VW to Build Small SUV

Featured Replies

The world needs another small SUV like I need a hole in my head. <_<
Well I'm glad you agree the world needs another one of these, Sly! :P So far I like this one...

If it's Golf-based and available with the 2.0T, DSG, and 4Motion, I might be interested. If it's another overweight pig like the Touareg or Phaeton, I'm not. How VW executes this will determine how well it fits into what VW's image should be... did that make any sense at all?

I'm sure the owners will love it when its in the shop half the time.

That's no joke, my wife bought into the VW trend with the last Jetta and well... it was in the shop (no joke!) 10 times and that was just within the first 20k miles. VW refused to do anything to remedy the transmission problems and said it was "driver habbit and functioning within factory tolerances."

Wow. I guess their tolerances are as loose as Paris Hilton.

Seriously, I knew three VW owners (two Jettas, one Passat) who had major drivetrain and electrical problems with vehicles 1-3 years old with mileage not exceeded 30k on any of them.
Here's one with 42K miles and, other than the ignition coil recall, no major problems.

If yours wasn't built in Mexico, I might believe it but... cross your fingers... history and stats tend to say that you will indeed have problems. For your sake I hope not because, you will never get a satisfactory repair or repsonse out of VW.
