Speaking of rebadges...

Recommended Posts

All of us know that the 9-2x and the 9-7x are rebadges of the Subaru Impreza and the GMT-360 trucks. But in fact, Saab well before this time had another rebadge. Name this Saab and its original vehicle. BONUS: There's also one thing special about these twins than the other cars of country of the original car. What is this?

Saab has a lengthly history of using other manufacturers components and even blatant rebadging. In 1975 Saab marketed the Italian Autobianchi A112 for awhile. Then in '79 they rebadged a Lancia Delta. For over 30 years Saab used Ford of Germany engines. The Saab 900 was based on Opel/Vauxhalls. Saab hasn't been 'Saab' for a long time. So it's not so strange to have them rebadging GM and Subaru products. Edited by HarleyEarl

The Lancia was my expected answer. But I don't agree that the NG900 to be a rebadge of the Vectra. I would say they are differentiated enough to be separate models. It's like calling a G6 a Malibu Maxx. Platform-mates, but not rebadge. Also, marketing a car is not rebadging. Opel was marketed by Buick for a while, but an Opel is not a Buick. The 900 was not a rebadge but it was not a true Saab either. It was a shared development with other companies. I was making the point that Saab has not been making independent uniquely Saab cars in some time. It makes rebadging easier to swallow with this company.

The Saab 9000 was also developed with Fiat (Chroma), Lancia (Thema), and Alfa Romero (164).  Not rebadges, though.

If there's any roadster, I'd rather take Sonnett. Also, they should bring back the Viggen line. Just like GXP for Pontiac, SS for Chevy, V for Caddy, etc. Just how cool would it be to have a 3.6L blown V6 9-3 Viggen making near 300 horses  Edited by ToniCipriani
