Engine Upgrades

I was in a Ford dealer this weekend. The salesman was talking up their new engines for 2011, saying he got to test drive a ecoboost V6 and of course it was the best thing ever!

Any news on GM's Gen V V8's? Are they going to be introduced prior to the 2013 redesign or will GM have upgraded engines out sooner to compete with Ford's new offerings? I'm planning on upgrading my Sierra sometime but haven't been impressed enough with anything to warrant the cost.

The V8's may be smaller and will have Direct Injection, Variable Valve Timing and a few other tricks. They will get better mileage and atleast the same power of better.

I would not be suprised if GM also used a Turbo V6 in the trucks. GM has some V6 Turbo engines coming and have already shown they can have over 400 HP and near the same Torque.

GM has said little but this is what many are expecting. We may still get a few suprises too. You never know what they may add. GM is not saying much on any new product that has been started post Chapter 11.

Note the new V8 will be in the new C7 Vette and then spread to the trucks.
