I honestly cannot wait for ICE to go away as the noise is just that noise that I do not want or need and I hope that one can turn off the fake engine noise in the stereo system. I want to hear my music, not an auto. I also look forward to the days of Diesel being dead as just yesterday, I got off the bus to walk home, waiting for the light at an intersection and some 20 something idiot in his Ford Diesel stomps on it as he is getting ready to go through the intersection and belches out a cloud of black smoke that covers me and everyone else who got off the bus and he is laughing as he looks at us having just assaulted us with his noise, TOXIC soot and stupidity. These people are not understanding the reason for the diesel and why it can be eventually down the road replaced by quiet trucks that do not contaminate my air. Do not get me wrong, I totally appreciate a properly tuned tone coming from an auto and tail pipe, but I leave that to the track, those specialty auto's. For the most part quiet auto's for getting around so you can hear the natural sounds of our planet is best for me. ? Guess I am showing my almost 52 years of age.

Yes, I think eventually once Tesla has their truck, complete series from compact to full size CUV/SUV that the sedan will die too except for a limited amount of maybe 1 or 2 at most sedans.
-
I actually agree with this and as we move away form ICE auto's to skateboard platforms of EVs, if the public wants a sedan style coach, they will get it easily as the platform will allow a quick change in coach design to be attached to the skateboard. In this regards we are like back in the early 1900's when everything was body on frame and we had a multitude of coach builders using GM or Ford Frames.
-
Electrics will kill off the sedan as eventually with better battery tech, why go with the limits of a sedan when a CUV can cover much more. I see a niche market for cars in the future and that is for the long haul on how I see it.

Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
CNN Just broke with the first pictures of the hard top convertible and I have to say I like what I see. Should also sell well for GM. https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/02/cars/2020-corvette-convertible/index.html I do have to wonder how many dealers will bring in actual base models to have a $59,999 version on the lot. Most dealers seem to bring in mid to fully loaded models only. -
Sadly they think so and as such the original 4.5 Billion tunnel is up to 8.5 billion in cost overruns, long term union jobs versus the original 500 million to replace the viaduct with a new one in place same size. The tax payers of Washington voted down the tunnel and voted approval of the viaduct replacement. Politicians ignored the people and did the tunnel. Engineering aside, they got what they wanted and not the people. The people have since voted out the people who approved the tunnel as it also benefited the 1% crowd of building owners. We will see how crazy traffic gets as Nov 9th is when the tunnel starts charging for use. Starts at a low cost of $1 dollar and tops out at $2.25 during rush hour. for the 9 miles of tunnel. Our 405 toll road is $1 and tops out at $10. Crazy as it has not reduced congestion and at times, the Toll is stop n go just like the regular lanes.
-
Yes actually they could have gone 3 lanes across, but the politicians did not like only having emergency exits on one side of the tunnel and wanted both side to have emergency exits with 3 feet of shoulder space, do you have two lanes 14 feet wide and shoulders on both sides that are 3 feet plus emergency escape tunnels on both side big enough for emergency vehicles to come down in if needed, though they say most logical will be electric golf carts. End result is yes they could have had 3 lanes each direction if they accepted the original plan for only emergency exits on one side of the tunnel and 10 foot wide lanes.
-
Agree with you on the Plane comments. The Viaduct is gone, that portion is all done, the Tunnel is only 2 lanes in both directions as there is no Mid City exits like the Viaduct had, so reduced traffic and yet from my office window you can see it is slow craw through the tunnel. They should have built two tunnels with 3 lanes in each direction and 1 for HOV. But politicians are stupid and do not think that far in the future or future planning based on a city's growth, so while no payment has been made yet, it is already needing to be replaced with a bigger road. ? Where the Viaduct used to stand will now be parking for some areas, park area for others and this will be done over the next 1 1/2 years as they also remodel and update the waterfront.

Month to month is meaningless by a single month until you look at it over time and see the trends. Then that pattern shows the direction the industry / company is heading.

Yes for the year, but across the board sales are dropping off and in some cases big time. Be interesting to watch this over the last few month of the year.

Another Day, Another Dollar and the strike continues on, seems GM and the Union leadership are farther apart than everyone thought. https://www.autonews.com/assets/html/uaw2019/index.html Yea, kinda stupid what the union is asking for.

Wow, a rarity in the sales positiveness of both cars and CUVs.

For those that like Big Machinery, Seattle has open their new Under ground Alaska way freeway that replaced our Viaduct. This movie was assembled by the WSDOT and shows in speeded mode the removal of the Viaduct and reconnecting the city with the waterfront. You will see the Dell Technology building I work in at 4:55 in the video. This is the South end removal of the Viaduct that is only inches away from buildings.

OUCH, Clearly everyone is being hit hard by falling sales!

September 2019: Volkswagen of America

Glad to see that VW sales in SUV category is going up while cars sales are tanking. At least something is working for them after Dieselgate. -
September 2019: Toyota Motor North America

Nice Hybrid Sales being up big time, but even a company like Toyota that is down tells me we are going into a recession. -
September 2019: Subaru of America

I am honestly surprised that they are down that much for the month, but still on a positive growth for the year. For some reason thought they would have done better.
