McCain's trend
Wow, reading this thread, I'm amazed I agree with you. On the basis of "top of the ticket" candidates, I definitely was for McCain. I think Obama is viewed as a "savior" and some of the people buying into this are fairly intelligent and accomplished, which I think is frightening. The granolafied entrepreneurial telecommuting liberal in the West is the most likely to sport Obama stickers....it kind of goes together, like lesbians in Maine and fleece jackets. There is no "savior" in a presidential candidate...they all have dirt under the rug. Period. OK, so they needed a woman to stabilize McCain's ticket and fetch the Hillary vote, if that was the intent. Couldn't they have found one that was 54 (instead of 44), with a law degree (only because it's typical), 10 years of significant political experience, and kids at least 10 years old? I'm sure they existed.

McCain's trend
This is one of the most pathetic elections ever. Democrats and Republicans are not aligning with their party of choice as they don't like their own candidates...and they don't like the ones on the other side, either. McCain - the warmonger (sp) concern is legit Obama - selling people the "ivory tower" message they want to hear I like neither of them, and things, in general, are not good these days... BTW, I was up in the NW over the weekend and you wouldn't believe all the Subarus with Obama stickers....

Do you take lipitor?
Wow. Talk about a current concern with me. My reading isn't the lowest, either. I am trying my darnest to lower it naturally. I go for labs in mid-October. I DO NOT want to take pills an on ongoing basis. So what I've done is: - lost 8 lbs. in the last 2 months, another 7 to go - oatmeal, fruit and juice every AM for breakfast - no more burgers during lunch...only grilled chicken sandwiches - salad and/or "tuna (in water) + olives + seasonings" for dinner - no desserts of any kind - a pasta buffet once a week as my "cheat allowance." Have you considered the natural route prior to medication? I'm sure cholesterol can be turned around in 4 to 6 months in most people.

McCain's trend
Good call! Scottsdale is definitely one of the destinations So Cal's "Maureen McCormicks" have gravitated to, along with other nicer suburbs of up-and-coming Western cities. Yes, indeed, Cindy is very Stepford-wife looking. The desensitization to blondes comes from all the superficial ones I knew in So Cal who thought the world owed them a living, so much so that they "crash and burn" during their undergraduate years in any half-way difficult major. All the brunettes (and redheads) I knew growing up were smarter, not to mention better looking. That's the trend I observed. I think that this Palin lady is a likable candidate....for a mayoralty or a governorship. However, I question how, with a handful of kids to raise and not having cut her teeth politically in terms of both time and in a sizable jurisdiction, she could "preside" over the 300MM people in the US. I think McCain decreased his winning chances with Palin. I think Obama increased his winning chances with Biden. If McCain had picked a more "seasoned" woman, he might have been ok. I don't know...I could be wrong...my gut hunch and my .02

New Buick to be called LaCrosse, has been butchered.
Yes. I get into my burgundy interior for my commute home and am thankful. Yeah, there are bad shades of burgundy and blue, but the darker, more stoic shades are great...and they play off any wood trim (real or fake) very well.

OH OH!
Congratulations. A new car is always a big deal... Well, you've sure got that Ford loyalty and I've got tunnel vision (in your last link, the first thing I spotted was 2 GPs in the background....maybe that's "selective perception.") Enjoy and I hope your kid enjoys the space.

Going For A New Look, Anyone Else Have A Beard?
Never have grown facial hair, though with the shadow problem, it would come in quite rapidly. I don't think it fits well with my clean-scrubbed coat and tie thing...my opinion.

Does an arriving weather front give you a headache?
Sinus pressure and nasal congestion...which then leads to a headache. I keep a stash of Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) at my desk which proceeds to stomp it out in about 20 minutes.

I think an Aztek would be safe even in East Saint Louis, making your gate superfluous...

LaCrosse, Grand Prix (since you once wrote about one) or Impala. Those are all $ 2,000 + cars on the redemption allowance.

Are you a "coffehouse" person?
I'm doing ok, ZL, considering I'm one who loves to complain.... Some photos of these addictive Portuguese custard treats about 1.5x the size of a silver dollar.... um pastel de nata (singular) auguns pasteis de nata (plural)

Are you a "coffehouse" person?
LOL. That's classic. I think I've worn jeans/shorts, a $6 tourist t-shirt and sandals every time I've gone. I'll be on the lookout for some overdressed people "on the make."

Are you a "coffehouse" person?
FYI - the person who amways (not deserving of a capital letter) you is called an "amrrhoid."

China's Boom About To Go Bust
I can't exactly remember all the interactions from my principles and intermediate macroeconomics classes when it comes to balance of trade and balance of payments. This should prop us up a little bit or throw us a "left hook." I forgot. I know that last week, with every uptick of the Dow and drop in oil, the dollar strengthened against the Euro, the CDN and the British pound. Sometimes, it gets pretty complex and can make one's head spin.
