  1. Have you sat in the current one? Hell no.
  2. Rust isn't an issue for most cars 5 years old. Living in NE, I know this for a fact. Closer to 10 years is when you have to start worrying about rust.
  3. Maybe you didn't notice reg, but the Grand Cherokee doesn't exactly compete in the cheap small crossover segment....so it's not going to sell in those kind of numbers. It has always been priced as a premium vehicle, only now it appears to have the quality, refinement, and technology befitting of the price.
  4. Funny thing is the front end looks relatively decent when compared to how hideous the side profile with it's massive overhang looks.
  5. Wouldn't doubt it, look at their Genesis Coupe. It's affordable performance. Wasn't that the idea behind Pontiac?
  6. Umm...no. I'm sorry, but that is one of the dumbest statements I've seen in a while.
  7. After a few weeks of teasing, Acura has finally revealed the ZDX, its new four-door, luxury crossover "coupe" that is clearly aimed at the similarly proportioned BMW X6. The ZDX wears the now familiar shield grille and sharp styling that has spread across the entire Acura lineup. To further emphasize the crossover's coupiness, Acura designers have hid the rear door handles in the base of the C-pillar. The ZDX rides tall on 20-inch, 9-spoke wheels and also glints under the lights thanks to a number of chrome trim pieces including a pair of shiny dual exhausts out back. Inside you'll find typical Acura luxury with high quality materials arranged in a high-tech package that includes a new multi-view rear camera system with both a wide angle and top down view. The production ZDX will be V6-powered and kept in line by Acura's superb Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. Feel free to poke around the ZDX in our high-res gallery below. It's the best expression yet of Acura's new design language, which has taken some getting used to on its current lineup of sedans. This segment-busting crossover should arrive in dealerships by the fall of 2009, according to Acura. Check out our high-res gallery of live and official shots below, as well as Acura's official press release after the jump.
  8. The door handles are what kills it for you? That's a new one. I will say, they are quite large. Kind of look like fender vents but on the door instead. I like how they upper edge follows the belt line though.
  9. One of the most significant debuts at the 2009 New York Auto Show is undoubtedly the next-generation 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We've just had the chance to see Jeep's new SUV in person ahead of its official unveiling later today, and we're even more impressed with the design in person than in pictures. The clean styling is a departure for the brand, which has lately adhered a bit too closely to its traditional utilitarian box design language. The Wrangler look doesn't work on every vehicle, and thankfully Jeep has softened the Grand Cherokee just enough to look sophisticated, but not so much that it appears incapable of traversing trails. We'll bring you more on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee from its formal debut later in the day, but for now you can peruse our new live shots and the official images from Jeep in the galleries below. 10. Buick should slot between the everyman brand and the high end brand. Simple as that.
  11. Some new photos added. On that note, I really like how it looks in profile. Unmistakably a Grand Cherokee.
  12. Looking past the design, the powertrains look to be very nice...finally the Phoenix V6 series.... 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm with a five-speed automatic. The V* is now 360 hp and 390 lb/ft of torque with a 6-speed automatic...I think this is the first RWD vehicle to get 6 gears. The Offroad hardware, what really makes a Jeep, looks impressive too.
  13. Funny thing is the first gen is my least favorite.
  14. Anyway, I like it, others don't. Nothing said will change that. Same with the Terrain thread.
  15. Maybe you haven't noticed, but while the rest of the Jeep lineup has moved towards boxy styling, the Grand Cherokee has always meant to stand for a more refined Jeep than the rest. That's since the the second gen it has moved away from the ultra boxy character of the Commander, new Liberty, and Patriot. Also, what you're saying is subjective, because apparently others (Autoblog) think "in the metal it looks at once far more aggressive than the exiting lantern-eyed WK". I don't know if I feel it's aggressive or not, but as a package it looks much more refined and upscale and better looking, befitting it's flagship status. Also, I have to ask what makes the greenhouse "generic" If you black out the pillars of the current gen you have essentially the same thing, although with less rake. So is it the blacked out pillars? I guess that makes the X5 generic too then.
  16. I don't really care for the way the NISMO looks, but wow the roadster looks really good. I actually think I like it better than the coupe!
  17. The 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster and 2009 Nissan NISMO 370Z will be unveiled during a live webcast tonight at 7 PM EST, but we've got the details on both models ahead of their official debut. The Roadster retains the same greasy bits as the coupe, but adds open air action in the form of a new power-operated, fully-lined fabric top with a glass rear window. The top automatically connects to the windshield header so the driver doesn't have to fiddle around with a latch and it can be lowered or raised from inside or out, through the use of an interior-mounted switch or a button on the door handle. A glass wind blocker between the headrests keeps buffeting to a minimum without impacting visibility, and although we haven't seen the new 370Z convertible with its top up, we've been assured it's far more attractive than its predecessor. For those who find the standard 370Z too pedestrian for their tastes, a NISMO edition is on its way later this year. Like the last NISMO Z, the 2009 model sports a larger rear wing, new bumper and an aggressive front splitter, along with standard 19-inch RAYS ultra-lightweight wheels shod in Yokohama Advan Sport tires. The suspension and brakes get the usual array of upgrades to make the NISMO more amenable to track use and the VQ V6 gets a bump up from 332 hp to 350 hp at 7,400 rpm, thanks in part to a new exhaust and a revised ECU. Power goes from the close ratio six-speed manual 'box (the only transmission available) to the rear axle through a carbon fiber driveshaft. Press releases and specs for both cars are after the jump, and expect pricing and availablity to be announced before spring gives way to summer. Autoblog
  18. That's not perfect then.
  19. I will admit I do love the GC SRT8...although I wonder if it will die with this generation...
  20. I don't think GM needs brand to combat Scion..it's sales were stagnating and declining before the economy tanked.
