  1. Yeah... she was the owner after all. He was THE superstar that she was paying for the seats to be filled. So that is kinda symbiotic relationship. He is of the human species and she is from another. To be fair though, she was born in Cincinnati and Im guessing she was a lifelong fan so for her becoming the owner and inviting back one the the pieces of the Big Red Machine was a dream come true for her. It is a highlight. Everybody denies and lies when gets caught. But funny that even Clinton (Bill) was pardoned from the public. Both victims (wife and seductress) were and continue to be villified for various reasons. However, we all still fall for Slick Willy's charming ways. I guess that is the thing, Pete Rose never charmed the moralists of the MLB.
  2. I get the permanent thing. I really do. But... The HOF is full of cheaters, liars, thiefs and scoundrels. And I understand that is not the issue. Its just that back in 1919, there was a little scandal with the World Series and the White Sox. But...there was also the steroid thing and the Houston Astros. But...the World Series was still given to the owners whose players were cheating. And especially rewarding the Houston Astros with the World Series when the owners themselves were cheating... And speaking about the owners, when the league locked out the players because the players decided to strike, because the players were paid peanuts up until 1994 but the owners made their millions, criminally I might, colluding with each other NOT to pay their players and WORSE than whatever Pete Rose might have done, the strike took away the fans almost for good AND the MLB owners ALLOWED the steroid use so the fans could come back but then decided to punish the steroid users when the owners and MLB damn well knew that steroid use was out of control but ONLY after the fans came back... Oh...also...steroid use was not exactly illegal either as MLB wasnt so clear about performance enhancement drugs and testing during this time... So...we allow sports betting, but then we had another sports betting on baseball scandal involving Shohei Ohtani's "translator", but somehow Pete Rose is still the one to be punished to the fullest limit of the incredibly righteous that is the MLB. We also keep out the steroid users ignoring its those guys that brought back MLB from the dead. The MLB is worse than Alan Eagleson's NHL of the 1970s. And that is saying a lot. We LOVE to make fun of the NHL and how its still a garage league but MLB is lower than that. In my honest opinion.
  3. I could relate. About different things but undoubtebly human related and most importantly family oriented. Im with you with feels. I always adored Pete Rose. Didnt realize the Ohio connection until you mentioned it. Im pissed the commish didnt ease up on his ban. Especially now that gambling aint soooooo much a taboo anymore but just another money making scheme for the MLB...
  4. @A Horse With No Name I apologize twice to you. 1. I am sorry to see the devastation of Helene that has affected you personally. And of course to all the peoples. The devastation is just horrible. 2. My tone deaf post of posting Pete Rose's passing and kind of glazing over your posts. I havent been present here and my attention span just isnt there. I was grazing over the posts just to post the passing of Pete Rose. The only thing that caught my eye was Wiliam Shatner and McGilll. So I just acknowledged that. (and the stupid but funny they're eating the dogs and the cat thing) I am truly saddened for you and of the people affected by Helene's devastation.
  5. My daughter got accepted at Mcgill this semester. Health sciences. Either dentistry or ophthalmology. She hasnt decided yet. She has got another year to figure that out.
  6. ahhh... Been gone from the interwebs and forum talking for sometime that Im rusty (in reading comprension). And it shouldnt happen for quite awhile either. What @Drew Dowdell is suggesting is a great idea to save money for a down payment and monthly payments: But since your current cars are in pretty good order and safe for the family to use without endangering them then Id hold off any car purchases for the near future (and in hoping for a as long as far future possible) unless the cars you have now need absolute replacement. You said it...DEPRECIATING assets. And in a high inflationary world we both are living in, there is NO need to indulge in wants. Just for in needs. Save your money for a rainy day. Anectdote: Just about a month ago give or take a week, Montreal experienced high rain fall. Torrential rains. All in 1 day. But it caused many many floods. Peoples houses were flooded and insurances were reluctant to pay out. They paid out $20 000 CDN to most claims. Folks that had more coverage did not get paid because insurances didnt want to pay them. They wanted to cap EVERYBODY at $20 000. Problem is, with high prices for everything such as building materials, replacement hardwares such as cabinets and TVs and tables and chairs and sofas and contractor labourers etc are sky high (inflation), the damages done to houses in 85% of cases EXCEEDED $80 000 CDN... Many horror stories on the news and the people I work with. Shyte out of luck... So...Im pretty sure that a not necessar expensive EV pick-up truck or Lincoln Navigator could wait. When its time to buy a vehicle because it would be necessary to change out any of the cars you use now, then you assess what it is you want and prefer vis-a-vis with what you are comfortable in parting with your money. Anecdote #2: Last year at this time, we bought my wife a 2024 brand new base Civic. Somebody rammed the rear passenger door of the Acura. So I was driving the Fusion. Until the elctric steering went out in it in January and I wasnt going to spend $5000 CDN reparing it. So we bought an Accord. The Accord was also new, but a 2023 model. The 2025s are out now. Go figure that I buy a car 4 months after my wife in Sept 2023 and she gets a 2024 model and in January of 2024 I get a 2023 model. Just to say that you,we, any of us, shouldnt be spending money on a whim. I just got rid of the 2009 Mazda 3 today actually. Sold it to the scrap yard for 300 bucks. Too rusted out for my daughter to continue driving it.
  7. I was reading and analysing your question and came up with an answer: As you know, or maybe have forgotten, I prefer to buy new. I could guess and assume your budget and needs with our long history together, (congrats on your first born and I have come to learn that a second one is on the way!!! HOORAY!!!) And I have come to also learn that a fullsized SUV and that big of a price tag on a new OR used one is not on the menu for you, but you wouldnt want to pass up on a good deal...understandable, even thought this deal is kinda gone now... I actually did come to an opnion for you, and its one that you came up for yourself actually... Id say...save and buy a Ligntning. 1. Its what you want... 2. It is going to be big enough for your family needs going forward whether you say it might be too big for your family. You will find uses for it. 3. its what you want 4. its an EV and we have been down this road before, EVs are the future because it is what the governments of the world want. 5. the Lightning has all kinds of neat features for the house that only EVs could give you. Like acting as a generator to power your home, etc...
  8. you called?
  9. It dont matter if you included Cadillac or Audi. Why? I wasnt talking solely about you. I originally targeted BMW and Mercedes. So I kept it there. I wasnt even targeting SMK either. It was general oriented. The 2 most recognized sport sedans ARE those 2 Germans. So... Yet you mentioned Audi... According to YOUR words. Listen, I dont care really what YOU prefer. I said, in general speak that it would be foolish to dismiss it. Again, not targeting anybody. General speak... And WHY do I feel this way? In a world of bland CUVs and dying sedans.. And the TLX, actually IS a legit sports sedan. But I see, you arent interested in having a normal convo. Its gotta be a confrontational one. To prove some sort of point. You and the other guy the last couple of weeks have been ruthless regarding trying to prove david wrong. And you now with this. Who the hell has time for this shyte day in and day out? I know I dont. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year CCAP. I am ecstatic for you and your lovely wife that you will becoming parents right after the new year, if I remembering what you told us correctly. Parenthood is a great thing. Ill be back after the holidays. Its just that posting here when Surreal is on a verbal rampage WHENEVER he posts and you are confrontational on such stupid things such as FWB based cars (are we back in the 1990s?) is just not really appealing to me at this point in time.
  10. GM announced that it would spend nearly 1 billion dollars for a new 6th generation small block V8. I didnt think that GM's V8s need turbos for base applications. If that is what you meant and concerning the Tahoe and Suburban. As for the hybrid thing, GM decided not to go that route when transforming their business to all EVs. In hindsight, that was a bad move. But who could have predicted that? But they should have predicted that as GM has also been known to sleep with Big Oil... So...all that anti-EV talk rhetoric from all KINDS of shytty sources in the USofA should have given them a clue as to what was going to happen 3-5 years down the line when they decided to nix hybrids... Ram...they do have a new inline 6. Stellantis does have state of the art 4 cylinders and turbos. We just dont get those here. As for Toyota, they had ancient engines and only this year with the new Tacoma things have changed for the modern. At least this is how I view things...
  11. It drives pretty good too though. So not only does the TLX look good, it drives sporty. There is no reason NOT to look at it and just BLINDLY look at a BMW or Mercedes. Without the trolling (that I did)... The TLX is a legit candidate in this realm of vehicles. One WOULD be foolish NOT to consider it and just dismiss it. In a world of bland CUVs and dying sedans never to come back, Acura has given us a sedan worth driving. And I do mean driving in an enthusiast kind of way. If we just ignore the TLX, yet another sedan...a WORTHY enthusiast sedan at that, will go away never be replaced.
  12. The TLX is a fine automobile is what Im trying to convey. That and to piss in @surreal1272's cornflakes...
  13. I wonder if @surreal1272 is going to fly by here and give you a verbal carpet bombing for suggesting such a thing. He usually does. Lately though, he has a fetish for giving @David and myself shyte for suggesting that Toyota followers ignore Toyota problems... He has even went as far as dropping sly comments on threads concerning GM's car problems from 40 phoquing years ago. Maybe he just ignores you now as he is still frothing at the mouth for me... THAT and you and him may have a thing in common right now. As in the common bond of pointing fingers at GM. LOL I know Im playing with fire for daring a name drop at him right now....he did warn me about that. Suggested that I had a bad summer because I was a grade A a&&hole... Oh well... Anyway...Im just going to tell you that not everybody wants a BMW or Mercedes. I know I dont. Besides the fact that right now, I cant afford a BMW or Mercedes, when I did, I sure as hell wouldnt want one. And...the way some Americans view electric cars and especially Elon Musk, why would ANYBODY that hates EVs or Elon would buy a Model 3? The TLX is actually a nice looking car. It has a long hood short deck design. One could NOT easily see a FWD design language on it. Im not even going to post the Mercedes. Its just that ugly. But here is a Cadillac Id say the Acura is sleeker. Despite the transverse engine thing and the whole FWD debacle. Id say, if the calender said 2003 instead of 2023 and BMW and Mercedes offered these things to us then and Acura and Cadillac had these for us, I wouldnt be sure if BMW and Mercedes would be sellin' vehicles the American market in 2023...
  14. Acura has found its way with fun driving cars again with their latest generation of TLX and Integra. And if they could replicate that with a biggish sedan named Legend, Acura could revive itself. I see Oldsmobile in Acura in plenty of ways. And with this latest push from Acura to stay relevant is ironically where Oldsmobile was in 1996 when Acura was eating Olds' lunch.
  15. As I would also, like to see a Legend sedan and coupe. I dont know if big coupes could be succesfull in today's world, as I think that market niche is truly a dead one with a couple of exemptions, a sedan done proper still has followers.
  16. The Integra name has been re-...um...integrated in Acura's line-up so hopefully Acura could start ditching alphanumerics.
  17. I dont mind the ads, @Drew Dowdell But I keep on seeing middle fingers. Hey @surreal1272

  19. Rant #3 Its INCREDIBLE how much we have let corporations dictate how we live our lives. Its not only with the shytty Lysol style advertising bullshyte we have to endure in every facet of our lives just looking at anything in the urban horizon. Full billboards and on any TV or computer screen... But... We need to be reminded what BUYING season it is when we enter ANY retail store. Black Friday this and Black Friday that and XMAS is here and this is not EVEN when Halloween has even arrived. Its WORSE now and American Thanksgiving is STILL but a couple of days away. XMAS music everywhere you go, but there is NO snow on the ground. Its above freezing still in Montreal and we are in the 3rd week of November but even us Canadians now have to endure this shytty Black Friday sales... A PHOQUING holiday that is not even a holiday...its just a spending money day. And the REASON why there is no snow on the ground in Montreal and its STILL above freezing in phoquing November ALMOST December is BECAUSE now, the WHOLE planet consumes useless shyte and all the factories of the world and shipping transports are full on force pollutin' because of man's GREATEST invention: MONEY and GREED. I miss that point in time when we truly had freedom in our lives and we were NOT directed by the corporate world when it WAS the time to celebrate. With FAMILY and FRIENDS. Love and friendship. NOT with quarterly financial reports so XMAS season starts 4 months before the 25th of December and Summer season starts BEFORE the bloody groundhound even SEES his own phoquing shadow.
