Could Jaguar be on Deaths Door? Jaguar Land Rover just killed their MLA platform that the new All Electric XJ sedan was supposed to be on and is having to pay European auto commission $35 million for not meeting their 2020 required emissions target. As such, the MLA platform death will cost Jaguar a $1.4 Billion Euro write off. Jaguar will move forward with their EMA pure electric platform and give up on ICE and Hybrid. They also mention looking for a partner to help expand Jaguar as all products that were going to be built on the MLA platform by 2025 are now dead. Land Rover will move forward with Hybrid / EV built off the MLA platform. Honestly after reading this story, I question what the hell the executives are doing at JLR as there seems to be more politics and wasting of billions than a passion for building auto's. Seems Magna will bring a 25th manufacturing facility to Michigan as they just broke ground on a plant that will supply battery enclosures for Hummer EV. This plant will add 300 jobs to the local economy. 345,000 sq-ft facility is their new Magna Electric Vehicle Structures building and a $70 million dollar investment over the next few years. The plant is expected to go live in production in 2022 at the same time that the gm/LG battery plant goes live with production. Magna says they will supply battery enclosures for a growing list of auto companies in Steel, Aluminum, carbon and Multi-material configurations, customized to meet the needs of each customer at this plant. Wrong my friend. Cadillac has failed in many ways on the luxury front. Buick as well for a mid luxury auto. Chevrolet has a ton of failures right now in their auto's. gm has NOT been doing the right job in quality in a number of ways. While I have not spent any time in the FWD low end version of the Envision which the reviews you and others have pointed to, my time in the Envision Premium II is a very nice mid luxury ride. This is the FAILURE of gm and the Media. They compare two different levels and then apply their dislike to the whole product line and that is wrong. You get what you pay for and those that want some thing nice get it by saving and buying what they want, not just getting another appliance auto. I would never recommend a Buick Envision lower level trim with the base motor in FWD form. Too many decent incentives to get a fully loaded turbo model that makes driving it enjoyable. That is all. By now people should understand that about me. Trailblazer AWD SS, Escalade ESV Platinum, etc. I do not waste my valuable time and money on cheap stuff for instant gratification. The age of my auto's and how long they last shows that as I am driving a 2006 Escalade and 2008 Trailblazer SS. Polished, cleaned inside and out and maintained so that I get my maximum value out of an auto I enjoy driving.

I think Fisker is hurting for money as to why they abandon their Solid State battery. Without deep pockets, you cannot deliver and we already are aware that both Toyota and gm are planning to show off their solid state batteries this year in concept auto's. MEH, Sounds like a BMW lover driving these rather than the common women and men that do. I will disagree with the vague steering and body leans. The CUV is solid in driving and is not a race auto, performance auto, etc. It serves well for those that want a mid level luxury auto that makes driving a relaxing thing. My sister lives out of her Envision as an in home wound care nurse. She loves the way to handles and drives and did not like the harsh racer type of response the RDX/MDX gives. Again, that is personal opinion on how they feel the auto drives and others love it. The second and half difference to 60 is nothing now a days. My sister looked forward to driving her Envision every day as a relaxing drive to her patients compared to her Mazda she used to own that made her body feel tired. I think Buick hit the Refined Driving Experience as when you drive it, it is very relaxing and enjoyable and yet push the accelerator and it does move. Pay attention and you can pick up the slight Turbo delay, but over all, the auto delivers on response.

I do wonder how much of the existing use of various metals can be replaced by using lite weight high strength plastics / carbon fiber. That would be interesting to know the impact of those materials versus the pit mines. I know BMW has one of the worlds largest Carbon Fiber manufacturing plants in Moses Lake Washington as they off set their use in the i series auto's by selling spools of the fiber to Boeing for the Dream liner planes. Supposedly that is one of their greenest plants for BMW. BMW Group and SGL Group to triple production capacities at Moses Lake carbon fiber plant From 2014. Seems the Supercharged V8 in the CT5-V Blackwing could become the Escalade V edition which makes sense for a 3 ton auto with a .6G holding.
