  1. Once the hatches have been homologated the sedan is an easy option, but it won't go into production in Poland until the first Astra hatches are already on sale in the US. There are capacity issues too. At the moment Saturn will be getting Belgium's excess volume. New models such as the TwinTop and sedan may not have much available at the moment, and the Lancer and Jetta wagons have already been dropped in the US because of low sales (less than 10% of the mix).
  2. If it sells you can bet that next time they'll add lwb and high-roof versions, sliding doors, swingling rear doors as well as the liftgate, and a proper flat floor instead of the folded seatback they have now.
  3. More than a base model with seats and windows. People will buy them, by the thousands. Circuit City, Interflora florists, IKEA, Coca Cola Enterprises, small couriers etc., even Fedex or UPS might find them useful in some areas. Now they need to find a range of "upfitters" around the country to do shelving, hanging rails, refrigeration and of course custom paint jobs.
  4. A bouncing Aura? You had a low-rider kit installed?

  6. The 238 hp cast-iron turbo is already pushing the limits of the Astra's fwd architecture.
  7. Except that neither engine is currently available in the Astra. The only Family II engine offered in the Astra is the old cast-iron block turbo from the previous 9-3, in 205 or 238 hp tunes. The smaller Family 1 engines are brand new and shouldn't require too much if anything to meet US emission standards. The diesels are another matter, so you probably won't see them in the US.
  8. GM may do just that. There is already such a program for a smaller European MPV, just not for anything fullsize.
  9. What I don't get is if there's no signal how did they manage to find them by tracking the cell phone?
  10. Errr, the price is not "high", it's just an added subscription option. It's the dvd-based satellite Nav systems they are saying cost around $2000.

  12. I'd like to see the 1.6 Dual-VVT for economy, 1.8 dual-VVT for volume, and 1.6 Turbo for economical performance.
  13. Honda did the Fit anyway, much futher into the model cycle (it was introduced in, ahem, 2001). To make it meet US regs they had to stretch the bumpers a total of 6", mostly at the front. The hood and front light clusters have been stretched as well to make it look less apparent. The first-gen M45 had to have its bumpers stretched about 6" as well. By contrast the Yaris hatch, designed from the outset for US sale is only 2.4" longer, and the Yaris sedan is no larger at all.

  15. Toyota could sell 300,000 Model Ts a year if they had Corolla badges.
  16. Here's a question for you, if the Lambda vans have been canned, what was photographed running around the proving grounds :AH-HA_wink:
  17. The Zafira didn't invent the 3-row C-MPV—the Japanese did that more than 20 years ago—but it revived the segment and set the standard everyone else tries to match, with vehicles such as the Grande Scenic, C4 Picasso, VW Touran, Mazda5, Corolla Verso and Kia Rondo. The current version shares most engines with the Astra, including the 238 hp OPC version, which debuted first in the Zafira. There is also a CNG version with an underfloor tank.
  18. There is a roof-wide visor.
  19. More pics and info from the European debut in Helsinki: http://auto-report.net/WordPress/?p=276
  20. The 7 Series in China is lwb only and ranges from 988,600 to 2,499,600 RMB, much higher than the SLS. Instead the SLS is priced against the BMW 5 Series LWB, which ranges from 518,000 to 699,000 + options, and the Audi A6L.
  21. For the moment the V10 is dead. It will only be resurrected if GM feels enough customers demand increased torque as well as hp, and are willing to pay for it (if not as much as the for the big diesel).
  22. The gold, red and Panorama ones are pre-2007.5 MCE.
  23. Looks closer to scarlet than pink. Of course scarlet hunting coats are called "pink", but that's because they used to be made by a company called Pink. "Though not in Pink, was the best mounted man in the field"—Benjamin Disraeli
  24. There are more and better pics of the 2007 Astra from GM. The GTC and TwinTop haven't changed much, but the 5-door and wagon have been nicely updated. WT584 and TC980 are the old models.
  25. How about some shots of the 2007 GTC with Panoramic windshield, now standard with the Cosmo trim level.
