Rumorpile: Audi To Buy Ducati Motorcycles.. Umm What?!

    William Maley

Well, this is different. Car Magazine is reporting that Audi has signed an agreement with Italian motorcycle maker, Ducati to possibly buy them. The deal would cost of 850 million euros (about $1.1 billion) The 850 million includes a 800 million euro debt. Sources at Audi tell Car the company will most likely offer between 50 to 100 million euros and take on the large debt load.

So, why is Audi interested in Ducati? Well there are three reasons. One: Audi has a bit of motorcycle history with former brands DKW and NSU. Two: Ducati chairman Andrea Bonomi has said he views "'Ducati as the two-wheel equivalent of Audi". Three: Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piëch has been wanting Ducati for the longest time. Back in 2008, Piëch said it was mistake not buying Ducati at the time.

However, Audi isn't the only wanting Ducati. Mercedes-Benz, who's own AMG performance division is a partner with the brand and India's Mahindra are also in the running.

    • United and Delta are two airlines I avoid as they fly old, cramped planes and seem to not really care about the customer, much better options from other airlines. I will say that I do like flying on Lufthansa as they are comfy, great service and so much better than many of our older legacy companies. Have to add AA to the do not fly list with United and Delta.
    • Sadly when you do not have a majority and too many idiot GOPs are drinking the Kool-Aid then yes, you cannot get past the initial impeachment, but if both house and senate can get a solid majority that the GOP cannot overcome, then yes, they can send his corrupt ass to jail. Sending troops into Blue state cities will only cause the next revolution in this country. He is an idiot and fascist and we are in dangerous times. I would not want any sane human coming to the U.S. as we have way too many ignorant morons causing issues just like this idiot boarder patrol person.   These kinds of people are so ignorant and need to lose their jobs. This is NOT what America is about. Deport him to wherever his heritage is from.
    • Speaking of Lufthansa, I watched a recent video on YT about how Lufthansa is the only major carrier still with a fleet of 747s...because they do their own maintenance, have a large supply of parts, etc.  Thought that was interesting. I haven't been across the pond lately, but my sister just got back from a couple weeks in France, flew Delta from JFK to Paris and back.  Said the 767s were cramped in 'comfort' seating.
    • I had a Nissan Sentra rental car in late August in Colorado Springs.  It was a decent drive, but unfortunately had the base screen...no nav, so I had look at my phone screen to navigate...though I knew where I was most of the time, some streets had changed in the 15 years since I was last there.  And I ended up in an area in the mountains w/ no phone service. Went up in the mountains to Woodland Park and Cripple Creek, decent enough power at 6000-7000 ft elevation.
