As the Diesel Emits: Volkswagen Offers Their Dealers A Price Guarantee On Used TDI Vehicles

Volkswagen Has Plan To Buy Back TDI Models From Dealers

Volkswagen is looking to limit the damage that has been caused by the diesel emission scandal. According to Automotive News, part of this comes from buying some used TDI model on U.S. dealer lots at pre-crisis prices.

Speaking with dealers briefed on the plan, Volkswagen will guarantee the value of used models equipped with 2.0 TDI containing the illegal software sitting on dealer lots. If the vehicles aren't sold within 60 days, Volkswagen will buy them back.

In a memo from Volkswagen of America COO Mark McNabb, the program will take three phases. The first phase will have Volkswagen making an inventory of the TDI models to help the company figure out which ones are eligible for the program. Volkswagen expects this phase to finish by the middle of November. Further details of the other two phases will take place later in the month.

Volkswagen hopes this plan will stop the freefall prices in light of the scandal. According to Kelly Blue Book, the average price of a Volkswagen TDI model dropped 16 percent after the scandal was brought to light. The plan will also hopefully prevent a pileup of diesel vehicles sitting on dealer lots.

    • Urban hiking in Montreal is awesome. Lots of locals bitch about our bike paths. And to a certain degree, they would be correct as bike paths have taken over. And as an automobilist in Montreal...yeah.   BUT...what most automobilists in Montreal have failed to realize that the people, the young families that CHOSE to  ACTUALLY LIVE in the city centers ENJOY those bike paths. The safety and the ease of biking anywheres in the city centers with their KIDS enjoying the OUTDOORS.  Montreal was ALWAYS a walkable city until the cars invaded. The walkable and bike-able paths fought back to re-acquire what was rightfully theirs before the automobile made its appearance.    And this is not even on the mountain. The mountain has its own natural preserved beauty.  This is in Anjou. A  burrough to the north east of the island.
    • The parallel here is MG, a former British company now owned by Chinese IIRC. I see the MG brand everywhere outside of the USA Gorgeous. More like this please.  Glad to see them doing this, I really want to urban hike Montreal.  Canadians, and the folks in the other 198 countries outside of the USA, all should indeed boycott the USA
    • OK...the first post that Ill make to turn it around. Montreal has allocated I dont know how many more billions to fix the Olympic Stadium's roof once again.  It is cheaper to spend billions than to tear it down. And at this point, the Olympic Stadium, for better or worse, symbolises Montreal. The architecture that is both beautiful and unique but arrogant and self serving and corrupt.   This stadium is part of Montreal's fabric whether we as Montrealers like it or not. So might as well embrace it. Love it and live with it. Show case it the way we showcase other Montreal beauty. It is the start of the renovation project. Beautiful photography. Enjoy.
