  1. Uhhh, you may wanna rethink your silly notion. How long do ya 'spose any dealer will stay in business if they hafta bribe every Turdra buyer with $8,000.00? Hmmm? Duh, gee, ya think Toyopet may, just MAY, be backing them up? HMMMMM? Can you say "dumping"?
  2. I've been done with NASCAR for about the last year or so, and this crap will keep me from ever coming back. I believe that in the near future Chysler will pull out and I wouldn't be half surprised to see Ford out within the next 10 yrs or so. Then maybe, just maybe, a Toyrota MAY actually qualify for a race....
  3. Ahhh, I forgot about THAT little issue... and yes, Turdra owners SHOULD be concerned. Hmm, 'spose there's any correlation between the Turdra's flexi-frame and its less-than-stelar crash rating? Stay tuned...
  4. Here's something I don't see anyone here addressing... it's NOT the body flexing causing this problem. If the FJ is anything like any other BOF vehicle it has 6 body mounting points. 1- core support, 2-cowl, 3- usually right before the frame kickup at the rear suspension, 5- just behind the kickup, and 6- at the rear of the frame. This issue is clearly a FRAME flexing issue. The front part of the body carries little if any weight so I can't see any excuse for the body to crack at that point. It seems to me that the frame between the #1 and #2 (and maybe #3) mounts is way too flexible. Maybe the weight of a brush guard is causing the front of the frame to sag? That would be inexcusable. Stay tuned. Me thinks there is way more to this.
  5. This boy's never given a rip about the Olympics. Can't say as any of my friends do either. I consider the Olympics to be irrelevent. And I doubt if I'm alone.
  6. Duh, brain fart on my part. Had never occured to me that Chrysler handled their own parts distribution from dock to dealer. Stupid. At least here in this area Ford uses Holingsworth Logistics and I can't say I have any problems with my parts deliveries. If only the clowns at my facing PDC were as good...

  9. I do gey what you are saying, but you're giving far too much credit to the average schmuck out on the roads. There is a great precentage of the population that would freak out and panic if something like this were to occur. Most people on the roads, like it or not, are stupid. Put them in a car (or family of cars) that may well actually have a problem, and the odds of something bad happening to them (or worse, me) climb far more than I'm comfortable with. IF there is a problem with these Lexuses, then fix them. If not, fine.
  10. I do. I see no reason why a drive-by-wire throttle body couldn't do something such as this. After all, it's nothing more than a servo-style electric motor controling it. A programming glitch could easily cause an issue like this, or maybe water intrusion into a critical harness, a faulty signal from the throttle position sensor (accelerator pedal asy.), etc. Far more likely than it happening with a cable-driven thottle body.

  12. Hmmmm, must be going around, yesterday we had a 94 F150 piloted by a 72 yr old man drive thru a Wendy's... literaly. Unintended acceleration? You be the judge...
  13. That is a concern of mine with vehicles equipped with drive-by-wire, as I would assume these affected Lexuses are. Not totally convinced it's a great idea since there seems to be no redundancy built in.
  14. Turd-yoders aren't too fond of NE Ohio winters either... on a quiet night one can hear them rusting away.

  17. IIRC, this isn't Nissan's first fire related recall, seems to me back in the 80's they had one for their minivans, those boxy crude heaps would burn up with no warning. As I recall, Nissan ended up buying them all back (roughly 33,000 of them)and scrapping them, although I highly doubt the Altima problem needs measures THAT drastic.
  18. I assume that Altimas are probably mass-air fuel injection, makes me wonder if mass air flow sensor has a part in this...
  19. Interesting. Nissan reports what, 4 fires, yet we have pics of 2 of them? What do you suppose the odds are of that? I'm tellin' y'all, this is gonna get interesting real soon... Ain't NO WAY that's caused by a cig getting sucked into the air box tract.

  22. So let me get this straight... these four (yea, right. only four) Altimas ingested, say, a smoldering cigarette into the air cleaner intake and FOOM!!! up they went. I would say the odds of that being the cause for these fires is astronomical.
  23. The F150 does NOT have IRS, it has a straight axle like the rest. It does however have shocks that are mounted about as far outboard as possible.
  24. Kinda what I was thinking... I patched up a 4 year old Corolla that had collapsed strut towers (due to rust) back in 1980, back in vocational school auto body class. Guess they don't wan't to aknowledge any Corollas built before 1987??? Is Toyoturd ashamed of their earlier efforts? Makes one wonder...
  25. Gotta defend Reg here, he isn't spreading any rumors. The small V8 (4.7L ?), probably their bread-and-butter engine, and probably the most common engine for the Turdra, has a timing BELT. Brilliant! not...
