  1. You make an excellent point. I didn't realize that he Cobalt SS only weighed 15 more pounds than the Solstice GXP. Where is all that weight in the Solstice coming from?
  2. BrewSillis, get your eyes checked. The Malibu looks nothing like the Camry. I mean sure they both have 4 wheels, 4 doors, and both of the cars are black in the case of your example photos but the lines on Malibu and Camry aren't even close.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't this car have to be FWD. What are the rules for competition? If its RWD, then they are not better than NASCAR.
  4. I am almost certain that he was being sarcastic.
  5. You are missing my point. If GM leaves the market their will be less competitors for the Pathfinder and 4Runner. GM would be giving a competitor more market share by default. Just like the they did when they canned the Camaro. You don't concede a market, it is bad business. Ford and GM sell the most in this market. Conceding markets is part of the reason that the Big 3 got in trouble in the first place. The Mid-size BOF SUV is most likely going to become more of a niche market. As an example, a 200k a year vehicle may only become a 100k a year vehicle. So the market would become less profitable. By not fielding a vehicle in the market at all you would not only lose all of your sales, but you would concede the sales you would have retained to a competitor. Since when is handing a market ,and the revenue that goes along with it, a good business practice?
  6. GM and Isuzu have already started work on the next gen Colorado/Canyon platform. GM should make sure that successor to the GMT-355 is versatile enough to accommodate the next-gen Trailblazer/Envoy. You NEVER abandon a market. Its foolish, it allows your competition an uncontested revenue stream. Just like when GM canned the Camaro/Firebird and Ford has reaped the rewards with Mustang. If the next Colorado/Canyon platform is made so that it can be useful for both the Colorado/Canyon and Trailblazer/Envoy, it will reduce the cost of keeping the Trailblazer/Envoy. Also it will keep GM from being caught with its pants down like it was with the Mustangs success. Do we really want GM to let the competition have free reign over BOF mid-size SUVs? Do we really want GM to have to take 3 or 4 years to develop a replacement from scratch and have the 4Runner and Pathfinder sales take off? I mean seriously, I don't want any more Camaro incidents.
  7. Very good point. Also the Aura's base V6 has more power and more torque than the V6 in the Ford Fusion.
  8. I would gripe about GM caving in to dealers but this story out of Motor Trend. MT hasn't been the most reliable source for new as of late. In fact, most of their "news" has been nothing but rumor as of late. I will wait until a more reliable source reports this information.
  9. This year. 2020? Come on man, thats pretty weak. As for the 2.4 Ecotec for the base engine. If the 3.5 gets comparable gas mileage, at comparable price, with 54 more hp and 58 more lbs ft of torque why would a 2.4 be required?
  10. I agree with you on the 4 speed but what is wrong with a 224hp 220lb ft of torque 3.5VVT V6 as the base engine? Its not old, the engine was just introduced in the 06 Impala and the one in the Aura has been tweaked to put out an additional 13hp and 6lbs ft of torque.
  11. Inside Line, I think was them, had spyshots of the production model of the Aura. They were camoed but you see the dual exhuast and you could see that the front grille was the same as the concept.
  12. Can someone post the Aura Redline production car spy shots? The photo is of a base model and the production Redline retains the concepts front end. You can see that through the camo. Also, the Redline produciton car as dual exhaust, not center exhaust like the concept.
  13. Am I the only one that thinks this looks exactly like the Nissan Versa? Nissan's styling has really went to hell lately. They are taking this family styling thing way too far.
  14. Why? So they can give it back to Audi?
  15. Hmm...can anyone post comparison photos? I only recall the LaCrosse Super photo vaguely. If what I remember is correct, I'll take the Chinese LaCrosse with the NA LaCrosse's powerplants.
  16. Yeah GM has been hinting that they could move the Camaro's production time up. I think its wise for them to do so. They have a lot of buzz with the concept so, they need to take advantage of it. I think the Blue Devil is a cool idea, but I hope they have some exterior changes in mind further differentiate if from the Z06.
  17. Given the small increase in price over the standard Vue, GM has a winner on its hands. GM is really having a good autoshwo season thus far. I can't wait to see more from their Saturn greenline series. I wonder how long its going to take them to get their two mode hybrid system across the whole lineup. Given that trucks and suvs are their bread and butter I think its great strategy that they are focusing their hybrid efforts on those vehicles first.
  18. It shouldn't be detuned. You are forgetting that by the time the Camaro arrives the base Corvette will have gotten an hp increase. Even if the Vette wasn't getting an increase, it would have a 200 to 300lb weight advantage.
  19. Yeah Northstar you hit the nail on the head man. The Challenger is 4000lbs. They shortened the wheelbase on it but they lengthened the overhangs thus negating any savings on weight. I want nothing to with a 4000lb barge pretending to be a pony car. I'm floored by the Camaro, I saw the spy pics of the clay model but I'm still astounded by how beautiful the car is. The length of the wheelbase is very encrouraging. I may actually be able to fit someone over 5ft in the back seat. I drove a 3rd gen when I was 16 and no one was riding in the back seat of that. The long wait is a blessing and a curse. It gives me time to save but I would to get my hands on one now.
  20. Yes and no, a lot SRT-4 owners I know aren't too happy with the Caliber. So they may actually like the idea of a 260hp Cobalt SS. Especially since GMPD is already making factory upgrades to the current Cobalt SS. Isn't this 2.0 Turbo ECOTEC hitting the Cobalt SS in CY 2007/MY 2008?
  21. I couldn't have said it better myself. I mean its bad enough the 3.9 is only putting out 227hp in the convertible but there is no stick option too. Thats just shameful. It wouldn't be so bad if it was coming with the new 6-speed auto but unless I'm mistaken its coming with the reliable yet dated 4-speed auto. Well at least this will quash all the talk of the convert being canned.
  22. Well what else would you expect for BMW & Honda magazine? I mean according to them the Ridgeline is the best mid size truck you can buy.
