First Look: 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP
I see your point, which is why I hope Pontiac gets some RWD vehicles soon. That is what will make it stand out, and with RWD cars in it's lineup it will have no trouble standing out from the other brands. However, for now Pontiac has crap...and now it has crap with a big, stupid spoiler. Oh and a couple Chevy rebadges. The RWD cars can't come soon enough. Their saving grace is the Solstice, it may not be a volume leader but it's the only thing keeping the image alive.

So I started my first day of work...
So after looking for work since September I've finally got a part-time job delivering for a local Pizza place. I have to say, so far I like it. I mean, I get paid to drive...pretty sweet. Anyway, I decided to to use the Shadow since the Prizm was blocked by another car and I don't really want to use the Intrepid for this kinda thing. So I get to work and start making deliveries, I'd made my first 2 and then was asked to deliver two more orders. Up until now the cars had been running fine...a little noisy (it now has an exhaust leak, after 18 years with it's original exhaust system), but otherwise fine. My first delivery took me to Market Basket, where customer service had ordered some food. I get out, make my delivery and head back to the car. I get in and go to start it...nothing. I then notice nothing is working: no dome light, headlights, gauge lights, door chime, and not even a turn over of the engine. At this point I'm furious because this is my first day and my car has died. So I call my girlfriend and have her bring whichever car is free to the parking lot ASAP. Within a couple of minutes she comes in the Intrepid, and we make the other delivery (and one other) before taking her home. Thank God that the Shadow at least died in a spot she could find me easily, and we have a car that works right. Oh course, the Intrepid finishes the night without fuss...just used up some gas. That night I get home and I'm too tired to give a $h! about the Shadow...so it gets left in the parking lot overnight. This morning we woke up early, and the two of us went to the Shadow. I thought that the problem might have been the battery cable that had been replaced by the mechanic a few weeks prior (the old one had exposed wiring and was cracked), because it had been running fine and the battery is less than a year old. When we got there I jiggled the cable and the dome light came on briefly, but went back off. We had called AAA to have it towed. He arrives, we explain the problem..and of course, on first try it starts up for him. He looks at me and laughs saying "the car must not like you" He shut it off and tried again, but it wouldn't start. Then he jiggled the cable while my girlfriend started it and it worked. So we took it back to the mechanic to have them fix what I believe is there mistake...so hopefully I won't get charged for it...or more specifically my mom (since it's technically her's...my car is the Intrepid). But man..way to start off a new job huh?

2008 Cadillac CTS: Image Gallery
Some angles it looks great, some I'm not so sure...as other have said...it's definitely a car you need to see in person.

First Look: 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP
I watched the 2nd one. It was alright. Nothing special beyond the cool Camaro and Challenger. I see your point, but I don't know how many people Pontiac is targeting will pick this over Civic Si's...I wouldn't.

Honda Accord Coupe Concept
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)From some angles this car looks very good...hard to blieve one can say that about an Accord. From other however it looks awkward, however that may be the result of bad camera work on Honda's part.

What a laff
- First Look: 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP
I'm 20...so I'm in the target demographic...and I find it hideously tacky and would be embarrassed to be seen in something that tacky...stock!- 2008 Cadillac CTS official photos
Now here's an angle I like (from MT's site)- GM Wins Car AND Truck of the Year!!
Here's the link. http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?.../1056/autoshows Great new for GM, I'm somewhat surprised the Aura one, but what they said in the podcast makes sense. The Camry is a little better, the Fit is good but 4 years old, but the Aura represents a revolution at Saturn and GM.- 2007 Toyota Tundra CrewMax
Intrepidation replied to Variance's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I'd rather have a Ram MegaCab...you know, the one that invented the super-stretch crew cab? The vehicle that has been innovative? The one that doesn't look like someone at Hyundai shoved a Ram full of lard and badged it as a Toyota? Yeah...Ram for me...or F-150...or Silverado...Sierra...Titan...- 2008 Cadillac CTS official photos
I wonder if aluminum trim will be available instead of that stupid carbon fiber stuff. So far the pic with the wood looks best, and it's very pretty...is it real wood?- 2008 Infiniti QX56
Intrepidation replied to Variance's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)What's different about the exterior? All I know is it still has that ugly "hump" The front end doesn't look different enough o tell to me. The interior is an improvement, but that steering wheel is flat and ugly.- What a laff
Sure I can see why some people would take offense to driving vehicles from certain countries of origin that did some pretty horrible things in the past. However, I don't think that we should hold grudges against other countries. No country is perfect, certainly not us.- 2008 Ford Focus
Intrepidation replied to Flybrian's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I see your point. Plus, I know someone who had a Focus 5-door wagon. Even with teh extra mass of teh wagon body style the 2.0 was still quite peppy and it was a fun car to drive...too bad he totaled it (supposedly, though I never saw) Yeah, but it's nice to see a coupe return to the small car lineup.- What a laff
This type of thread keeps appearing every now and then.- 2008 Subaru Legacy/Outback
Intrepidation replied to Variance's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I like it, I've always thought these were fine cars and they should get more credit/sales than they do. Everyone I know who owns even the previous gen Outback loves them.- New Year Car Spotting
A red Mazdaspeed3 It was pretty sweet.- 2008 Ford Focus
Intrepidation replied to Flybrian's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Sometimes larger wheel size can help performance as well as looks. It should just be an option. Anyway, even though we are (not surprisingly) still not getting the Euro Focus, I think this is a nice change, and if the chassis refinements are good enough than it should be a fine car. I just wish they didn't drop the 2.3L. Honestly? Where's the logic in that? Would it really cost Ford more tyo leave the engine as an option in what's pretty much the same car? COnsidering there are cars on teh market putting close to 300 hp...this 2.0L really isn't enough.- First Look: 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP
Oh god that's a tacky-riced out ugly mofo. I'll take the GTO...whatever happened to the nicer looking sedan concept?- 2008 Cadillac CTS official photos
The interior looks great, the exterior I think I like but the weird angles make it hard to judge. Where on edmunds is this CTS article/video? I can't find it.- Why you don't tow with a Lada
- Toyota Stages World Debut of All-New 2007 Tundra CrewMax @ NAIAS
Constructive posts huh? Ok I have Zero respect for this truck because: It brings nothing new to the segment It's volume engine is lackluster compared to GM's It's styling is a mishmash of other styles and looks like a Korean knockoff of a Ram, it has no real originality If anything it's inspired by the Tacoma (which I actually like), but the Super Size styling doesn't work for this truck. In person the Extended Cab is not bad but this is just too much And finally...This is Toyota's 3rd go at the market and they not only haven't brought anything new to the table, they didn't even get it quite right.Sure, the interior looks pretty nice, but it doesn't look well suited for being a work truck, and even in the truck I sat in, it had that dead button on the dash, which looked horribly cheap.Nissan got it right on their first try, and brought innovations to the market. The Titan may not be pretty, and it's quality is still lacking, but I can respect Nissan for doing a fine job on their first attempt. I cannot respect Toyota for still screwing up. I suppose they will say 5 years later they did this "on purpose to give the Big 3 a break" like the previous trucks? - First Look: 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP
