I'm driving home after lunch and realize that my odometer is about to roll over to an even number (you know, ending at ,000)...but it wasn't quite there. So, I didn't pull into the driveway and instead drove around the neighborhood a little more to make it get to that "magic number." I find that I've done this more than once, among other weird quirks. Do you do this kind of crap with your car? Or, do you have other weird quirks you care to share?

The first part: funny! As for languages to learn, that was exactly the reason I took French for 2 and a half years in high school. Then, in college, I took Spanish for a change and to facilitate vacation travel as an adult to places I wanted to go: namely Spain and Argentina. I sure as hell didn't learn it to help out somebody's lazy ass. And that was the same reason I taught myself Portuguese - so I can vacation over there, or possibly in Brazil, and enjoy it more.

Grew up in L.A. (Latin America, LOL) and went to Mexico for the FIRST TIME last year because my friend from San Diego twisted my arm. It is a mere 134 miles from where I grew up. It was Tijuana that we went to and it was nothing short of gross. Yet, I've been to Spain 4 x and to Argentina 2 x and they are 11 hours away by plane. Is it any wonder? Yada yada...I know the beaches at Cancun/Cozumel and down at Cabo/Puerto Vallarta are very nice but I don't want to go to a place where you should fear driving (just in case you were to get in a wreck) to avoid landing in some far away jail and have to bribe your way out...at least that's what I've been told...it's corrupt. If someone wants to come here, they need to pull their 'effin weight and stop complaining. And I resent bilingual everything because that is not an option available to all immigrants. Those coming from countries with smaller representations do not have that luxury. My parents had to learn to speak English...quickly.

Your leak - how about all around the rear window moldings? "Cutlass Supreme 1" had a landau roof which, to install at the dealer, they had to undo the moldings and put them back. Evidently, in the process, they might not have been sealed correctly. As the car got older, every time it rained, the trunk would fill up and I would have to go out there with a small bucket and a sponge. Not fun.As for Sicilians, there are even more varieties. Just about everyone in our family has the darkest shade of brown hair, or black hair, a medium complexion that tans and either blue or green eyes. The stereotypical Sicilian (Type I) is not found on either my Mom or Dad's side, though our family members have married "Type I's." Their kids have all turned out looking dark (dominant traits, I guess)....like aaaantoine!

With so much of the country that is subjected to the "elements" in the winter (snow, sleet, ice) etc., I was actually surprised that there would be such a wholesale push over to many RWD platforms ...and that people living in those areas would actually WANT IT.As for myself, the few times that I've been subjected to driving in snow or ice (mostly in the Sierras), the Regal's FWD has gotten me through whereas I am not so sure my beloved RWD Cutlass Brougham coupe could have coped as well. I am not so FWD/RWD divided. The thing I actually like about RWD is how "organized" the engine compartment looks! LOL.

I was looking forward to Easter weekend to go up to my Mom's in Portland to be "pampered" a little bit. At any rate, I "turn in" in the downstair's bedroom (the guest room) where my Dad spent his last years so he didn't have to do the stairs and couldn't fall asleep! The damn mattress was ridiculously FIRM. My own mattress is somewhat firm, but it softens up nicely to adjust to body contours and the shifting of your weight. (Nothing special, just a $ 450 set). That right amount of sponginess, together with flannel sheets, and I'm asleep in 5 to 10 minutes as if I was under anesthesia. So, the mattress in my Mom's guest room screwed up my Easter weekend. What type of mattress firmness do you prefer?
