  1. I fail to get it, is there a new fuel known to man as FACING FUEL? :AH-HA_wink:
  2. I am with the manual transmission folks. No fun stick = no sale. Even if it is a V6, it is not difficult to put a V-6 in it, is it Honda/ Mazda? GM - I have given up on them when it comes to affordable mid-sizer with a good stick. GM mid-sizer = No sale.
  3. It has a 1 mpg improvement only on higways compared to the 2007 standards. Many people report 35mpg highway with the old model. I was talking about current sales, they were certainly not influenced by the "diesel", when they bought the vehicle. I am not denying that it is a good car. But it is now more of a Lexus than a playful puppy it used to be.
  4. May be it is in line with Corsa. However that little thing stands out. This Astra is a little bit more mediocre. The grill looks like those old Chevy Optras.
  5. I guess sales of TSX shows people's psychology. They do not need a sporty car, they need a car that will put you to sleep. With a makeover TSX lost its quirky, playful character, but gained sales.
  6. I agree with you. But the main question is when will we see it? 2015?
  7. That car looks like influenced by old Chevy styling and Seat. A little bit ho-hum.
  8. Jim Dollinger is a celebrity. Jimmy Boy made it on WSJ
  9. Unless we get the production numbers along with the sitting time, the data needs to be taken with grain of salt.
  10. In past three years (since Pontiac Solstice brought GM revolution) GM products and stragegy indicates almost there but really not. Solstice for example: Great looking inside and out. Thoughtless utilization of space, cargo area, roof. GMT 900s: Rigid as a rock body, good interior. Still the 4-speeds (finally after three MY they are finding 6-speeds), where is the manual transmission? why not top of the line engine in regular cab configuration? Malibu: Good overall design, rigid chasis. No manual transmission, where is the fuel efficient V-6, what no navigation? lacks some of the space. Similarly their product strategy. Excellent emphasis on design Lambdas, Malibu, etc, no one can say that GM builds crappy cars and ironically they decide to keep the W-Body. So what the thing has been paid off and is a cash cow. It is about perceptions and nothing else. Common people do not even know what a W-body is, and editors bash it because of its antquaited engineering it becomes a Holy Grail despite of being re-engineered a couple of times. Here is a story of another W-body, only it was called W-124. Probably the car which brought back a company from its brink and became its bestseller. If the engineers wanted to milk money there would have been no W-210 which even exceeded the sales of W-124. Igneous rocks are probably one of the strongest rocks existing on earth. Yet the relatively new Himalaya mountains is made of sedimentary rocks. The point is even sometime in evolution good things must give their way to others. Nature knows that why cannot GM?
  11. Is this pilot production run? IIRC the production of the Camaro was not going to begin till the 4th quarter of 2008.
  12. Spot On! I would add following. 1. Navigation System. 2. Put 6-speed in all 4 banger models. GM do not put cover on consumer's eyes by saying 24-32 for all Malibus, it is only for 4-cyl - 6-sp combo. Yeah at least put one in the four cylinder.
  13. Hey Guys, I am new to this forum and would like to first of all thank its creators for bringing the fans of GM together for brainstorming. Last week of December, while I was out to visit my family in WV, I went out on a road trip to Northern part of the state. While enjoying the back roads, I noticed three GM vehicles parked by the other side of the road (namely Monte Carlo, Silverado and a GTO). The MC, got me its atention, because it looked too short for me. The wheels were the one found on SS, but the break discs were much bigger. Further more the wheel arches seemed too absurd with the 18" inside. Frankly it looked like a chopped car with the body cut to adjust in a new platform. To take a closer look I went down the road and turned back. The driver of MC tried to back the car up, and while doing that he revved the car hard. The REAR TIRES spun off for a while on the gravel and couple of other guys standing besides the car (I am assuming they were in one group) looked closely at the Rear wheels! A few months back while browsing through the Car Spy Shots forums I noticed a discussion about people posting pictures of Holdens spotted testing in California. If we look at the wheel bases of the MC, GTO and the Camaro, they are awefully close to eachother, further more MC and Camaro wheelbases are almost identical (110.5"). So was that MC, a cloaked mule of Camaro being tested? Which brings me a question,is GM already "testing" the Camaro rather Zeta in the United States? And not to jump the gun, is the Camaro going to be released earlier than '09? If you look at the future Chevy vehicles, after the GMT truck releases, spanning for the next three quarters, there is nothing new for '08. May be trailblazer and update for Equinox/Colorado. Further what caught my attention more was Lutz's one sentence, during Detroit show, "ANY V-8 General Motors produces today is potentially slated for this car." With nothing new to develop for the Camaro with regard to the drive train, the only expensive part in its development remains extensive testing of the platform and the body, trying to fit all the parts together to make the sqeak and problem-free production a reality. Apart from the interior the Camaro looks pretty much production ready, may be the 21" and 22" wheels won't make through. I would like the other members to please confirm with what I saw and if it is to be true, I think we will see our Favorite American Muscle Car earlier than GM wants us to expect.
