Toyota News: 2027 Toyota Highlander EV: Specs, Range, Price & Trim
Kia and Hyundai are pretty much committed to their new EV name space as they have all categories pretty much covered and yet for everyone else, it makes sense to stick with their original names, pretty much Genesis realized this early and in 2023 when announcing the 2024 EV models changed to using their existing names so you had as an example a GV60 or GV60 EV. Makes sense to stick to their original naming.

Toyota News: 2027 Toyota Highlander EV: Specs, Range, Price & Trim
Since there is no mention from Toyota about a 2027 Grand Highlander, the dealerships have indicated it is dead and that would be on par with the released information where the 2027 Highlander is equal in length with a longer wheelbase than the Grand Highlander. The Highlander EV has a longer wheelbase, contributing to its larger interior dimensions. The Highlander EV is designed to be a spacious and comfortable vehicle, with the ability to accommodate up to eight passengers, including adults in the third row. The Grand Highlander, on the other hand, offers more cargo capacity and a more traditional SUV design, making it suitable for those who prefer a larger vehicle with more space for cargo than passengers. Per Toyota press release. I would not be surprised to see them produce the Grand Highlander for 2026 and kill it since no 2027 model has been announced. This lets the 2027 Highlander EV take over since it is a 3 row EV with adults in the third row unlike the current Grand Highlander that is kids only in the 3rd row. Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 are clearly direct competitors for this. Yet with the Toyota Name, I expect many will make the jump to the Highlander EV.

What Are You Listening To?
I feel the U.S. music scene is pretty sad right now. I will say that the Korean K-Pop scene is HOT HOT HOT! Love me some Black Pink as well as Rain and Hyolyn as well as many others. American Music is more now Gorillaz, Muse, Imagine Dragon, The Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Depeche Mode for me.

Toyota News: 2027 Toyota Highlander EV: Specs, Range, Price & Trim
That is interesting to know, I have not found any online info from Toyota about the future of the Grand Highlander and the dealerships here have said it is going away, so will be interesting to see how Toyota address this. They also could be vague as they might want to see how many will flip to this as the 3 row SUV that folks are buying now. I will agree with you that this is nice looking and way better than past Toyota SUVs. I have been impressed with the specifications, but like you would like to see the inside, comfort and drive it to see how it responds compared to my EV9.

Toyota News: 2027 Toyota Highlander EV: Specs, Range, Price & Trim
Interesting observation is that before the 2027 EV launch of this Highlander, Toyota used to have the 2 row Highlander and then you paid more for the 3 row Grand Highlander. One Highlander to replace two and yet dealerships here in the PNW have raised prices on the few remaining Grand Highlanders for those that want a Gas-powered Hybrid over EV. I have some family friends who were planning to get a Grand Highlander later this year and are now moving up their timeline as they are not comfortable to go EV yet even with the rang that the 2027 Highlander has. One benefit is that Toyota has NOT really changed the Grand Highlander for the last 3 years, so buying a certified used with low miles does save over taking the depreciation hit. Interesting observation is that in the PNW, I find plenty of 2026 and 2025 already certified used with miles of 1,000 to 13,000 miles as about a $20,000 discount which is very interesting to me and makes me wonder what the real story is on these used certified models.

This Munro break down of Kia EV9 motors confirms why it is now to me the BEST EV out there. BMW has choosen to go complex with multiple motors to do what Kia is doing with one. https://www.emobility-engineering.com/bmw-gen6-two-motor-800v-edrive-cylindrical-battery/ Mercedes is following Porsche with a gear box and a much less efficient electric motor imho. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mercedes-Benz-EQE-and-EQS-EVs-rumoured-to-get-800v-refresh-with-in-house-motors-and-two-speed-gearbox-in-2025.742727.0.html

My issue is the complexity over having an EV motor on the axel. I honestly do not get the need for this type of transmission. Software can usually handle adjustments to optimize efficiency. This story nails it why the dual stage EV9 Motors are better than using an eCVT. The Kia EV9 Has Motors Unlike Any Other EV

@A Horse With No Name My little Chevy Aveo Finally died, replacing it with a Camry probably. The 2026 models are all Hybrid. So how many miles do you drive it a day? The price of a new Camry Hybrid is so much more than many returned used EVs. A Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5 would be good considerations. Even cheaper if you can handle the 149 miles of a base Nissan Leaf or 212 range in their SV Plus you can get these cars very cheap. Even if you use 110V charging, you would still save tons of money.

The part that is now bolded, Italicized and underlined, I am totally confused by. How can it be velvety and yet not as smooth as a C3? I get the disconnected road to cabin and no steering wheel communication at low speeds as it is a hybrid system so not a true drive by wire but also not a true traditional steering wheel system. Hydraulic with electric assist so that is a downside being very vague road feedback via the steering wheel.

This VinFast Pickup is awesome, wish we had something like this at this price point here. ' https://autopostglobal.com/latest-scoops/photo-report/article/99041/ GM missed the boat in focusing on 6 figure pickups when they could have owned the market if they delivered what VinFast is delivering globally except for here due to incompetent leadership.

Yes, the incompetent leadership is hurting this country more than helping and talk about wasting billions on repainting planes into his stupid colors as if it would last and he clearly did not listen to the science that shows his colors cause overheating and issues with the electronics on the plane.

Interesting, I am far more satisfied with my Kia over anything I have seen, experienced with Tesla. I think BMW is nailing it right now especially compared to Mercedes. Interesting is that Tesla is considered Luxury and yet my EV9 is more expensive than Tesla garbage. I totally agree with the JD Powers EV Ownership Experience. True they could have done better, but then if that is all they are loaned by the companies, who can you blame but the company who loaned a single stage to go up against a dual stage. Kinda like folks that compare dual pane to triple pane windows and complain about the cost without looking at the full picture. This comparison had some valid data but agree with you that it could have been a fairer comparison of like units. Makes one wonder if he clearly stated he wanted all dual stage units or just asked for a snow blower to compare.

I am seeing allot of non mental jobs that can be easily done by an AI bot get done, like you pointed out, the cleaning up and organizing of paperwork just so a company can then make intelligent decisions to move forward but this is over the next 5 to 10 years imho. I do not ever plan to retire, but I do see my job evolving and with that what I might have to do in 20 to 30 years will look very different than today.
