  1. Normally, I would say "yes" to that. However, the Omega platform is probably the most advanced unibody on the planet-hence the 3700-pound weight for a 7-series sized car. Therefore, why NOT use it for limo duty with a small (and presumably well-muffled) four? Besides, I don't think that anybody is expecting livery work to account for the bulk of sales.
  2. I think they'd immediately jump to 3rd place knocking the Titan Armada and Sequoia down. Definitely those. I could see them putting a scare in Ford as well.
  3. As long as the components can handle the amperage, I could see a certified electrician making a bit of coin doing this.
  4. If that's true then perhaps they should just take the plunge and do it ASAP. After all, it's not like the segment doesn't have its fair share of fossilized platforms. Really low-hanging fruit for conquest sales, right?
  5. If it's ok with you, I'd like to aspire to that demographic. I'm VERY interested to read the specs on this latest moonshot.
  6. Crazy Taxi, fer shore
  7. Bob Lutz is da shizzle. The End
  8. If cost were no object I'd say that a 2.0 Voltec would be the perfect solution for inner-city livery work. The commutes are relatively short, there's a lot of stop and go, and congested airspace. I read somewhere that typical Volt 2.0 owners will only need to use the engine once per half-dozen trips or so, so you keep tailpipe emissions low that way-a critical thing for Chinese cities in particular.
  9. I'll have to disagree with you on that one, although it might take time. After all, Ram was in pretty dire straits with pickup sales figures not so long ago. If they base it off their next truck and that truck is similarly innovative, capable, and good-looking then it will work. Actually, they may already have a ready-made customer base of current Ram truck owners. I could see them carving out a reasonable chunk of the marketplace (15-20%) with Gen 1.
  10. At 3700 pounds a turbo 4 will do a perfectly good job moving this car around. For reference, GM claims 0-60 in 5.5 for a 3400-pound Camaro with the current version of the 2.0T. They may have to do a bit of extra NVH trickery but I'm sure that's also quite doable.
  11. So you get 0.2 second on a hoonmobile for twenty grand more. Also... The CTS has no real problems.
  12. I foresee it starting out just below 60 and topping out just below 100. Any V versions would obviously break six figures. But I don't foresee that for a few years. I also recall saying elsewhere that it would sell in the high four-low five figures per year. If Omega is an evolution of Alpha then it ought to be fine at those numbers.
  13. Uh... You do realize the Hellcat Charger hits 60 in the low threes and tops out over 200? I commented in the MT version of this story that this isn't necessarily the direction I'd continue to push Caddy in. But hey, if it means more trickle-down for the Camaro then it's all good, right?
  14. Looks a fair bit like the Vision GT concept they showed recently. Anyhow, here's the link: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/news/a27215/heres-your-first-unofficial-look-at-the-new-bugatti-chiron/
  15. Dining out with the better half. Order steak and house veggies. House veggies are beets. I think about explosive diarrhea. Good steak tho
  16. I was going to say "Camry" but yeah, Accord works too.
  17. "My only point here, that you can't seem to argue against, is that MT stated Mustang was the better all around car. Now, if you want to debate that, I am all about that." It cannot be the better overall car. IT LOST THE COMPARO. BADLY. Easiest debate ever :D
  18. I've had similar conversations along those lines with various folks in charge. They are not unaware.
  19. We don't need that MT drama here. I guess the cat's out of the bag: the Camaro smoked the Mustang in that comparo. Badly. And no, fixing the Mustang's problems won't be easy. It's fat and underpowered.
  20. This is about performance. On-topic, please
  21. That Grand Touring tho
  22. But hey, at least the Mustang only has to overcome a horsepower and gear deficit next year, right? And here I was thinking that pony cars were all about power
  23. Look, if GM wanted to do a Camaro for the relaxed-fit pants crowd, then they would. ...or perhaps we have forgotten that MT's Camaro tester doesn't appear to have Magnaride? Which means that a customer is only one tick of the box away from... Ruh-roh
  24. Pretty sure they're an option at the very least. I'd be disappointed if the Camaro didn't offer a feature I have on my freaking half-ton
  25. After reading all that I've read about the Camaro to this point, what it looks like to me is that GM was confident enough in all other aspects of the car to burn a few points for practicality by letting Welburn's styling crew go nuts. If you dig through the blizzard of stats you will see that the Camaro is actually comparable in passenger room to the Mustang (complete with more front seat headroom!). Only the small greenhouse causes complaints, and even then parking sensors and backup cameras can be ordered to take care of any potential visibility issues.
