  5. Not bland, simple. Simple is good. Complexity can ruin a design, as in the new Sebring. The most complex thing that you should add to a vehicle design are fender vents, a la Corvette, Antara and Lucerne. Even a fake radiator grille as opposed to a simple air intake should be used with care, and at best, is also kept simple (Chrysler 300-good, Kia Amanti-bad).

  8. Really? which one?

  10. GM and it's partners are developing the dual-mode hybrid for all types of vehicle, cars and trucks, fwd and rwd. GM has already shown a fwd concept and once it debuts in the Vue it should make its way readily to midsize applications on the next Epsilon platform. Mercedes-Benze is leading development of the system for luxury rwd cars.
  11. The Equinox is not really a compact, and neither is the Vue.
  12. It was officially announced for the North American market at the end of March.http://auto-report.net/WordPress/?p=61
  13. Am I the only one who thinks this is an illustration? Other than the appearance you shouldn't base too many judgements on it. You should be aware that GM's "photos" sometimes have the pedals for one transmission and the stick for another. Can't see a handbrake? Maybe they forgot to draw it in, maybe there isn't one—you won't know for sure until actual "live" photos appear.
  14. Similar, but they share no common sheetmetal, and the Captiva is longer and has an optional third row, whereas the Antara only seats 5. They both use an updated version of the Saturn Vue's swb Theta platform.

  17. That's the Impala. The dasboard ignition was introduced with the P90 Malibu.
  18. The 150 hp 1.9 L is DOHC
  19. Mazda5. SedonaLite, is exactly right. They won't have much stock till next year, so they aren't actively promoting it. They sold 3 last month, and I wouldn't expect them to sell very many for some time.
  20. They build Wuling-brand minitrucks themselves, that's how.
  21. There are already a wide variety of cheap compact pickups in the Chinese market, mostly updated versions of old Chevy LUVs and Toyota Hiluxes.
  22. The Equinox is another size class higher, thanks to a longer wheelbase (2850 v 2707 mm) and overall length which pushes it closer to Highlander and Murano. The Captiva benefits from being a newer product with more refinement and better design, however it is apparently noticeably cheaper than the Antara as far as materials go.
  23. I think you will have to wait until the new-generation Aveo and Cobalt arrive, at the earliest for the new 1.6 and 1.8 L engines, but with GM commiting to best-in-class fuel economy, they could be coming. It will probably require a new engine plant to expand production outside Europe. At the moment GM Daewoo is still getting hand-me-downs—as GM Europe adopts the lightweight 1.8 VVT in more models, GM Daewoo can get more of the older Family 1 1.8 L in place of the even bulkier Family II 1.8 L produced by GM Holden. Eventually I expect GM Daewoo to produce the new-generation Family 1 engines themselves, instead of developing their own independent updates to the current Daewoo Family 1 engines as used in the Aveo. The Family II 1.9 and 2.2 L DI VVT engines are produced for Alfa Romeo, while the 2.0 Turbo and 2.4 L are already produced and sold in NA. The new GM Isuzu 1.7 L CDTI, while cleaner and morepowerful than the SOHC GM-Fiat 1.9 L will require new technology to meet US emission standards.
  24. The A3 is the internal code. It will have a Chinese character name as well (different in Mandarin and Cantonese).
  25. Probably more that they didn't want to show the revised face of the new 2007 Astra (also on AutoReport) until now.
