be winners in their 40's and 50's and their will be losers, and most of the time the losers are not stuck in that position. Or I guess that their is the alternative.......we could all become commies and the government will provide everything for us and be at the head of our lives for the rest of our lives. At that point we have TOTAL job security.
  20. I have to get back into this conversation. Yes, they probably will follow close to these guidelines. Always seem to, so why would they change? Raise + COLA. They argue keeping standards of living up, but then they want a raise........even when times are bad. When times are bad where I work.....no raise. Makes common sense, but no..........Bad times = bad times for all but the unions............for now. I just watched the news today, and they were saying some in the government are pushing to open all trade barriers if other countries do the same. World wide open trade? If that does happen I ASSURE you people, that will be the end of factory jobs in the USA. What can we do? Well, we need to train in other sectors.........like many people that detest unions already do. If you are a fresh high school grad and are looking for a factory job..........you are out of luck. Let capitalism do its work, and unions will die off soon.
  21. I always thought the Metro convertible was kind of a fun looking simple car. Good gas mialage too. Well, I changed my mind when my gay neighbors, which had a light blue one whith these 80's looking neon paint spalsh art things on the side, every day in the summer would lay out in the sun with just a swimsuit on, in the car with the top down, all oiled up listening to George Michaels (true story). From that day forward, I figured that I was not the right client for the car. I also thank GM every day for bringing the GTO!
  22. This is a great idea! Although, it will be a cold day in hell before I will trust this system to my life. They should keep researching the tech though! Atleast GM is doing something different (if it is true).
  23. I personaly think the car is ulta-ugly. That is not a bad thing though. This is a true SAAB in every sense!
  24. I don't wan't to sound like a car newbie (because I'm not), but I have never heard of LPG fuel. Anyone know what it is? Is is some weird Euro-fuel?
  25. Well, many factory workers will not have to worry about freezing tempatures, and trying to keep up with tasks.........because the Chinese will do it for us. While, I will still be able to keep selling vehicles. If I lose my job, I will not whine about "being fair", and "the government owes me", I will use my skills to get (better yet fight) for a good non-union job. While doing so, I will shake the hand of the Chinese worker while laughing in the face of the union worker. Unions have done this all to themselves, and I don't feel sorry for them one bit. I am through with this conversation, because I KNOW I am in the right, and this is just going in circles. You union workers can keep whining, but while you are, us non-union workers are going to step all over you people!
