One of my best friends bought a 2024 Silverado Trail Boss with the 6.2 and he's not too stoked about it. He hasn't' had any issues thus far, but he's very skeptical about long-term ownership. He said there's a rumor that they'll extend the warranty to 10yr/100,000 and he'd be satisfied with that, but if they don't he certainly wouldn't want to own it past his OEM warranty. I don't blame him, either. It sucks because he said he planned to keep the truck for 10 years as it's kind of a do-all for his family and him. He doesn't want to have to trade it in after 5 years because he has a good chance of needing to replace the engine. GM needs to do right by all these owners. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a64611938/chevy-silverado-tahoe-cadillac-escalade-defective-v8-recall/ "General Motors is recalling 721K full-size trucks and SUVs with the 6.2-liter V-8, as the engine might be defective; a stop-sale has also been ordered. The recall list includes popular models such as the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado 1500, and GMC Yukon—all of which are 2021–2024 models. The problem stems from internal manufacturing defects, and vehicles must pass inspection or possibly require an engine replacement. "2 points

I hate to say this, but so many people from India who run hotels are very cheap and combative. I was in a place belonging to a chain I've NEVER had problems with and like where I'm staying now for a week. This guy was just rude. We had an argument about something critical he misrepresented via phone some 2 days before I checked in. I also asked him for a bottle of water on the 3rd day of departure, which they give routinely at all their other properties, especially for people who are members of their loyalty club. It was boiling hot outside. He said he didn't have any. On the other hand, in the preceding 2 evenings, the friendly Americanized Hispanic guy gave me a cold bottle of water. I told him that most people here are not prejudiced to foreigners and my parents were from another country. However, they should expect to be called out when they run a business here and their style is not compatible with how business is done and customers are used to being treated here. As for the bottle of water, which might have had a cost of 15 cents, I told him to hang on to those 15 cents and that he was so cheap that "he'd squeeze a nickel until the buffalo shits." This was on my last day. I'm sorry. This isn't about political correctness. It's all about an ugly reality that plays over and over again like a broken record. You can also have some horrible one-off experiences in Italy, typically about utilities and climatization, because they, too, can be cheap.2 points

Its scary how bad the ICE quality control is with Kia. New Santa Fe is not bad looking but I would rather shoot myself in the nut sack with a rusty bullet than buy one for sixty months on a note. Most of us here lack much of a grasp on reality, its what makes this place fun. Were we all to have a grasp on reality, we would be the beige Camry owners club. Its passed the F150 as the best selling car for a reason. Everyone I know that owns one loves them. Most of the Kia and Hyundai owners I know finished cashing the check from pick and pull after the transmission went out after the warranty ended. And if anyone thinks I consider myself more sane than anyone else here, Soy lunático tambien!1 point

Those that know me know I haven't wanted to live in the USA for a long, long time, way before trump. Would like to avoid buying another car, and just move out of the US when I turn 65-67 and retire. I turn 60 in September, don't know if going 6 more years without buying another car is legit. I could really see buying something like a police package crown vic just to patch me through until I sell my house and leave the country. I do like the Kia EV's, especially the smaller ones. Watching the EV nine in our fleet and appreciate David's updates. At this point s3!thouse rat levels of insane describes both parties. Spending the 4th hiking in the woods. Loving my Ranger, hitting 115,000 this weekend on it. Its gotten me to a ton of out of the way hiking places, and hauled a ton of lumber. Actually several tons of lumber. That was a good looking out debating me and suggesting that truck for me. The Maverick looks to be a badass choice if I actually buy a new car. Especially now with 4WD and Hybrid being combined. That with an XLT package would make a sweet little truck. We have talked smack here since the beginning, you all are like brothers to me, brothers fight each other. Thankfully in real life, I only have 3 sisters, no brothers. OCNBLU has a favorite truck 54 Chevy. Hard to talk about warranty and 'Blu when the warranty on his ride of choice went away when IKE was in the White House.1 point

See @ccap41 post about the number of EV9 recalls. Last I checked, they are not ICE. And data from the last ten years would suggest your opinion about Honda vs Toyota to be off as well. Doesn’t matter though. You made the post for one reason. To troll Toyota.1 point

Having recalls does not equate to reliable or unreliable. Those things are not mutually exclusive. A vehicle can be reliable with a ton of recalls or completely unreliable with zero recalls. A post isn't complete without a political statement by David.1 point

Lucky me, the American EV9s that have been built does not affect me. Fasteners on the second and third row chairs was not an issue, I had them torqued just fine. Instrument cluster issue never affected me, but I got the software update and still no issue. I do not use the smart parking assist feature nor does my wife, we got the software update fix on our last service visit. My interior ceiling panel was not one of the affected recalled units. Seat Belt retractor issue was also not an issue as it did not affect my EV9 as part of that recall. Driveline differential unit was inspected and found torqued to the right spec. Not an issue. I suspect that the reason my EV9 has not been affected by the recalls is it was part of the initial launch units which Kia spent I believe more time on making sure everything was right before shipping from Korea. I know that a Gen 1 unit can have it's issues, but so far, been one of the most reliable autos I have owned, especially being a Gen 1 unit. The whole point in posting about Toyota is that if @A Horse With No Name wants a Rav4 Hybrid or older ICE version, that is fine with me and his choice. I just want to point out the recalls and make sure he does his due diligence to ensure that any issues are addressed before one buy new or used. That goes for you @ccap41 or @surreal1272 or anyone here, even @ocnblu as I would not want anyone to get a lemon or buy and have to deal with expensive repairs. No one deserves to have to deal with that. Happy 4th to everyone as I hope you can find solitude in the destruction of our democracy.1 point

Yes Kia has plenty of Recalls and I would NOT recommend any ICE product from them. Honda has also had plenty of recalls, but I would actually say more reliable than Toyota in the last Decade. The Honda Prologue I made them aware of the issue when they bought this last weekend. Overall, they are very happy with it and understand that software updates are a thing that will happen as Honda has committed to have quarterly updates. We will see how it goes. Overall, still loving my EV9 and how solid it has been. Yes, a few weird glitches in the software, but the latest update from Kia seems to have fixed it.1 point

Shall I provide a list of competing Kia recalls (including ones from MY OWN Kia Sorento) @G. David Felt? How about we start this instead? Hope you informed your friends about this on their Honda Prologue with the same "vigor" that you put out those recalls on the RVA 4. https://hondanews.com/en-US/honda-corporate/releases/release-410d07897fdd63d8043cb72750086bf1-2024-honda-prologue-control-link-recall1 point

Europe and China have shown huge monthly decreases in sales based on monthly recording of registrations. This coming Wednesday we will see the quarterly reporting worldwide for Tesla. The head of global sales has quit and left taking the blame for falling sales which should fall on Musk. Analyst are calling for a further 11% reduction in sales by Tesla with a full year decline of 8% Tesla quarterly deliveries seen falling again1 point

I have to totally disagree with the Chinese 996 work approach. This is total BS. Scale AI’s 30-year-old billionaire cofounder has a warning for anyone who craves work-life balance: ‘maybe you’re not in the right work’1 point

Just be careful, the quality like many has issues if you buy used especially. I have a friend who whole family has been Toyota for generations and their extended family in Mongolia has been Toyota and lately they have had issues with their Rav4's. Just traded it in on a Honda Prologue. They were tired of the repairs. Currently, there are recalls affecting certain 2024 Toyota RAV4 vehicles due to issues with brake caliper bolts that may not be properly tightened, posing a risk of brake failure. Details of Current Recalls 2024 Toyota RAV4 Recall: Issue: Some vehicles may have bolts that secure the front brake caliper and wheel hub bearing improperly tightened. This can lead to potential detachment of the brake caliper or front wheels, increasing the risk of a crash due to reduced braking performance or loss of vehicle control. 2 Action: Toyota dealers will inspect and tighten the affected bolts free of charge. If any components are damaged, they will be replaced at no cost to the owner. Notifications to owners began in early February 2025. 2 2 Sources Additional Recalls: 2013-2018 RAV4: A recall was issued for certain models due to battery issues that could lead to a short circuit and potential fire risk. This recall involved over 1.8 million vehicles and required replacement of the battery hold-down clamp and related components. 1 2020-2021 RAV4 Hybrid: There was also a recall related to airbag deployment issues, which required inspection and potential replacement of the Occupant Classification System sensor. 10 points
