GMC News: GMC To Add A Terrain Denali?

Last March, we got our hands on a spy picture of what was a Denali version of the GMC Terrain. The mule had a blacked out honeycomb grill and a new square, chrome exhaust tip. We though the Terrain Denali would be coming sometime this year. Well, we were right on except the year.

Automotive News reports that sources inside GM say Terrain Denali is a go. The reason to building a Denali version are to keep the sales momentum going for the Terrain (2011 saw a 37% increase in sales). Building a more luxurious version of the Terrain could attract more buyers, with Denali vehicles seeing a 79% increase last year. Also, a Denali version would help provide more separation between the Terrain and the Chevrolet Equinox.

So what will Terrain Denali look like? Well, expect a honeycomb grill, large chrome wheels, body cladding, and new exhaust tips. Inside, a set of perforated leather seats and some Denali badging through out the interior.

When asked for comment, a GM spokesman declined.

BOOOOOOOOOOO

This is the WRONG WAY to go with the Terrain!!!

They should have it all Black Chrome and add a turbo to the engine so you have a Terrain Typhoon.

Not only are they diluting the Denali luxury by putting it on everything, they are making cookie cutters of the same just about in all sizes.

Not happy with this at all. Stupid Mgmt decision.

The Terrain is for a younger crowd and should be more hip than the luxury Denali package IMO.

I too with they would offer the Denali as more than just a bunch of chrome and bolt on cladding. I would think GM would have learned from what killed Pontiac as they just added some bolt on crap and charged more but really did not offer the hardware to back up the price.

I would love to see a Terrain with a Turbo 4 [it could just be the 220 HP one as I'm not looking for a second coming of the Typhoon] a Haldex AWD system and things like this.

GM needs to make the GMC a bridge between the Cadillac and the Chevy. Offer a Chevy based vehicle but with a few things from Cadillac that you can't get on a Chevy.

I know these are money makers and are cheap to build so as long as people are foolish to pay for a lot for extra chrome I can't blame GM for doing this again.

Anyone remember the first Denali truck that came with it's own AWD with a 6.0 on a half ton? It was something Chevy did not offer at the time and only could be found at GMC. This is what they need to do.
