  1. When you look at more than one vehicle, or brand of vehicle for that matter, You'll see the differences in realism between Nada and KBB. Not to mention that every dealer I've seen assess a value to a used car trade in, they pulled out a Nada guide.

Well I am calling this Saturday about it. I am almost postive, you guys have helped "nudge" me along. Now should I make my offer or just "ask" about the car?

  2. Yea we acctually looked for another Malibu, but couldn't find one so then we found the Grand Prix and got it. She wasn't into Pontiac until she got one, and now thats all she wants. She really likes the G6 with the shark type wing and stuff. As for me Ive always been a truck guy, but when I managed to get the urge to get a car I would always be at the Pontiac dealer looking at either a GTO or newest style Grand Prix.

Well if true you'll be able to pick 'em up cheap... I like Pontiac cars too, if you have good luck with something you want another. Pontiac to me has always been a better looking and sportier Chevrolet.

  3. That's what I mean. My Jetta retailed at $6500 on KBB and $5000 on Nada. My Cobalt retails at $8400 on KBB and $9100 on Nada.

On a side note, I'm not sure how, but I checked the retail value of the Cobalt before I bought it and it was atleast a grand higher. What the hell?

Well NADA is always HIGH and I find KBB to be more realistic and in line with what a smart consumer should pay.

  4. I'm not making any predictions at this point.

Then I am not liking what I am hearing. Having said that Edmunds has been known to "screw up" more than once. I refuse to believe this till it is confirmed.

GM getting rid of Pontiac would be a HUGE mistake, the image still resonates with many people. I bet in this annoucement or whatever they are calling it will tell us Opel is gone.

  5. The worst that will happen is he says no. better to act then not, and wonder what could have been.

Yeah its just I won't have enough time to actually pick it up, for another month and a half... I just don't want to call now and get a price I will pay when I could have waited another few weeks and got an even better price, also that would be closer to the time I actually could make the trip to get the car. Hmmm, maybe I should start praying... :scratchchin: Also I haven't really discussed this with the other half much yet, but uhh my daughter will be thrilled she will have a car (Impala) and my son will because now he has a Pontiac again!

Although it has been on sale for about a month, are most people by that point ready to get rid of stuff? Also 7,000 is KBB Retail Value and I will not go any higher maybe 7,100! So a question is that a decent buy provided its in as good shape and I am pretty sure its in? I have seen 7,500 on one near me with 50K and cloth seats but it was an 02 GT Coupe. Now for an extra 3 grand I could have had a new and slow Korean $h!box. :AH-HA_wink: I guess I'll have to teach my son stick with the Camaro he or I will get someday.

  6. I must admit though... It would be nice to see a lot of car development come back to the U.S. And it would be even nicer to see GM's 6 global brands (The NA 5 + Holden) sweep across the globe. I bet it would rally the troops here as well if GM did a "Made in America" campaign.

Yeah I would like the NA 5 + Holden idea, if this helps secure GM's future go ahead. Now Pontiac could actually get some Holdens! Hmm good could come of this... :scratchchin:

  7. Act while you still can. It never hurts to talk to the guy.

You think? Maybe I will BV but I cannot go pick it up or inspect it for a while... That is my problem, I am worried he won't accept 7K or 7,100 which is Bluebook Retail Value. Hmmm maybe this weekend, if I call though and he knows I am interested, maybe he won't give as much on price... That is the worry.

  8. I don't like Opel trust me, but what about all the great platforms Ep I, Ep II and all the great things we get from GME. Like the new Malibu in such, I could care less about Opel but don't want to loose all the good technology along with it. I guess my fear is and someone please chime in is GM will loose lots of innovative things that came from Opel and have an even harder time trying to keep up with Japan Inc, (I am speaking only of volume FWD'ers). So Camino, DF and any of you that understand it better than me will it really hurt them? Hurt there volume FWD products the Malibu, LaX, G6 etc? And the up coming Chevy Cruze? Personally I think Opel gone is great, but good things for GMNA have come from Opel... So it is good or bad?
