  1. Unfortunately it'll still have that FLINT eyesore next to it
  2. Sweet - the wagon will be available at about the same time that the lease on my Aura ends. I love the Aura but a sedan is not match for a wagon...I really miss the utility of my Malibu Maxx.
  3. Don't forget the Opel Sintra...it's the very reason that the 1997+ minivans were European sized (and thus so wrong for the U.S.). Oh yeah, there was also the Buick GL8 (China).
  4. Hey, the pic from your signature --- is that from Flint, MI? More specifically near the dorms at Kettering?
  5. Thanks Fly- you rock! I only mentioned it because color is one of the first things people perceive and many cannot put it aside to make an evaluation. This car has enough negative perception to overcome.
  6. The color of the Malibu on the front page does a disservice to the car - it's a bad photoshop color change and you should change it ASAP. (Check gray area on the rocker below the front door and and the stray pixels below the front fascia). Why not leave it gray like the GM photo?
  7. You're funny. It's fun to watch someone actually try to argue for BOF on a passenger car. Missing the good old days, huh?
  8. Sounds like Lansing took the right approach with GM. For a case study on how NOT to save jobs visit my hometown of Flint, MI.
  9. Sounds like the next gen of the stillborn Buick Pragmatic (Rendezvous trucklet) a potential Ridgeline competitor.
  10. These guys were just Josh'ing - you have to change your Outlook.
  11. Balsa worked for the C5 Corvette. Also, what EVERYONE seems to be forgetting is that a COTY/TOTY award from a magazine is a marketing contest - it's not about the hardware. The choice is largely made on the greatest potential return to the awarding magazine (i.e. advertising dollars). The Camry was the best choice because it was the most profitable choice. Please don't be so naive as to think that these rags are informational or auto news related.
  12. Hmmm...not sure about the changes but WHAT is that guy doing to other in the photo at the last link (http://www.solsticeforum.com/photopost/sho...ze=big&cat=3057)?
  13. Maybe this should be the commercial for the Impala... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkhMcyuYroA You gotta love the '67 Impala and "Alfred"
  14. Huh? You are contradicting yourself. Will Wagoner block this because he doesn't want accountability or will he go through with it because he is a stooge of the bankers and lawyers? Your take on both sides is negative.... FWIW- you were dead wrong about the alliance.
  15. Interesting quote from the 13 D filing of Tracinda: The Filing Persons have decided not to pursue the acquisition of additional shares of General Motors common stock. The Filing Persons will continue to review their investment in General Motors and may determine, based on market and general economic conditions, the business affairs and financial condition of General Motors, the market price of its shares and other factors deemed relevant by the Filing Persons, to acquire or dispose of additional shares. Complete document: http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/407...199/dsc13da.htm
  16. The stock has dropped $2+ (from $33.13 open) since noon. In context, the stock was just over $29 on 9/5 and under $28 on 7/17. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
  17. Kerkorian won't buy more GM GM's No. 1 individual shareholder says due to end of Nissan-Renault talks he won't try to buy 12M more shares; Kerkorian's advisor quits GM board. October 6 2006: 12:28 PM EDT NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Kirk Kerkorian, General Motors's largest individual shareholder, has dropped plans to buy another 12 million shares of the company's stock, and his advisor Jerome York has resigned from the GM board, due to the company breaking off alliance talks with Renault and Nissan. The moves were announced Friday in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission by Tracinda, Kerkorian's own investment firm. Tracinda already owns 56 million shares of GM (Charts), a 9.9 percent stake in the company. Kirk Kerkorian Kerkorian, formerly the lead shareholder in Chrysler when it was purchased by Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler (Charts), was the one who pushed GM to pursue an alliance with Renault and Nissan (Charts). The companies announced Wednesday they had broken off the talks because Nissan and Renault was unwilling to pay GM to join their existing alliance. Kerkorian had only disclosed his intention to buy additional GM shares last week, saying in the filing at the time that he still saw promise in the alliance. He expressed disappointment Wednesday when the talks were halted... http://money.cnn.com/2006/10/06/news/compa...sion=2006100612

    Rendezvous

Thanks guionM. Nice summation of the facts. I am currently leasing an '05 Rendezvous and it cannot end soon enough for me. I am considering buying out the remainder of the lease just to be done with it. It is big outside, small inside, poorly assembled, confused (real mahogany on the steering wheel and sad plastic wood every where else). It feels tippy, has no power (though lots of noise) and averages 18 MPG on my daily loop. On the plus side, it was discounted so much that it undercut a good cross-over by hundreds per month on the lease payment. The Rendezvous represents the GM of the late '90's. It did its job. Let it rest in peace. Non-sequitur --> Maybe GM should try making a decent minivan so that I am not forced to buy a Honda Odyssey and I can stay in the family.
  19. I love the fuzzy dice on the inside rear view mirror. I wonder if these will be optional? Maybe its a new antenna design for Onstar?
  20. I think the lineage is given away by the location of the fuel filler door. This model and the Aura have the filler in the same location on the passenger side. The Lucerne fuel filler is located on the drivers side. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this a "hard point" on a platfrom that isn't likely to be changed?
  21. You've given me something to look forward to. I love my Maxx and wish that I'd leased it for more than 24 months...I've got to give it back in 87 days. Maybe I'lll pick up a 9-3 SportCombi as a stop gap.
  22. Looking good but if the rumored death of the Maxx is true then I will have to look elsewhere. Can anyone confirm the death of the Maxx?

    Lambda's In '10

Wow! What a thread kill. Why did you remove the text of your original post?
  24. Interesting that they describe the Enclave as "shaking up" the image of Buick or a new direction, I don't really see it that way. It is really (finally) a Buick that is extremely well executed and designed. The Enclave doesn't shake me up - it reassures me that the best is coming for Buick.
