    Cell Phones

AT&T service with a Blackberry Pearl phone. My reception is pretty good just about wherever I go...Indianapolis, Los Angeles, indoors, outdoors--you name it, I generally have it. My phone tends to be the one that works when no one else's gets service. As for the phone, I love my Blackberry. I love everything about it. The Google apps for it allow me to have Gmail, Gmaps, Google Search, as well as a few other functions. Never have had any problem with it. I did replace the trackball and bezel for a grand total of $14 after 14 months due to the bezel falling off. The only reason this happened is that sand would occasionally get caught in the trackball when I'd be at the beach, and I'd have to remove the bezel and trackball to blow it out. After time, the bezel just wouldn't stay in. Monthly bill is $200, and includes the unlimited data plan, which is necessary if you get a lot of emails and/or text message alerts like I do, or plan on surfing the net. The net has saved me numerous times on vacations to get info on restaurants, locations, directions, and the Gmaps let me get driving directions if I go somewhere in LA I've never been before. Even the Google search comes in handy on a daily basis as I can quickly fact check things, or help a professor out when he does not remember the name of something during class. Phone: A AT&T: A- Overall: A
  2. HEY!! I REMEMBER THAT PHOTO!! Still priceless months later.
  3. Apparently there's another related procedure...NIPPLE BLEACHING! For people who think their nipples are too dark??? Some people should just spend their money on therapy...

    McCain's trend

While I respect McCain's service, it gave me great pause to learn that Veteran's Groups give McCain a lower ranking on Vet issues than Obama. McCain fought the new GI Bill until it was politically untenable to do so.
  5. Shouldn't need to do what, glance away from the front windshield for a millisecond? Doesn't really bother me. I'm also not a fan of voice recognition as IMO it never works as well as it is advertised, and it means having to talk. When I'm by myself, the only speech I want to hear is what's coming through on Jonesy's Jukebox.

OK this was funny...when I read "top hillary fundraiser" I was thinking how relative that must be, because Hillary never raised much money, and I believe is still very much in debt. Then I read the article, and this "top fundraiser" only managed to raise $100,000 for Hillary. And as noted above, Obama will be one of the beneficiaries of a $28,500/plate fundraiser for 250 people. Hmmm.

WHAT? That's a large leap in logic. I only recall Obama mentioning the U.S. must be willing to strike Pakistan in pursuit of Al Quaeda, and this was over a year ago. I even found a source: http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNew...132206420070801
  8. I won't knock her for trying to secure earmarks. That IS her job. But her constituents who wanted it didn't suddenly change their minds. She bowed to outside pressure, and has now been continuing to baldface lie about it for the past two weeks. THAT is the WTF moment, because why keep lying something when it's so obvious and easily-proven otherwise? That's just weak character, questionable ethics, and poor judgment. Sorry, I've already had 8 years of that, don't need 4 more.
  9. Can I have what you're on? It seems powerful.

    McCain's trend

Huh?? I read the article...he wasn't delaying troop withdrawal; he was wanting to delay making a plan for withdrawal until after November because Congress should be involved, and the Bush administration has shown its blatant disregard for Congress. Frankly, that's smart. Would you REALLY want Bush to screw up one more thing on the eve of his moving day? The only way this could reasonably be interpreted as a withrawal delay is if you truly believed that sll the troops were coming home within the next year. No matter what party wins, that ain't happening (nor should it, as that would be irresponsible politics).

When and where was this? And what's your source? EDIT: This isn't entirely accurate. RNC Talking Points Memo spin for sure. Facts: DNC Fundraiser in Beverly Hills. 250 on invite list. $28.5K per plate. Followed by a $2.5K per ticket performance by Barbara Streisand. Majority of fundraising goes to DNC. Obama will get a smaller portion of the proceeds. Source: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13471.html So, some wealthy donors are having a fundraiser, yet somehow this makes Obama "out of touch" because he's a guest of honor and some of the funds will go to his campaign? Let me tell you a little secret, gm4life: Obama isn't paying a cent for this, let alone $28.5k... Fundraisers are funny things--look at all the articles (I found the same information in a conservative blog as I did on Politico) and note something: $9M is the projected amount fundraised by the event. That's for DNC and Obama. Do the math. 250 ( 28,500 + 2,500) = 250 ( 31,000) = 7.75M . That per person plate cost is over 86% of the total projected funds to be raised. So who's out of touch? The guy who knows how to fundraise and is running a VERY financially impressive campaign, or the spinmeisters over at RNC who think Americans are too stupid to understand how a basic fundraiser works? And now for "fair and balanced": McCain has also had many high-dollar fundraisers, so glass houses and stones should apply.

Gun control and anti-gun are two very different things. I believe Americans have the right to own a gun...but I also favor strict regulation of that for safety purposes.
  13. For certain functions, yes. Volume, seek forward, programmed radio stations, fan speed, and temp are all redundant on the steering wheel. Anything other than that and I have to glance down briefly. I certainly wouldn't classify it as any more "taking my eyes off the road" than when checking one's mirrors.
  14. Press where the backlighting is? Shouldn't be too difficult.

On the one hand, I see your points, but on the other...I've learned some new things from this thread that I've been able to take away and discuss with other, less decided people offline. I'd like to see this stay open, especially since there will be some new things appearing between now and November.

Cool. Such as...? That would be difficult since Obama hasn't completely reversed his principles, or lied so consistently blatantly throughout his campaign. Seriously, what are some substantive, policy, and/or fact-based (i.e. NOT subjective) criticisms of Obama? And link to articles that back up your proof. Can you please do that for me?
  17. How is it bad for maintanence? I'd assume since there aren't individual buttons, it would be EASIER for maintanence.
  18. Now THAT'S how you do an interior, GM! Love that they aped Apple's whole iPod control scheme here...are they the first? Why hasn't anyone else done that? My only gripe is that the shifter treatment seems to rob the center stack of storage. Is this really necessary?

To be more accurate, who's making more than $111k?
  20. It's only hypocritical if the politician is railing against what they themselves engage in. At the time, Reagan was NOT a card-carrying Neocon. As much of a true Blue voter as I am, I will always have tremendous respect for Ronald Reagan.
  21. I agree with Oldsmoboi, and wholeheartedly with Enzora. His upbringing was very similar to mine, and as I've alluded to in another, past thread, I look at the economics/public health side to the abortion debate: that banning it would decrease safety and accountability because abortion would go underground, and the decreased safety would lead to more ER visits due to botched abortions and/or women trying to force a miscarriage through coat hangers and/or throwing themselves down the stairs. IMO, it is best to keep it legal, but regulated.
  22. Saturn can only dream about the transaction prices Oldsmobile was able to achieve with ease. Relaunch the damn thing as Opel. New brand, no Rubbermaid polymer craptastic build quality baggage, and no expectations of cheap prices. GM's hemorraging cash, so why not eliminate unnecessary rebadging?
  23. I don't want to be too much of a purist, but a RWD Riviera just seems...very odd. WHAT COMPETITION?!?! Good lord, unless the Pontiac gets every single one of the nifty little features the Cadillac gets, has identical dimensions, and near-identical styling...hell no, I can't see those two being cross-shopped EVEN THEN!! This is why GM is so fracking retarded: they do not yet understand that vehicles with price differentials of $20K DO NOT COMPETE! Being a "value leader" is nothing more than putting a "RENT ME!" sticker on a car. Who cross-shops the SLR and XLR? Those two vehicles actually are in the same segment...yet here's Cadillac stressing about a RWD Pontiac stealing its thunder. HELLO? Cadillac? Where was all the outrage in the 90s when you could get an OldsmoBuiCadillac Sedan d'Aurora Avenue?
  24. Wahoo! Time to pop the champie...
  25. Pfffft. Cadillacs are all very high margins. That's all that matters. Oh, and despite close to 30 years of poorly considered product, they STILL have a good brand image.
