  2. LOL! I'll have to keep that in mind next time any of my MCs get "blessed" with bird poop . Looks like the forecast from late last week/this weekend was correct; we are under a Winter Weather Advisory (had been a Winter Storm Warning) until noon on Monday. Translation ... the older 4 MCs have seen roads for the last time in 2008. That also means I'm officially late in obtaining a winter beater to keep the '87 MC LS out of the snow/salt.... And ... a few other points I thought of AFTER I posted originally.... ...Given that at least one weekend I drove ~100 miles per MC, had just ONE (1) weekend in October been decent weather (along with me being available to get the cars out), all of the older 4 MCs would've had over 1,000 miles on them for the first time in one year...! Arg...I was "oh so close" to that 1,000 mile mark...and would've also managed to hit some other mileage milestones.... Ah, well ... a goal and some milestones to look forward to in 2009, perhaps.... ...ironically, all of the "back road exploring" I did in this area in 2008 gave me the highest total miles on each of them in a year period ... despite none of them going to the 2008 MC Nationals or the 2008 NMCOA Mini Meet in Stillman Valley IL (I drove the '87 MC LS to that). ...I drove all of my MCs over 13,500 miles ... and that doesn't include the miles I put on rental cars for road trips.... ...If I can find a "winter" car of sorts, the '87 MC LS will see significantly less miles in 2009....
  3. True...I know. But, holy cow ... with the advertisements on TV and radio ... as well as signs at dealerships, you'd think people would have a better clue .
  4. Ahhh...that'd be sweet if it was! And, "me, too" about the A and G bodys!

  6. ...to total up the miles driven in 2008 and put the older Monte Carlos away for the winter ... this time, including the '87 MC LS, if I can find a satisfactory "winter" (and possibly "road trip") car.... Sunday, November 23 ... I drove the older 4 MCs for the first time in over a month, due in part to not-so-nice weather on the weekends and other plans. I filled each gas tank and added StaBil to each one, so they are ready for winter storage, when that time actually arrives. I almost had 'em all out on Thanksgiving Day, but a certain 2-week-old nephew made it hard to leave the house that Thursday.... So, instead, Friday, November 28 (another sunny, relatively warm day in Chicagoland) ... I drove them again, about 50 miles each. As I've done all year, I chose a mostly-new "path" to drive. The more I explore around here, the more I'm reminded of different places I've visited during my road trips.... If the forecast for the next few days holds true, November 28 might be the last time I drive the older 4 MCs this year. So, I calculated how many miles I've driven each of the MCs in 2008. Turns out, despite the high gas prices for the summer driving season, I drove the older 4 MCs nearly DOUBLE the miles I drove them in 2007. Go figure. 14. I expect you will be...wow...what a Thanksgiving Day to remember.... My goodness...what a FAST week this has been! Can anyone else hardly believe Thanksgiving has come and gone ... ALREADY??!!! Anyway ... since I haven't been online since Sunday, November 23 ... HAPPY (belated) THANKSGIVING! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I spent Thanksgiving with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and 2-week-old nephew. We watched the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, had breakfast around 10:30/11a (once my sister, bro-in-law and nephew arrived), lounged around, watched some football (GO TITANS!), had the Thanksgiving feast around 4p, relaxed, and played games, including carrom, until about 10:30p. It was such a beautiful day (sunny, "fairly" warm) that I ALMOST went to get the older 4 MCs out. Instead, I decided to wait until Friday when I could get 'em out for a longer time period and not have to be home by a certain time for dinner. Besides, a certain 2-week-old nephew made it hard to leave the house Thanksgiving day...he he. 16. ...the automotive world? Personally, I got started at an early age. Due to my heart issues, I was never very active so I turned to what I could do ... play with my model cars. As I grew older, the love affair with the Monte Carlo started when Mom and Dad bought their '76 MC...and continued from there: http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/mcstory.html So...how about you? 17. Last week, I overheard someone tell someone else in the midst of a conversation: "We're all nobody to somebody." After a slight pause, the other one replied: "Or, put another way ... Everybody is nobody to somebody." They laughed and starting talking about something else entirely...and I tuned them out again. *shrugs* I've no idea how or why that exchange stuck out to me, but it did. Guess it sounded odd at the time, but then got me thinking.... Anyway ... have you ever overheard something that just sounded...weird? If so...share! 18. Sure! As long as it IS a Monte Carlo (i.e. RWD, MC emblem, MC bodylines, etc.).
  19. I sure hope you do type that story up. IIRC, you told me at least part of it when I visited you earlier this year. 24. Virtually the same situation here, XP. Everytime Olds Guy posts a model, I try to find it around here ... and most of the time, nada. *sighs* Then again, that's probably a good thing, since I usually want everything he posts!
