  1. I do like 300's but I want GM. I think the Civic looks like a ricer sorry. The Golf is a nice car but not for me. Need I repeat myself I said I need to go GM. As for the comment on repair bills, I was just giving BV $h!. I have no doubt the Jetta had alot of life left in it. But I want a GM car and the nearest V-Dub dealer is still 75 miles from me.

Also fun to drive to me is my Bonneville, so a GP GT or G5 would certainly be "fun" for me.

  2. How about something that would actually be fun to drive? Or something attractive and desirable? Or pure awesomeness?

The first is totally over-done ricer. I said GM. The second is a nice German car, but way to many miles. I said GM. The third is an over-priced and most likely abused ricer. I said GM. I could have a nice 04-06 GTO for that easily. Or most of a new Camaro SS or G8 GT. So no way, although the Golf is a nice car, I don't want a forigen car or VW repair bills. Interesting idea... If I were to go non-GM a 02-04 Mustang GT Coupe with a 5spd. could be fun... With the mag style wheels and right color they are pretty cool.

  3. Not a fan sorry, if I was going with any 50's car it would be a '57 Chev Bel Air with a 283 V8 or '59 Eldorado, maybe a '58 Bonneville. It is in great shape tho.

  4. My first car in high school was a red 2001 Grand Prix GT Special Edition, a total pile. Sure it looked great but ended up costing thousands in repairs over the course of two and a half years. Catalytic converter, bearings, tie rods, struts, fuel pressure regulator, power steering pump, rack and pinion steering replaced, electrical shorts all over the place, would overheat with the AC on in the summer which the dealer could never fix.

Oh yeah and those great multi-spoke chrome rims, well they started leaking like mad last spring. The ABS was going off like crazy and the light was on on the dash so naturally the dealer thought it was a faulty sensor on the wheel bearing. It was replaced (for the second time) and things were fine for about a month before the same problem returned. They replaced the bearing again (3rd time) and things were still not fine so finally they figured out that it was because the rim leaked (due to corrosion) so I had it resealed. The problem mostly went away but the day before I traded it in the ABS light kicked back on so who knows.

This gen of Grand Prix is getting old and they are at the point where they are going to nickel and dime you to death. I recommend something newer

Well the one I am eye-balling has 50,000 on it. So I'd hope it had some life left in it. Plus its a coupe, I have had great luck with my W-Body Impala. Thanks for the honest anwswer tho.

  5. I keep seeing friggin' Thunderbirds. The retro ones.

I've also seen EXCITEMENT!!!!!!! in all its glory.

As well as the new Insight. Certainly beats the hell out of a Prius, style wise.

What the hell kind of car dealership is that? Honda, Ford and Pontiac all paired together? Side note the updated G6 is really sharp, I don't care what anyone says. They G3 actually look pretty nice in the photographs, your just a good photographer.

  6. As for the rumor if this is true, it is a sad day and GM would be nuts to do this. Lots of upper end people consider GMC trucks because of the Denali trim and have a "upper end" buyer in General. Anyone who would advocate for GM to get rid of either of these brands needs to get there heads out of there ass. GMC is pure profit and like Camino has said BPG without GMC or Pontiac would fail. Its that simple. I would never get a GMC Truck, as I like Chevrolet Trucks better but, there is still very much so a reason they are around. As for Pontiac you know my thoughts, I would be happy with some sporty Mazda-ish stuff and BMW-ish stuff. I think both Pontiac after the two idea's they are considering for keeping the brand our good, and GMC has a good future indeed.

  7. Pontiac still resonates with my generation. My best friend from high school and his wife both recently purchased new Pontiacs (2008 Grand Prix GT and a 2009 G6). My roomate from college bought a G6 a year ago.

While deep down I want to give GM the benefit of the doubt that they are finally "getting it," I know that is just setting myself up for disappointment. GM has let me down enough that I practically expect failure from them.

    GM, prove me wrong.

Very true, I hope they do prove you wrong.

  8. Go ahead pick you favorite one or two cars. Try not to select more than three! Keep in mind my needs, has to have a nice size trunk, good performance (think like my SLE, good), can be driven for fun on the weekends and also driven to school/work by my son or I during the week, should be a good car with few expensive repairs, oh and it must be GM. If it isn't on the list it isn't being considered!

    2008-2009 Cobalt XFE Coupe...

I really like the fuel economy and the fact that it has a nice trunk and is a 5spd is a bonus. If I got one I would wish I had a G5 anyways.

    2008-2009 G5 XFE...

Same as the Cobalt but way better looking.

    2001-2002 Grand Prix GT Coupe...

Always loved the look of these. Finding them in good shape with low miles is hard, but in my budget but it is a 7 maybe 8 year old car. Also the Special Edition Models with the spoiler and wheels were sweet!

    Final Thoughts

My budget is basically 8,000 if I am going used I might be able to slide it to 9,000 if I go new. Having said that I think a used is prolly the way to go. I have found a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Coupe Special Edition in Galaxy Silver all stock with 51K on it but it is 500 miles away and he is asking $8,400 about 1,000 actually more like 1,500 to much for the car. But my son has fallen in love, with those coupe GP's. Frankly so have I.

Anyone know how rare the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT/GTP Coupe/Sedan Special Editions are? Or the 2002 40th anni models? How about the 2003 Limited Edition models? Those by far with the multi-spoke chrome wheels and two tone interiors are the best looking and sweet badging and tips out back are a bonus. If I could do one of these I would, but they are hard to find!

Any comment or ideas? Either way please vote!

Down to those three options... So vote!
