Yes it will be interesting to see who ends up with their tech. I suspect 1/3 of Chinese auto start ups are under funded and with a global slow down will have many crash to be closed.

Anyone want to bid on one of 36 forgotten corvettes going up for auction? https://www.thedrive.com/news/29038/historic-collection-of-36-forgotten-chevrolet-corvettes-will-be-raffled-off-for-charity Very cool! See this shows your own Fanboi love of what you think are better auto's. The CTS Coupe stands apart from the rest of the Cadillac family unlike the Germans Generic all look the same. From top to bottom, from coupe to sedan, they just all blend in together.

Tariff war and global auto slow down is having it's first affect on taking out an Electric auto startup that started by buying a battery company startup and was known as SF Motors, then Seres Motors. They announced in April of this year production to start on an SF5 for the Chinese and US market. The old Hummer factory was purchased in South Bend Indiana is now mothballed again. Most of the staff in California has been laid off as the Chinese owned EV auto company tries to find a financial way to survive long term. They say this is a downsizing to survive, but it has gutted the bulk of the company and I do not see it coming back IMHO. Cool skateboard concept that was to underpin a 5 and 7 person CUV. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1124066_seres-ev-startup-postpones-us-launch-amid-downsizing

I LOVE the CTS Coupe, one of the best of their Science and Arts style unlike today's design.

@balthazar What do you think of the styling of the new Bentley Concept EXP 100 GT? https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/10/bentley-exp-100-gt-electric-autonomous-concept-car-revealed/#slide-2152025 I have to say I really like this car.

I have to say I like the looks of the newest version of Ford Puma CUV for Europe.

I have also noticed here in job hot Seattle that hiring has been frozen by lots of places and the amount of off site storage lots for auto's has exploded. So many all over. Definitely time to be cautious about taking on debt. Good read on the new Audi eTron and how it's first full month on sale nabed 856 units sold compared to Tesla 1,000 Tesla X units sold. https://fortune.com/2019/07/18/audi-shows-tesla-isnt-the-only-automaker-that-can-build-an-electric-vehicle/ Jaguar iPace sold 226 last month in comparison. Audi's seems to be the most roomy and has a 4000lb towing capacity. Very good review on an Electric CUV AWD. Interesting note is that Audi eTron purchase gains you access to the Electrify America re-charge network that VW is building due to Diesel gate and still Audi also announced that they will have online XFC or extreme fast chargers that the public can use with a credit card, debit card or EA member card with 300 Highway XFC charge locations and 650 metro XFC charge locations. Seems billions being spent on installing fast or extreme fast chargers will reshape the charging landscape. This will change much faster how folks use and get around as EVs are pushed out. Interesting note is that Tesla is going to push out their V3 charger network this fall and VW has stated that all new EV models coming out will move from 150kWh charging, aka the eTron to a 350kWh charging which means the GT car coming will charge the same size battery pack 100% in 15 min versus eTrons 30 min full recharge time.

58,000 Ford Focus being recalled for gas tank issue that could cause tank deforming and will be addressed with a software update. Very weird. https://fortune.com/2019/07/10/ford-recall-focus-tank-issues/

Very cool read on Formula E racing now in it's 6th season averaging over 400 million viewers and the fact that unlike Formula 1 ICE racing that has limited city appeal, Formula E racing has been invited to numerous lovely cities due to the reduction in noise and emissions pollution. https://fortune.com/2019/07/16/formula-e-racing-is-shaping-the-future-of-electric-cars/ According to this story, they are now pushing 900Volts that allows rapid minutes recharging and Audi and Porsche have all stated they will move to a new 900V system on their newer EVs. This will make re-charging faster than ICE refill times.

I have to say that I really like the looks of this Lotus Halo car and the design of the rear lights around the air flow holes to mimic afterburners on a fighter jet. Very cool.

Seems the Economy is going in the down direction. Interesting Read on some metrics that Warren Buffett follows. https://fortune.com/2019/07/17/warren-buffett-cap-ratio-tmc-gdp/ The last 3 recessions and the most current depression we lived through all began with bloated auto inventories and reduced RV shipments. Seems the RV industry has seen a 22% reduction in shipments this year and double digit increase in costs due to the various parts that are built in China. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/trumps-tariffs-trip-up-the-all-american-rv-industry/ar-AAEvISd?li=BBnb7Kz Interesting is that for every $20,000 in sales price of an RV, the tariff war has increased costs about $1,000. Auto inventories are now approaching 1 year on cars, 9 months on CUVs /SUVs and trucks. Great auto industry history here: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/categories/32993 Records go back to the 60's

GM News: GM Shelves Diesel Option for Equinox and Terrain
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Except for those of us into the auto scene, most people did not know about it due to the lack of marketing / use case focus story telling to move them. Kinda like some of the various auto's that Ford built and I think have a useful life yet are being killed off. Fusion should not be dying. Just saying. -
GM News: GM Shelves Diesel Option for Equinox and Terrain
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Very True +1000 I am seeing more and more couple my age late 40's to early 50's doing a Terrain AWD with RV setup to get away for a nice couples date weekend. GM is truly missing the cue on selling and moving metal with their piss poor marketing. Why is Rivian so popular even without selling a single truck or SUV EV yet? Marketing to the outdoor lifestyle of being green. If GM does not have a Truck and full size SUV in the next 18 months to show off what will be out within the next 24 months as an EV, they will lose out to those companies that can and will move forward. The folks that are plunking down their thousand dollar deposits on Vaporware EV Truck and SUV at this point believe in the message of living life outside that Rivian is selling. The CEO is a smart cookie at Rivian and I believe Ford has bought into the Sales Idea of selling Ice to Eskimos as they invested in Rivian with rights to use the platform for a truck. I believe we will see an EV Truck from Ford this year at one of the auto shows. -
From the sales numbers of the last few years, seems Europe and the Asian rim is moving to CUV/SUV style of auto's also.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes X-Class to be Xed Out
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
Ya know we are talking consumer trucks, NOT Class 8 Commercial Trucks that the public DOES NOT buy or Drive! So let's stop the goal post movement and stay with the program of Consumer retail trucks, again NOT COMMERCIAL TRUCK SALES! People HAVE NOT paid a premium for a Luxury pickup truck unless it is from FORD, GENERAL MOTORS or RAM! And NO we are not talking about the rare 6x6 G-Wagon Pickup truck that was one made of only.- 62 replies

GM News: GM Shelves Diesel Option for Equinox and Terrain
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Yes it should be in the Mid size and full size trucks, it can also go into a AWD CUV if properly marketed to the proper target group. AWD Terrain or Equinox pulling an RV for a couple and highlighting the torque for getting up and over passes is the message that should have been sold on this. EXAMPLE: Does your current ride run out of steam pulling your RV up and over the pass? Get into a New GMC Terrain AWD Diesel, the Torque that never stops giving and sail over the pass with pulling torque power of GM's newest turbo charged Diesel motor with clean emissions. Get out in play in your new Terrain Diesel, living the life you want to live! -
According to the story I posted, one day Mercedes lost 75 auto's. Wonder how the profits are doing for that auto sharing?

GM News: GM Shelves Diesel Option for Equinox and Terrain
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Marketing FAILURE of GM! This is the biggest problem with GM is their lack of Marketing! -
It would not have changed anything. California was already against Diesel with their own emissions standards and the ability to clean up the auto's with California Emissions package would have still made it a niche power train. Europe is only now dealing with their acid rain and retention pond pollution problems from coal and diesel and as such are playing catchup to the US in trying to protect the planet and humans from toxic waste such as the Diesel produce. I would NEVER want the US to have to deal with some of the sludge death horrors Europe has dealt with recently, from 2010 to 2014 these are some of the smaller spills that have damaged Europe. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/39618685/ns/world_news-europe/t/sludge-spill-just-eastern-europes-toxic-horrors/#.XS987OhKjuo https://timesofmalta.com/articles/view/hungary-toxic-sludge-spill-reaches-danube.330264 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jan/08/devecser-hungary-eco-town Very happy Diesel did not get the blanket approval to poison the air and water of the US the way it has in Europe. Time to let Diesel die.

Subaru News: Subaru Announces Legacy and Outback Pricing
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Subaru
? What a mouthful, clearly the Japanese marketing team did not get the memo about minimal is better versus having an acronym of LCVECMIATwO. ? -
Kill the pathetic Alfa and Maserati and pour the profits back into Chrysler as a mid tier luxury brand to go against Buick and Acura.

Subaru News: Subaru Announces Legacy and Outback Pricing
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Subaru
Nice package that will truly make the Subaru faithful happy. I expect to continue to see plenty of these on the passes this coming winter season. For me, the CVT is a DOA issue and one I am not willing to budge on for an ICE auto. Yes, I get that they probably have one of the more reliable CVTs out there, but still not a fan of how the auto's drive even with the software induced manual feel of shift.
