The Toyota Aurion TRD went on sale just weeks ago in Australia, but Toyota has suspended sales due to safety concerns. Bases on the Toyota Camry, the Aurion TRD uses a supercharged 3.5 L V6 that is rated at 329 horsepower. Toyota says the sales hold is due to a potential engine failure issue that is not related to the supercharger or the engine's high output.

Toyota currently has 150 demo Aurion TRD in dealerships throughout Australia and the automaker plans to inspect each of those vehicles within the week.

Although not a full-scale recall, Toyota seems to be having an increasing problem with quality control. The Japanese automaker ranked second — trailing only VW — in 2007 U.S. recalls.

This is potentially very hurtful to Toyota's image. Having to suspend production on a vehicle due to an engine problem. Looks like they're rushing vehicles to production a little too fast.

Looking at the chart they have in that link, it shows the Toyota Sequoia as the 2nd most recalled vehicle. Was Toyota the 2nd most recalled manufacturer overall, or just had the 2nd most recalled vehicle?

Wow, a lot of Nissan's on that list.
