i think most folks see ethanol as helping us to become more self sufficient long term than strictly hybrids+still using oil. I have some beefs with ethanol, however, it helps us diversify our energy sources and we need that right now. My wife's hometown is building an ethanol plant now. You can see how such a thing rallys support big time for E85, especially in the corn belt. Looks like Toyota passed off that bunch of people and now they are trying to suck up to them. I love it. toyota, YOU suck.

i wanted the CVT in my 500, but got the 6 speed. The CVT was smooth and efficient though. I had heard that you could get the tranny reflashed to get the CVT to kick down faster with less throttle. Programming will be very important in all CVTs.

the exterior is decent. the interior still looks suspect, but to some degree is improved. i like the CVT and 6 speed manual choices, but some folks might still want the tradtional automatic. the VQ engine is always top notch. i would bet i could really like this car, but i wish Nissan would have done a nicer interior yet.

the NISSAN GT-R is legendary. To change the brand of that car to some pansy yuppie brand like INFINITI would be watering down the merit of the car. just like CHEVROLET CORVETTE

the flare/bulge of the rear fender and the angle / shape of the rear greenhouse has some of the same flow and character of the way the Bonne's rear glass and fender bulge go. The ass end is quite different but the 'pulled and bulged' look and proportion of the rear of the car has some of the same look. I have a hard time believing based upon pictures that this is an all new platform and safety structure. I will need to see wheelbase specs before I say for sure, but i bet $$$$ the floorpan is the same as is the suspension and engine bay structure. The fenders of course all look new but too similar to the existing Maxima and Altima (just puffed up). The door side glass looks damn close to almost the same, which suggests to me the crash safety cage around the passenger compartment has the same structure but maybe they were able to tweak the side glass just enough, ala BLS/9-3 to get just a vaguely different look.

there ought to be chrome or aluminum around the 3 gauges.....

my 80+ year old father in law and 65 year old dad (both LIFETIME GM diehards) were both commenting oddly enough this past weekend about 'how nice those new toyotas are'. My dad was oogling a four year old LAVALON in his parking garage, and he's got some bitter revenge against GM because it will cost him a lot to replace the four struts in his 92 yes 1992 Seville (we expect em to last forever you know). The seville with only 75,000 miles on it. When the old midwesterners start getting wood for toyota, and they start to eat trannies, i guess i would have to say maybe the times they are a changing muh friend.
