  1. I remember reading a magazine article that stated the new G35 sedan's engine was harsher than the first generation's. I wonder if this 3.7 will address the issue. Either way, I'll take something else without a 4WS system that will explode and cost the owner thousands later in the car's life.
  2. I don't think Toyota is going to let it deteriorate as easily as GM did.
  3. Now if we could just get GM to market the hell out of this...
  4. This kind of thing is ridiculous. I can take ANY car on the road, pick some minute detail, and say that it was copied or unoriginal because it HAPPENS to remind me of some other minute detail of some other car. Get real. I'm sure GM said, "Hey, that new Jetta is lookin' pretty hot. New Malibu anybody?" In case you haven't noticed, ALL midsize FWD sedans share styling similarities. Did they all get together and rip each other off? I don't think so.
  5. Brougham-Holiday, meet globalization. Globalization, meet Brougham-Holiday. I suppose you have a better suggestion as to how GM can compete in an industry where they pay higher wages, have to deal with healthcare, pensions, and other miscellaneous UAW BS while their competitors have none of the above costs and a government that manipulates its country's currency? Do tell.
  6. It was pretty good. I liked the fact that it wasn't the typical war movie.
  7. Ah, 13mpg is a worst case scenario. If you want to use the Impala as an example, I have talked to an owner of an SS who claims he gets nearly 30mpg on the highway. With that said, a diesel would no doubt get even better mileage. Here is a proposal: If it has the performance, the 2.9 should be offered as an uplevel engine option, not merely a fuel sipping alternative. Many people will NOT pay $4-5k just to get a few extra mpg's (notice I didn't say everyone, because some would and do). However, if I am paying $5k for a V8 like performance upgrade over a 6 cylinder (or 6 over 4) AND much better mileage to boot, suddenly the cost becomes easier to stomach.
  8. Oh, GM. Another loss thanks to the dinosaur age 4 speed.
  9. +1,000,000 Indeed. How soon people forget that these increased sales mean nothing if GM is LOSING big money on every one. While products are the key to this turnaround, it is certainly not the only factor that will bring success. Oh, and thank you to the crappy hosting company that runs this place. Triple post for the lose.
  10. There is no statement that could ever be more true than this. Considering the trouble that GM and Ford are in now, a growth rate like this in health care costs is scary.
  11. It would be nice if recalls like this didn't happen, but it's good to see GM catching this before any incidents have even been reported. I can't say that much for Toyota.
  12. Considering 3-spokes look great, I hope not.
  13. Exactly... and that's not even the 5.3 V8 in the SS. That's why I'm remaining optimistic. Good mileage in a heavy, powerful car isn't something that's never been done before. Add a torque-biased engine with AFM and a 6 speed auto and it looks promising.
  14. The Impala SS weighs 3800 and has a 4 speed. It still gets 18/28. For years, the G-bodies have been ~4000 lbs and getting mid-high 20's on the highway. All I'm saying is that it's possible the GT could get good mileage for what it is--but then again, it might get crappy mileage like you say. A 17/25 rating hasn't stopped the 300C from moving off the lots. We'll just have to wait and see how much of a guzzler this L76 is. There's always the V6. I'll be interested to see how that performs.
  15. It's not fair to assume that the G8 GT is going to have poor gas mileage simply because it has a V8. The LS based engines have always been very fuel efficient in car applications (6 speed LS1 F-bodies had no problem hitting nearly 30mpg on the highway). Considering that the variant in the G8 will have AFM and use either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic, I would bet it will get at least very high teens in the city and mid to high 20's on the highway. That's not too far off from a 2005 GP GT's 20/30 rating. If potential buyers can't handle the V8's mileage, let's not forget that the G8 is going to available with the 3.6. The last GTO was a dud because it's styling didn't live up to it's name, not because it was RWD and had a V8. Those were the redeeming factors that sold them at all. I'm not so sure it is a matter of whether or not people want a V8 RWD car but more a matter of FWD being dead. Time has already told. Nobody can argue the success of the 300/Charger/Magnum, but on the other hand, nobody can attribute the success SOLELY to the fact that these cars are RWD. The styling and uniqueness of these cars is what sold them BUT they never would have been as successful as they are without RWD and an available Hemi. RWD alone isn't going to save GM's cars. RWD in a stylish package with features that people want (and an optional V8) all at an reasonable price is guaranteed to.
  16. I wasn't expecting it to directly help to stop the errors from occuring. Something has to motivate the admins to try harder. If it's been going on for months and it hasn't been fixed obviously whatever they are doing to get it resolved isn't enough. I assume the administration is paying for the services of these jokers. The customer is always right. Seems to me this hosting company doesn't care much about keeping C&G's business.
  17. OK guys. How about I make a new thread every time this happens until you get it fixed? Within a few days, the entire front page of the Feedback forum will be covered in my posts.
  18. Amen. That was quite possibly the most ridiculous argument, ever. Then you add in the fact it took place in a thread about trucks, and wow.

There will without a doubt be aftermarket for the CTS. Non-stock suspension parts may or may not take away from the ride quality. Regardless, plenty of luxury brands have pulled off the right look while still maintaining great ride quality.
  20. BINGO! That is why I hate seeing all these people with their claims, "OMG Honda's are torqueless wonders, you gotta drive the thing at 9999999rpms 24/hrs a day OMG what a piece of garbage." Get a grip. Let's compare how many complaints there are regarding the power/torque curves of Honda engines to the number of complaints there are about NVH in GM's pushrod V6's. I wonder which number is bigger.
  21. You have to be kidding me, right? With your credentials, I am surprised you would look to CR as a credible source of information. GM could hand build a vehicle completely from titanium that never needed any maintenance and ran for 500,000 miles and CR would still take a nice, stinky dump all over it. Toyota could build a vehicle out of popsicle sticks, Elmer's glue, and paperclips and CR would announce that finally, Toyota had recreated God's own Chariot. Out of curiosity, what do Colorados/Canyons typcially come in to be serviced for?
