  1. Very cool Conversion, a 1992 E30 BMW cabriolet had been converted to a LS V8 and was one fast road racer, it has since undergone another transformation with having a Tesla P85 power train and Chevrolet Battery packs installed into the E30 BMW and is now allowing you to never miss a yellow light again. Watch the video in the link below. https://www.thedrive.com/news/29886/a-tesla-swapped-e30-bmw-means-youll-never-miss-a-yellow-light-again
  2. This one is an interesting story, Honda is planning to buy more renewable energy than any other auto company in the US as it pushes to reduce it's CO2 footprint. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125226_honda-plans-to-buy-more-renewable-energy-than-any-other-automaker @Drew Dowdell Drew help me out here as I would like to better understand this. Is Honda just buying and reselling renewable energy with the end result is they get a green house gas exemption due to where their factories are located? It seems to me that Honda is paying for wind and solar power in exchange for a credit against the power they consume that is not renewable and as such the people around these renewable power plants are who really benefits? These deals always seem a bit confusing. Thank you
  3. According to this story, JFK airport has installed 38 charge points and is moving to change out the ground equipment used in support of airplane flights. The goal is to save 200,000 gallons of fuel and over 4 million pounds of Green house gas a year. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/jfk-airport-terminal-5-installs-38-charging-hubs-will-electrify-ground-equipment/ Exxonmobil has come out with a complete product line of EV fluids designed to allow EVs to travel farther on a single charge and reduce wear by extending component life. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/exxonmobil-launches-new-suite-of-fluids-and-greases-for-electric-vehicles/
  4. Rivian showed off along with their R1T silver truck a new Blue R1t with a darker interior. One of the reservation holders in Seattle video taped the event and the truck and posted to You Tube. I have to say I really like what I see, just need to get damn access to test fitting myself in the auto before I plunk down a deposit. Have to say I really have more respect from a business stand point for RJ over Musk. More info was also posted here in the story at Electek web site. https://electrek.co/2019/09/30/rivian-blue-r1t-electric-pickup-truck-prototype/
  5. VW might have to rethink their plans as 470,000 consumers in Germany alone are suing over Dieselgate. Makes one wonder if they even want to bother with Diesel anymore as we have only heard of the US where VW settled out over Dieselgate, I have to think billions more is going to have to get coughed up to settle this mess. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/09/30/vw-german-court-case-consumer-settlement/
  6. South Korean is pushing Hydrogen as an alternative to electric or petro, yet due to explosions, death and environmental concerns, Koreans are resisting to change over to hydrogen. To quote this story:Hydrogen stand operator Sung said while refueling itself takes about 5-7 minutes, the next driver must wait another 20 minutes before sufficient pressure builds in the storage tank to supply the hydrogen or the car's tank will not be full. This is the other problem is that the fueling sites are not allowed to hold much in storage, so there is a 20 min wait between fueling auto's to get a full tank. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/09/29/hydrogen-stations-south-korea/
  7. Bollinger B1 and B2 electric auto's. The original concept was a truck, now Bollinger has shown off their new B1 which is an SUV and the B2 which is a pickup. Big question is how will it pass safety tests as their does not appear to be any airbags in the auto's. Retro look much like the original Land Rover. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/09/26/bollinger-b1-b2-electric-truck-suv-unveiled/#slide-2172314
  8. They stayed pretty true to their sketches and yet I just do not care for the look of the front nose nor the fact that the top half of the auto looks like they squeezed the car to try and make it smaller but the wheel base kept it locked at that width. Reminds me of big lower body, with little head on top. Weird looking to me.
  9. Got it, that is very true, if they go Car2Go, that might work for people wanting to test out an EV. Yet a Lease for 1yr or 2yr where you can flip back n forth between the R1T and R1S would also be nice so that you can see what works best for you.
  10. Welcome to Cheers and Gears, glad to have you here. I would agree that I wonder if GM cares how you pronounce it as it is a dead auto now.
  11. Car2Go is now merged with BMW, heavily used here in Seattle. Wanted and tried to get into the private event for Rivian where they showed off their new Blue Rivian R1T. I got an email on Sunday after the Friday event saying they were sorry. Hopping to still get to one of these and test fit myself in them. I hope this works for them as I think this would be a great way for folks to test and try out a large size EV.
  12. Now ya got my curiosity perked, https://www.hotrod.com/articles/ultra-rare-1967-ford-fairlane-427-comes-out-of-hiding-after-25-years/ Had no idea only 57 of the 1966 Fairlane were built with the 427 and only 230 built for the 1967 year. Very cool read on this guys mission to find and finally buy 1 of 2 rare 1967 427 Fairlane with Tach and 4 sp manual. According to this, and I hate quoting wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Fairlane_(Americas) The 1967 convertible could be ordered up with the 427 which was only available with the XL package. This very well could be factory as the hood scoop came with the dual quad carburetor's. Very cool indeed and rare.
  13. What part since I have no knowledge of what these cars were originally like.
  14. Was at costco picking up a few things, came out and found this beauty parked by me.
  15. The first full conversion of a gas station has been done. Interesting it is on the east coast so close to some of you in Maryland. https://www-cnbc-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/09/26/first-gas-station-to-ditch-oil-for-electric-vehicle-charging-now-open.html
  16. These are perfect sleepers for putting in a Automatic Connect & Cruise crate system from GM Performance. https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/category/AUTOCC.html I love these packages.
  17. This would make total sense, buy up all the lame ducks, then fold them into the brands they want global and push out the Chinese products while killing off the Asian, European and American brands. Chinese domination of the world with some backlash.
  18. True, I was just thinking of the groups that seem to think everything is anti-trust and sue over every possible merger.
  19. OK, then they can sell one of them to this group if they can come up with the funds. ?
  20. Yes, that is James Earl Jones, he Rocks!
  21. One this makes sense as a common Hybrid / EV platform will allow a big reduction in costs compared to ICE platforms. Two Maeratis as well as all Italian auto's suck from a quality standpoint and yet that is my personal opinion based on real world experience with past autos from the brand. Reviews seem to also hold up to this. Three, FAILURE FAILURE FAILURE right out of the gate. WHY, Maeratis is saying the first EV will be a Car. HELLO McFly, anyone listening? Cars are pas say as the market has spoken and CUV/SUV/Trucks is where the focus needs to be. Honestly, does the FCA board not look at the market trends of where sales are at? Must be a bunch of baby boomer idiots on the board to allow the money waste on an EV car. ?
  22. Consolidation is what the auto company needs and this appears to me to be a first step in that direction. I wonder how it would be viewed here in America, I am sure there are those that would be yelling the Anti-trust crusade against this.
  23. Long ways to go but as multiple stories all over say, 67 days in 1970 from September 14th to November 23rd 1970. Be interesting to see what they do with the bonus program as GM paid every worker $1,000 per Billion dollars earned gross. That allowed GM to pay out a $10,750 bonus check last year. This year they were on target to break $11,000 on par with the last 2 years, but now with the strike, I am sure this will be much less as they also will figure in the signage bonus to accept the new contract. Anyone know if they have settled on a 3 or 5yr contract? I know GM was wanting a 5yr, but everything in the news seems to imply a 3yr is the focus.
  24. Hopefully GM is not giving into too many demands as they are already the best they have.
  25. I thought GM had a few other plants that were closing down also than just this one that got idled?
