  1. I bought a Bluetooth headset (to be accurate, it's more like an earpiece) with my cell phone. I'd highly suggest one for guys who need to answer calls on the road (and whose phones work with Bluetooth).
  2. So you say sales dictate how good a vehicle something is? That sounds like Toyota lover logic there, Balthy. :AH-HA_wink:
  3. Ford's Not the Only One with Engine Supply Issues... Toyota Motor Corp. has a simple math problem. It is preparing to build about 2.2 million cars and light trucks a year in North America by 2010. But it only has the capacity to produce 1.45 million engines annually, a shortfall of more than 700,000 engines. So it was no secret that Toyota was looking for a site to build a North American engine and transmission plant. Now sources inside and outside the company say Toyota has scrapped that plan in favor of a wave of expansions at one or more of its existing engine plants. Autoweek
  4. 0-Day 4-Door Wrangler Supply? Jeep dealer Chuck Eddy in Austintown, Ohio, was used to waiting until spring for Jeep Wrangler customers to show up. When autumn came, sales of the old two-door Wrangler would pretty much dry up. That's because the previous Wrangler, sold with two doors only, was a "box on shocks," a rough and ready vehicle with a drop-down top and side windows made of plastic. It was noisy and the ride bouncy, but it could go anywhere. Wrangler drivers got closer to the elements than drivers of other vehicles. All that changed when the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited four-door arrived last fall. These days Eddy has zero days' supply -- in the midst of a harsh winter. "I can't remember when it was zero days' supply," he says. "If you order now, it's a 45-day turnaround." Autoweek
  5. Yeah, because calling someone a "J-p" is just as innocent calling you "white" or "caucasian". I didn't even tell you to stop using the word; I just said using it makes you look ignorant. Use it all you want, just don't expect me to respect you for it. f@#k it, I'm done with this thread.
  6. Respecting people and not using hateful terms to describe them is "P.C.B.S." Good to know where you stand.
  7. What? You don't find anything wrong with that four-letter word you used above? Would you call a Japanese person that to their face?
  8. This is making me sick... I'm not getting into a pissing match of who commited the worse crimes to humanity. Once again, people feeling the need to drudge up the past has shot another thread to hell. BTW, racial slurs don't help to bolster your argument. It just makes you look ignorant. Just a heads up.
  9. I don't give a damn if you're Mongolian. It's still a stupid thing to say. Selling import-branded products is not being a "traitor", it's called earning a living.
  10. Having a direct hand in the Holocaust torturing and killing millions of innocent men, women and children based on nothing more than prejudice and hatred (not to mention anyone who dared to stand aganist them) is as bad a selling a Toyota... That may be the most retarded thing I have ever read on here.
  11. Automakers back single crash rating Automakers on Wednesday offered support for a Bush administration proposal to overhaul the government's crash test program for new vehicles and create a single safety ranking. The major problem with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration program is that nearly all vehicles pass current tests, making it difficult for consumers to differentiate between vehicles. NHTSA wants to toughen the voluntary standards, some of which haven't been changed significantly since the program's creation in 1979, as well as reduce three crash ratings to one. At a public hearing Wednesday in Washington to hear experts' comments on the program, General Motors Corp., Honda and Toyota all endorsed the effort to give vehicles a single overall ranking for performance during simulated frontal, side and rollover crashes. 12. Please tell me you didn't just equate selling Japanese cars to fighting as a Nazi soldier in WWII...
  13. Thanks for the info. I made my decision yesterday and didn't end up with a Intel-powered rig at all as it turned out. The notebook I orginally wanted was sold out everywhere. So I chose this: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=15901
  14. Please don't lump all Japanese design in with that...thing.
  15. Any non-US source is considered foreign, so yes. Canada is our biggest single country supplier. Mexico is the second.
  16. If I've done my calculations correctly, 10.6% of imported oil comes from Venezuela; only about 4.3% of our imported oil comes from Iraq. So on the whole, the total amount of petroleum we get from unfriendly nations is not that high. They certainly aren't the majority. And put quite simply, we need foreign oil and there's no way around it. Unless you know of a way to cut our oil use by about 60-some-odd percent. You want to putter around in a 10hp golf cart, go right ahead. Leave the gas chuggers for me. I'm not saying we should do nothing about our oil use but castrating our cars is an avenue I don't want to go down.
  17. ...and I'm using it right now. HP dv2210us AMD Turion 64 X2 1.60 GHz 1024 MB DDR2 RAM 120GB HD 8x DVD+/-RW DL burner w/Lightscribe NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Vista Home Premium And as a plus, the notebook is gorgeous (black lacquer owns all). It's a significant reason why I bought it. This definitely kicks the crap out of the two junkpiles currently sitting next to me.
  18. I'd have one of those... ...I've always liked the Nissan Titan.
  19. Toni: That laptop looks good but it's way out of my price range. I've pretty much decided on getting a new notebook now and there's one more question I have: Is there an appreciable speed difference between a Pentium Dual Core processor (in this case a T2060) and a Core 2 Duo processor (the entry level/slowest one)? I'm not looking for an absolute powerhouse but I don't want to find myself yearning for more power down the line.
  20. The weather here has been schizo today. Overcast... ..to partly sunny... ...then flurries (while still sunny)... ...to overcast again... ...to heavier snow... ...which stopped... ...and now there's a dusting of snow coming down with moderate wind.
  21. Z: Admittedly, a laptop isn't essential but it would make life a hell of a lot easier (and less boring) for me. And I'm getting tired of being tethered to one spot to use my computer at home or otherwise. Caprice, Buick: I have to level with you. I'm extremely impatient/lazy on this issue. I've done the "build-it-yourself" route before. That's how my current desktop came to be. Fun when I first did it, but this time I just want something out of the box for a change. And trust me when I say this thing is not worth restoring. I want something totally brand new. Thanks for the input, so far.
  22. The slowness is mainly on the hardware end. The processor, hard drives (which are pathetically small BTW -- another gripe), and video card are all gravely outdated. It'd be cheaper to buy a whole new system than to try and speed this one up (especially since I want Vista).
