old newspaper ad + mini-Route 66 visit

Anyone else love looking at old newspaper classifieds…?  Have a few more from 1970s Des Moines IA newspapers to feature in the coming weeks!

A favorite part (among many) of my Route 66 road trip, September 2009, was spotting murals & cars.  This was a great combo … with a Baxter Springs MO mural & a 1987 El Camino appearing in the pic I took!

Speaking of road trips, a cousin & I are planning a day road trip this Saturday, 05/02/2015, down to Staunton IL (from Chicagoland); forecasted weather should be perfect….  Anyone want to meet?

Ha ... had nearly that very conversation with my cousin while we were at Country Classic Cars yesterday, balthazar.  Equally tough to comprehend ... the fact that those cars WERE someone's brand new daily driver at some point......
