G90 X Gran Coupe Concept Update Shows Production Possible Intent

In this 21st century, where just about everything is all about the SUV, Genesis shows an updated X Gran Coupe Concept that many feel could go into production now! Would you buy this?

Taking inspiration from the Italian countryside, Genesis has released an updated X concept built on a production G90 platform called the Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept. Per Genesis press release, the X Gran Coupe Concept is an object d' art meant to set free the passion one has for driving on the open roads, looking for adventure wherever they go.

The exterior metallic green color was taken from the color of the ancient olive trees from Italy's eastern Marche region. Breathing poetry in the gently rolling hills, the X Gran Coupe Concept reflects its surroundings as a multifaceted gem in radiant form.X Gran Coupe Concept

Genesis wanted to from the start ensure that this updated concept exudes athleticism, radiating confidence as the car roars along the road bringing its true spirit alive. The view from a head-on perspective shows this sporty character with widened fenders, sleekly lowered roofline, creating a commanding presence, a predator poised on the edge, muscles taught and coiled, ready to leap. Kinetic energy brought to life.

The Profile shows a naturally integrated roof line from front to back, shaping a canopy of a true sports car. Reframing an encompassing design of luxury with "Athletic Elegance" is what Genesis is delivering here. The extended fenders are specifically designed to create a three-dimensional look that gives a dynamic, commanding stance. The LED lines of light are designed to amplify the car's increased track that continues to exude a powerful, confident presence.

From country to city, Genesis created this bold silhouette that delivers an elegant, timeless look that is at home no matter where one drives.X Gran Coupe Concept rear view

The Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept was intentionally designed to deliver a minimalist approach while also having a layered approach like fine jewelry from every angle, attention to details that show intent without being gaudy.

The interior was designed to give a first impression of subtle warmth, yet total comfort from the leather, natural olive wood and other details that show a reassuring testament to meticulous craftsmanship. Genesis took inspiration for the interior from the Mediterranean Olive trees, soil and sun.

Genesis created a lifestyle collection to compliment the X Gran Coupe Concept, this Pasubio Leather accessory set delivers the cars quiet opulence in life and on the road.

X Gran Coupe InteriorThe head of Genesis design stated the following: "The Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept established a new benchmark for luxury cars. It elevates the Athletic Elegance design philosophy already apparent in Genesis’ flagship G90 model into a more sculpted silhouette. Its design details, inspired by the Mediterranean countryside, both blend in and stand out even more in this picturesque Italian landscape. In every line, light and texture detail it fuses artistic beauty with exquisite craftsmanship, and in doing so, redraws the map of modern luxury."

    • February 9th and its place in history ... I always give this one a thought when I look at the calendar. The good: Today is the day that the Boeing 747 first took to the sky in a smooth as butter departure from Paine Field in Everett, WA where it was assembled.  This makes for one helluva "feel good" moment in time. - - - - - The bad: Today is the day that, 55 years ago, Los Angeles had its "famous" Sylmar earthquake.  Clearly, this was the inspiration for the original version of the 1974 film "Earthquake."  The Northridge earthquake took place on MLK Day in 1994 got more coverage because media improved.  The latter quake seemingly did a lot more damage.  Northridge sits in the middle of the San Fernando Valley while Sylmar sits at the top end of the San Fernando Valley, where Los Angeles really thins out and sits at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains foothills.  The commonality is that in both quakes, at least one of the really long concrete overpass connecting the freeways I-5 and CA 14 collapsed.  Every time I've driven under it or next to it, I've remarked that that is one really long span (CA 14 terminating and feeding cars onto I-5 southbound into the Valley and L.A.) - - - - - 1971 high ramp collapses at I-5 and CA-14 1994 high ramp collapses at I-5 and CA-14 (same interchange) The Los Angeles area went 20 years between its 2 major earthquakes.  San Francisco had its historic 1906 quake that turned the then younger city into rubble, not having one again until 1989 - the Loma Prieta earthquake. The most severe fault in the state (the San Andreas) goes through San Francisco, while it crosses where the mountains end and the Central Valley begin some 50 to 60 miles north of Los Angeles. When you grow up around this, you seemingly familiarize yourself with all these facts and figures.
    • Haha.  Well, it's new compared to what the trailer is carrying.  It goes to show how well I (don't) know my BMWs and other foreign cars.
    • Or the old and less old...that BMW X5 is at least 20 years old.  Not sure what the little car on the trailer is.
    • Amazing the pigs some people can be. Funny that a dealership says the vehicle is uncleanable when any vehicle can be cleaned, just takes more work.
