  1. I have not seen one without the fog lights I just assumed they were standard. It is easy to do now that the Base GP now does not come with fogs and just has the single turn and DRL light.
  2. I thought I heard the I5 and I6 as being base engines in the new trucks. Never saw anything offical. I would have no problem with a I6 but the I 5 would be weak.
  3. Fog lamps are standard so there always will be some. Also they are half turn signal and half fog. They are the very same ones on my 04 Comp G GTP Grand Prix. The also supply the daytime running lights for the car. On the plate just make sure you don't buy one mounted. I expect the dealer is just using the pop rivits to mount them like my GP would have if I did not stop them. If you ever remove the mount you will have 3 holes. I used two pieces of aluminum and some velcro to hold my bracket on. I only had to drill two holes under the bumper out of site. One day if the state gets the front plate law out of the books I will have a unscared bumper. I was not lucky enough to stop them on my SSEI and they ran 3 big screws in the bumper to hold it on. I did a retractable on my Fiero. If I need it I just pull the cable and it drops down and when I don't I just pull the cable and it goes back up out of sight. I hate the Ohio front plate law.
  4. The production turbo and intercooler set up look similar but the one I saw did not have the aluminum sheilds and covers. I am sure the 07 turbo won't be dressed up this much.
  5. First off the first public day is the following Saturday. This showing on Monday the 8th is much like they did for the C6 2 years ago. You will see the car in all it's glory starting Jan 14th. Also before anyone get's too techical here it is the Camaro Concept so don't come expecting a Chevelle or a Vega. Read this I think most will understand where they are going with this. Dear Camaro/Firebird Enthusiast, On behalf of the men and women at Chevrolet and our 4,300 dealer partners, I’m pleased to invite you to a very special occasion. Chevrolet will be unveiling several new models at the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan on Monday, January 8. As our guest, we would like to invite you to two events that we think will be most memorable. The first event will be held Sunday Evening, January 8th at the GM Heritage Museum in Sterling Heights, Michigan. You’ll join fellow Camaro/Firebird Enthusiasts for a reception where you will view nearly 200 historic GM cars and trucks while enjoying refreshments. Among the many exhibits are cars and trucks from the earliest days of General Motors; concept cars from the 50s and 60s; and some very special Camaros and Firebirds that celebrate 35 years of “Performance - American Style!” On Monday morning, you will be transported to Cobo Hall in Detroit to take part in a very special press event where you'll view several new and exciting Chevrolet products. How were you selected? Well, for starters, you are a Camaro/Firebird Enthusiast. You’ve “kept the faith” that the future, indeed, looks bright. You’ve continued to support the Camaro/Firebird community. Because the number of press passes is extremely limited, we have selected your name, along with one guest, lottery-style. Thus, you are one of 250 people from a list of names well over 1,200 strong. Please review your calendar now. We would appreciate an RSVP by no later than November 10. If you cannot attend, please indicate so that we may select the next name on the list. Please do not give your invitation away as it cannot be transferred to another person. This invitation is for you and one guest. Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a third press pass. We will be making blocks of rooms available should you wish to reserve a room at local hotels. If flying to Detroit, we suggest Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) or Flint Bishop Airport (FNT) We’ll send you more information as details develop. I hope to see you in January! Scott Settlemire Manager – Chevrolet Shows and Exhibits I don't want to read too much into this but I am suprised at the mention of the Firebird. Here is another post from Scott a bit of clarification: GM does not control passes for press days as we are an exhibitor at the show....we are not the 'organizer' per se. we were able to get 250 passes............. now.........I have a list of 1,259 names from various sites that are 'enthusiasts' in that they are 'regulars'......also those who are webmasters......and club presidents (that I know of) .......and those who actually plan and hold Fcar shows for enthusiasts. the only fair way to do this was to put all 1,259 names in a box......and have someone perform a 'lottery'. Those whose names were drawn have been notified by email. If they cannot come, they cannot pass their invite on to someone else -- rather, the next name is selected. The show opens the following Saturday (8th and 9th are the week earlier) I'm sorry we can't host everyone.........there's nothing I'd like better.......however, I felt this was the fairest way to do this. I'm sure that there will be a simulcast of the 'goings on' within the GM Exhibit.
  6. Here is the picture of the engine.
  7. No it will be a Detroit show car only. I will guess it will make a few other shows later but I am sure what one's. That is all to be determind later. I have a hunch this will be a big roll out and really something to see. But that should go without saying. But I think it will over shadow thw C6 roll out a few years back and it was a big deal.
  8. If anyone is interested the Summit Racing web site has SEMA pictures and one of the Weekend racer Turbo Ecotec engine. There is also a two tone Solstice I had not seen before. You might also check the other photo's out as they have some really good photo's of some really great cars. SUMMITRACING.COM
  9. If anyone is interested the Summit Racing Web site has SEMA pictures and has a photo of the Turbo Solstice engine. Might check the rest of the pictures out as there was some great cars.
  10. Just to confirm that some of the people invited have already been notified so it is a done deal it is being shown. The showing will be the Monday before the show opens [not sure of the date] to the public, so look for news on the Camaro to hit that Monday night and Tuesday morning. GM should have most of the info release by then.
  11. I thought Canada was still 4n. When did it change to domestic? I know it used to count in years past. Sorry if I was off on my understanding on this. I would guess they build so many cars up north due to the National health care now? I know it saves them a lot.
  12. This is what has been said by Fbod. None of the drawings have it right. Expect cue's from all gens, and expect some second gen [in the roof]. At one point he said a SS would be considered for the performance model and Z28 would be top line , the reverse of what it was in the last year. But this was far from a settled thing. The top line performance car would be limited like a Cobra. It will have a trunk and no hatch a convert would follow in a year or two. All this infor was given a while back and is always subject to change. As for my own thoughts I would expect a lot of styling will be taken from the SS concept. I would expect the front end grill styling roof and mabey tail lights?? Just a thought. As for drivetrain I will only say a V8 and V6. GM would doom this car if they do not provide a well equipt V6 car. They need to correct where the 4th gen failed. They could not give away the V6 cars and sold mostly V8's. They also need to appeal to women as the 4th gen sold mostly to men. These two points are what have supported the Mustang and not the F body in the last few years it was sold. Also lets not forget the insurance factor. more younger people can afford the V6 insurance and not the V8. The way I see it the V6 cars are more important than the V8. You know the V8 will sell but not in the total number GM need, 70% of these car they sell will need to be V6. Just look at how many V6 05 mustangs are on the streets today with strips and such, they are the majority. Price will just under cut the Mustang if GM holds to their pricing program to under cut the others prices. As for what V8 engines I would hate to guess at this point but keep in mind the engines from the SSR will be available soon as they kill it off.

I thougth I read that too. I could see it as being possible as they do use hyd cam followers. Either that or it will only be offer on a V8?
  14. Note I said after the reaction in Detroit I expect the buisness case to be made and approved. Then your hold for production would be removed. The concept is only the first step here. The same thing here went on for the Solstice but with less lead time. I rather dought if they had no intentions of building the car that they would show a show car Camaro in Detroit. That would only be twisting the knife. The Camaro supporters at GM are not that dumb. Though once approval is given the program will move fast very fast. Were you the one posting not long ago there was not going to be a concept at Detroit? As for the last post te 3rd and 4th Gen were unibodies too. They just used a more intergrated [subframe Smaller and lighter] than the 1st and 2nd gen.
  15. I know this car is not a lock and will state that now, any car can be cut right up till it hits the show room. With things the way they are now at GM, they needs to worry about the high profit bread and butter cars and trucks first. But a concept is the first step and things are better for it to happen than the past few years. I am looking for a great reaction in Detroit and an anouncment that the buisness plan has been made and approved soon after. Look for things to move faster after Detroit. Second I have as feeling this thing is farther along than many think or want to believe. Most of GM's show cars preceed the production car 12-18 months. I wouls not be suprised to see a GTO by Chicago. Also look for the Camaro to made sightings in Germany testing after the first of the year when GM makes their first trip over. All the hiding and cover will start to clear in 2007. Most of GM's concepts have been 70-85% productionwith examples of the Sky, Soltice, G6 and Aura being good examples. I expect Concept we will see will be much of what we can expect or 80% of production status. I also second that GM needs more people like Scott a true car guy. If it was not for Scott efforts over the last 3 years I dought there would be a concept this year. Unlike many others he never gave up.
  16. Canada. With a V8 and CAFE ratings it is better to import it like the last one. It is either up north or they will have to make sure to sell a lot of V6 car to off set the milage requirements.
  17. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been posting here since FEB that FBOD said the Camaro was not Canceled even with the Zeta program changes and have been posting since July/ Aug nFbod said that it would be in Detroit in January. Except for a few who know enough to listen to the Fbodfather all I have seen is Oh ya right. Well it is about time many here wake up and follow what Scott has been saying all along, he is the key player here. Now for all this crying on who is invited and who is not, keep in mind Scott is not going to invite just any freaks to this. I know some that are in the drawings and they are people who run some of the largest Camaro clubs and part MFG's. in the country. They on a regular baises interact with the same kind of people who will be at press day. These are not going some rednecks with a jacked up 74 Camaro LT with bad neon lights and cheesey stripes! If your expecting that you need to wise up. They are major club leaders, Camaro collectors and historians and people from the after market like GMMG the builders of some of the best F bodies ever put together. I would not be suprised if Vic Edlebrock make the show since he has some of the rarest Camaros around and will help supply parts for the new ones. These are also the very same people who have yeilded to Scotts coments and believed him when he said don't give up. They are the very same people who have helped Scott prove the cars buisness case to those in GM such a car was needed and a market was there to sell it to. They are not the one's bad mouthing GM publicly because things were not happening in their personel taste or time frame. With some of the comments posted over the last few years here I can see why many here would not be invited. I would not want that kind rubbing elbows with the kind of people who will be there. For what it's worth, Scott has also said all your drawings are wrong and none have shown the car correctly. Also he has repeated the car is styled with many cue's from all Gen's of Camaro, with the quote "think second Gen will also have a part in the styling. [Roof Line? not sure on this yet]. Bottom line this is not a 100% retro car it is a new car with a few cues from the past like the C6. Finally the name Camaro is free and clear in 2007. I am not sure of the date but if they show this car in Jan it must be clear on 12-31-06? The new Camaro at GM has been just called THE CAR with in GM and the Camaro name has not been tied to it. This is part of the reason why things have been so tight on the name. The story by Johhny Hudkins in PHR was one thing that those tied to this program did not like and he was never to go public with the story on the problems with the name and the Canadian Union. If you want to know anyting as I have stated before follow what Fbodfather/redplanet has to say as he is the lead man here on info that you will hear first. Also if you get the chance to meet Scott and talk, take the time he is a wealth of info [GM legal]. Some of what he says many not add up but as time goes the pieces fit and you will figure it out he will always tell you as much as he can.
  18. The timing is right for the Zeta as GM has shown production cars 12-18 months before intro. I have a feeling the GTO/G8 will make a showing at Chicago. Pontiac always has a new car for the windy city and the timing would be right for a 08
  19. Well, untill they get as new upgraded interior I will not be replacing my Sonoma with a Canyon. I hate the cheap plastic on the doors and dash and the seats reek of 1983 Camaro. If it was still 1983 that would be fine but not in 2005.
  20. Supercharged LS7 is so unlikley in a Solstice unless they do a hand full for a racing series. Chevy would never allow the Solstice to upstage the Vette. The Vette people frove the last nail in the Fiero's coffin to finally kill it when they were going to get over 200 HP. Your going to see 250HP in a turbo Eco and it will grow to 300+ in time. There is no point in a V8 in this car as it defeats the idea of keeping cost down insurance in a afforddable range ETC... Now that is not to say Opel might offer something in Europe with a V8?
  21. Roush has been involved in many GM show cars for years, they were just either unwilling or unable to put their name on the cars. If I recall Roush had a big hand on the Solstice Prototype. Roush is becoming a ASC only they have more they can offer in development and engineering. I also expect with Roush Performance Products on the market now that they may offer more aftermarket parts in the future for all cars not just Mustangs. We just picked them up at work and they are the top of the line products and would be a set back for them if all they could do is sell parts for one car line. It would be nice to see Roush performance parts line for all the Pontiac's.
  22. As for me this is not a car I would buy, but it would sell in great numbers if price well. The only thing I would change is the grills. The rest is the look that is making up the import market. Too under swtand the spoiler, wheels and FX one just need to open the pages of one of the import tuner magazines and see where they are coming from. I am just so greatful they left off all the cheesey graphic's people load on tuner car's. Too few let the styling work and rely on graphic's.
  23. Much bettter than Pontiacs SEMA effort.
  24. Is this a peek at the AWD they are thinking about? Are they showing the car and if they go AWD just add the rear driveline? It has that WRX look to it and with the flairs it could take much wider wheels for traction at each corner.
  25. Sorry for the dupe here on this topic I missed the one in Auto Shows. I will be eager to see if there was anything too the V8 mentioned there. I know it will fit but don't see Pontiac puting one in for a show car. At least yet. I don't think Chevy would like to see the Blue Devil engine in a Pontiac before they show it in a Vette. They are still sore over the V8 in the GP before the Monte and Impala. They are still upset they did not get the Gen III 3800 SC when they had to live with the Gen II.
