Yes Honda had it on a tiny little car. GM did it on a Full size truck that could HAUL and the quadrasteer was awesome for trailering. It made it so much easier to backup and turn around when you had a trailer, the longer the easier it became. I question the sales comment as the last year they still sold very well yet not in the large numbers of the rest of the trucks. I think a business case could still have been made to make a Chevy and Cadillac version of a truck like this. @USA-1 I agree with you that the ELR was what GM should have done first at Cadillac but at around a $55,000 to $60,000 price and then roll out the VOLT at Chevrolet.

VW News: New Passat Comes In Cheaper Than Outgoing Model
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
Sweet Packages, so much better than anything GM has ever offered. For the R-Line, sad that it has Chrome, to me the R-Line should be monochromatic. -
Great technology, but sadly GM like always failed to market it and show the benefits that would justify the cost. Anyone who has driven one of the GMC trucks with Quadra steer knows how easy it is to park those awesome rides. Management stupidity for killing off the Avalanche / Escalade EXT. ?

GM News: Lordstown Sold to Lordstown Motors Corp
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
What about the investments for new tools, robotics, updates to manufacture auto's at that plant location. Would those capital investment costs not need to be put against the income side?- 21 replies

Some are and have proven that point by building a luxury auto the public wants, but Maseratti and Alfa is NOT what the public wants and has not been selling to be profitable proving that Luxury is not where the money is for everyone as by looking at Jeep and Ram.
-
WRONG, Luxury is NOT where money is at, that is proven by the success of Jeep and Ram. No luxury line of auto's but a line of auto's that transcends from entry to luxury. Complete product. PSA can and should kill those two brands and make better luxury auto's in other name plates.

Right, this is the truth, get the merge done, then start by looking at what needs to be cut to stop blood loss or kill off non-profit generating products. Dell Technologies like any other mega merging company did this with keeping everything till the merge was done, then reviewing everything and spinning the marketing story on how we can serve you better with this selection of products and that the few features missing are on the road map to be added to the new focused product line. I say in 2 to 3 years after the merger is finished, we will see the Guillotine start happening to the product line.

Some car EXCITEMENT for Hundai. Not bad, could be something to actually stir up the car interest if priced right. -
GM News: Lordstown Sold to Lordstown Motors Corp
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
This sounds to me like GM unloaded an expensive property to keep mothballed and will write off a loss against profits to help minimize a tax bill. I question Lordstown Motors ability to get capital and restart this plant. To me both Lordstown motors and Workhorse are dead companies walking.- 21 replies

Tesla products are sooooo Ugly to me and look dated. They have no style or Mojo, I honestly do not get what people think is so great about tesla other than they pushed the awesome EV technology. Interior is like being a minimalist, dead, lacks style, warmth or anything that says I am riding in a quality classy auto. I take the Jag iPace over a tesla or even an MB EQC over the Tesla. I honestly an very excited for the Rivian auto's and the Ford F150 over Tesla's truck. I suspect it will be just another geriatric blah EV.

Take it for the limited info I could quickly dig up, but while Mazda is at the bottom of the list for average age buyers compared to Toyota per Carmax, the two auto's we speak of here are opposite age groups. Miata has a much older age base of buyers that had exposure to manual transmissions. Toyota 86 is a Millennial thing where Flappy Paddles on an Xbox or Play station steering wheel and not exposed to actual manual transmission auto's. This tends to make sense.
-
According to the recent news, there are 48 models in the US for 2019 year that offer manual transmissions. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/best-manual-transmission-cars According to Statista, seems they will be around for a bit. https://www.statista.com/statistics/204123/transmission-type-market-share-in-automobile-production-worldwide/ Sadly while this might give some hope, Toyota has come out and clearly said Manuals are dead. https://www.hotcars.com/manual-transmission-toyota-sales-data/ Their sales data showed 2,800 or just 1% of all corollas sold were with a Manual transmission not justifying the investment. Tacoma and Yaris only 5% were manuals that were sold. Even their Toyota 86 only 33% were manual. The small amount of sales is not justifying the R&D costs and certification costs. Replacing Manual Transmissions is the Flappy Paddel that gamers have come to enjoy playing race games. Seems the youth of today do not want to row gears, but flap them instead! This is in comparison to Mazda that shows 76% of Miata's sold are manual here, but drops to single digits for their other autos. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/15/mazda-mx5-miata-manual-take-rate/

Gotta love that Sema is embracing EV's so well. GM it seems is going to offer electric power train crate motors that run on 800 Volt systems. One truck that used a dual setup for AWD was the E-10 Hot Rod truck. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125874_chevy-e-10-electric-hot-rod-truck-concept-has-a-double-shot-of-bolt-ev 450 horsepower, a 0-60 time in the 5.0-second range, and a quarter-mile time of approximately 13 seconds - LOVELY TRUCK 2020 Kia Iqonic EV got a boost to 38 kWh battery pack with an EPA rating of 170 miles. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125897_2020-hyundai-ioniq-electric-range-boosted-to-170-miles-for-most-efficient-ev-on-the-market

So much excitement coming to the EV world this fall. November 21st we finally get to see the Tesla Pickup Truck. Be interesting to see how it compares to Rivian who I still expect to get to market far ahead of Tesla. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/11/06/tesla-pickup-truck-reveal-november-21/ November 19th we get to see the New ID reveal at the LA autoshow for our EV from VW. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/10/30/vw-ev-concept-petersen-museum-la-auto-show/ November 17th is the official reveal of the production Ford Mach E at LA Auto Show. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/10/30/ford-mach-e-rendered-mustang-inspired-ev-crossover/ Spy photos are leaking of the flagship EQS EV from Mercedes-Benz https://www.autoblog.com/2019/10/29/mercedes-benz-eqs-interior-spy-shots/#slide-2180535 Fisker SUV reservations go live later this month on November 27th, the reveal is January 4th 2020. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/10/31/fisker-ocean-electric-suv/

Looks like a solid commuter basic auto.
-
Customer preference have changed we all know this, Once Trucks / SUVs are out, I think it will increase the move to EVs. I honestly think Rivian will be a hit and once Ford starts selling their Rivian built F150, that it will go over very well.
-
I think it is working enough to drive interest by those that can afford a new High 20K one when available or they wait for a use EV that is in that price range.

Buses from the north end exit at Stewart and go down and turn left onto 2nd Ave. I get off at 2nd and S Washington. I get back onto the bus to go north at 4th and S Jackson then up 4th and turn onto Olive way and ride it till the expressway, then buzz up north. January 2023 is when the eastside lite rail connects to Seattle and goes live. You can ride from Redmond into Bellevue and then across I90 to downtown Seattle where at 5th and Jackson you can change to either go up north on the lite rail or south.

Seems the reports of only early this year and late last year that battery price per kW would be $187 per kW by 2025 are way off after massive advancements have the battery industry heading to $87 per kW battery pack cost by 2025. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/new-report-cost-and-performance-of-batteries-improving-much-faster-than-forecast/
