While flipping through my ninety-one year old edition of Motor Age magazine I decided to make a quick trivia question. It's very simple, true or false in fact. Good luck & no cheating, just in case you have a copy of the Dec. 17th 1914 issue.


All the questions pretain to this issue of M.A. magazine.




1. True or false? The "Detroiter" made by the Briggs-Detroiter Co. cost $985. Some interesting features included a full floating rear axle, red electric flash oil gauge, carburtor above frame, left hand drive & multiple disk clutch in oil.




2. True or false? A California Motorist ascended a very steep grade by using a external feed line & a broken bottle filled with gasoline. He lifted the bottle with the attached fuel line above his head after the car was driven up too steep of a hill for the gravity fed carbureter to function wiht the standard gasoline tank.




3. True or false? A 1914 Republic Motor Truck 3/4 ton with express body, internal gear drive cost $995.00, while a 1 1/2 ton chassis cost $1475.00




4. True or false? An advertisement in the back of the magazine brags about "Racing Type Roadster Seats" "Made of heavy gauge leaded steel, rolled edges... upholstered in black muleskin, $23/pair, or $25 for leather. The address is a "AUTO PARTS COMPANY" on Jackson Blvd in Chicago, Ill.




5. True or false? There is an article with this title:

"The Amish Religious Sect Accepts the Motor Car"

Central Illinois Colony Has to Rescind Action




6. True or false? The Rexo II was the lowest priced electric horn obtainable at $3.85 while the Aeromobile Exhaust Horn of the Fulton Company required no up-keep expense.




7. True or false? The Hoover Mud Hook was a paddle-like device designed to help the car dig itself out of mud or sand. It was manufactured in Boston Massachusetts by the W. H. Hoover Company. The "hook" attached to the tire with special tanned rawhide straps.




8. True or false? The Jackson Automobile Company advertised their $1650 "48"-six & $1375 Olympic "46" with the slogan "No hill too steep, no mud too deep".




9. True or false? This is the title of the article on page 22:

"Washington Puts $13,000,000 Into Its Highways"

State Accomplishes Wonderful Results in 2 Years




10. True or false? A Bailey Auto Heater, manufactured in New Castle Pa., worked by redirecting the exhaust gases into the cabin of a closed or open car. It was claimed to be completely odorless & noiseless and yet it reduced back pressure and increased horsepower.
