Yeah...it is true that the cars from one time period to another always seem to have a similar "look"...So, if you analyze the "design style" many cars look like each other, it is hard to escape that. Many ofther same designers worked for different companies too, and that contributes to the shared look, same is true today, I see GM designs in many of the new Kia & Hyundai designs, as well because many ex GM designers went to those companies. I do hope we will have a few more people submit some designs here too, it is a bit of a challenge to do this as you have to think "retro" as to what could have been done back in the day...this was a great concept for a contest. THX Drew. So anyway, when I complete the one other view I am working on I will post all of them up as attachments for a final,there should be 4 pictures in the set all of which are related to each other by the same basic design.

^ these were the first ideas I had for this concept (after the 90's versions which were the wrong models !!)... the Bottom Black one was intended to be a performance version..."bonneville" I called it...but the post above with that Catalina is the "shiz"...Muscle cars were getting quite Rare in the 70's....that one above would have been a REAL kicker with a 350 or a (sshhh) 428 in it !!!! I think we can DQ these 2, ( they actually look more like Grand Prix models, IMO.)...but you SEE I had redone the "C" Pillar already to be more angled,...I do have one More coming up for you....LOL, I need that Toronado !!

Now ....If you want a " performance version "....Call this a Catalina, which according to the information posted here by 98, the Grand Ville is a Luxo model & the Catalina a base model...so, of course you would make the performance model from the base car, so it could kick some ass : See what I am say'in ?...OK. Yes ..I followed the "logic" of DF's Design strategy on this, but kept it in line with the GV design as well, & I did redo the back "c" pillar to be more like the original (2nd post - the black car) design I put up here. I tell ya what...If Pontiac had made this....I would Buy one today, cuz it's just a Smok'in Look !...IMO.

& OK, cool info on the GV ...so anyway, here is the Back Side View, call it whatever you like, but this is translated from the first "Catalina" I posted here into the correct Year & Body style. It dose match up with the Grand Ville design posted previously, pretty close anyway,...so you have a Front & Back on that one.

& Pontiac Grand Ville, this was a model made in the 70's I think, and the name kinda fits with the concept here IMO.

OK,...the correct model years...THX Drew,...front half versions here, back halves to follow...these are the standard (Catalina) & performance (Bonneville) versions of each model. I ALSO LIKE THE IDEA OF A SMALL SPORT CADDY ..as you see from my picture, the Eldorado XLR version here, Caddy dose NEED a sport model to compete aka MB, BMW...etc. with the demise of the XLR they have nothing there, a SKY/SOLSTICE Caddy would fit perfectly IMO.

YEP...Penske wants to buy Saturn....to sell Renault Samsung cars at Saturn dealers !...who is renault samsung ???...: Samsung Motors (also known as SMI) was built on the will of the Samsung group's chairman, Kun Hee Lee, who regarded the automotive industry as a sum of many industries. For the group, this would have meant the co-operation and binding together of its many subsidiaries, such as Samsung Electrics and Samsung Electronics. Nevertheless, his plan was cut short by the Asian financial crisis, and soon after its establishment, the group jettisoned SMI, together with other non-core subsidiaries. SMI was up for sale, firstly to Daewoo Motors, which was itself hit by the same crisis and was bought by GM. Hyundai Motors was also considered as a suitor, but politics and strife between Samsung group and Hyundai group made this impossible. Coupled with his personal affection for cars, Mr. Lee's dream of building SMI as a global force started out with technical assistance from Nissan, a company which at the time of SMI's early stages was in dire financial straits. SMI's affiliation with Nissan could have been one of the reasons for Renault buying a major share of the company, as Renault had become a major shareholder of Nissan by then. One of the very early planners for SMI has stated that technical affiliations for SMI were initially considered with either Volkswagen or Honda. Also, Nissan has supplied SMI with its engines, one of them being Nissan's famed V6 engines the VQ25DE, currently replaced by the VQ35DE. Also, it should be noted that Renault is continuing the use of 'Samsung' name until 2020[1] under a license agreement with the Samsung group. It remains to be seen how long Samsung will allow the use of its brand to RSM, and how it will play its remaining 19.9% of shares.
