3.9 Liter & 6 Speed Manual, Canceled?

Recommended Posts

No, it's gone.

From the ordering guide:

-Mechanical section-Deleted (MU9) Transmission, 6-speed manual entirely.

Week of 12/4/2006

That option only lasted for a year and a few weeks. Only ones left are dealer stock. I wouldn't miss it. A lot of owners were complaining about reliability issues with the tranny unit.

Not until they come up with a reliable one mated with the 3.6L.

I know my car's RWD.....but the Aisin 6-speed manual in my CTS Sport is a BEAUTIFUL tranny......by FAR the smoothest-shifting GM manual transmission powertrain I've ever driven.

It mates pretty well with the 3.6L HF V6......

Aisin's not GM's. It's Toyota's.

But you just answered your own question. RWD = Longitudinal and FWD = Traversal. The only traversal manual unit GM has is the FGP and the Getrag. Getrag can't handle the torque, so it's only mated to the 2.2L, and it's only a 5-speed.

I really couldn't see this gen of G6 ever getting a manual again.
