  1. '56 Nic-L-Silver Vectress prototype (fate unknown) :
  2. Every serial goes thru the Bell Curve of inspiration... not sure yet where ST is on that line.
  3. We did Stranger Things here earlier in the year; enjoyed it.
  4. False equivalency.
  5. Legal tender is legal tender; it's all good. But the circa $75K tier is not the mainstream segment of the market. In order for IC bans to possibly work, there needs to be a wide selection at the median vehicle price.... or HALF that number.
  6. ^ For blu on the far right; a regular cab/ long bed base Sierra with a 5.3L. $40K sticker.
  7. I made a mistake; that's actually a 3500. Yes- they sit higher. HD suspensions and much beefier frames.
  8. ^ 3 of the above 4 vehicles are actual, real vehicles. - - - - - Mach-E review gives hope that it's a hit for Ford.
  9. Brand new Sierra Denali 3500HD Duramax 6.6L/ Allison 10-spd on the left. Sticker was $83K. That’s my desired Pacific Blue Elevation on the right, except it was a 2.7L Double cab. Purty in person tho.
  10. It's not size, it's 'tech' that equals weight. That's not going to go away. But more to my point- it's BATTERIES that are bringing massive weight increases in. That's the next frontier for EV makers to innovate- reducing battery WEIGHT. Imagine a Model S weighing 4000 lbs (900 lbs lighter).
  11. We’ve all read pointed commentary about how many huge trucks are out there, all that road-destroying weight, and the consequences in accidents. Now were going to add a literal ton of MORE weight and make them go 0-60 in 3 seconds. I’m really curious what discussions the insurance industry is having right now
  12. Lucid : yet another luxury plaything.
  13. 8000 lbs isn't a failure weight, but a safety 'buffer' point. 7000 lbs would be fine on a 8000 lb lift. Hummer has to be over 8000 base weight. My buddy has a shop with (3) 2-post lifts. I helped him install all 3, and I believe one is 12K lbs. 5-6 years later and nothing's broken, came loose or cracked.
  14. Learned my local Cadillac dealer is NOT one of the 150+ that opted out, so they're staying in the game. Salesman was telling me of the some of the upgrades- neither the Chevy-Cadillac dealer, or the Buick-GMC store across the street has chargers right now, so dedicated lines have to be installed, set up the logistics of having cars come in to charge. He said GMC is getting one of the Hummer Edition Ones, and there's a whole register/verify/deposit thing before you can even test drive it. Also said they have to install a stronger lift, because all they have is 8000lb lifts, so apparently the Hummer EV is going to curb well above 8K. Amazing considering a Yukon is what- 6000?
  15. DROVE a '21 Silverado High Country Duramax today. Pretty NICE (should be with a sticker of $66K).
  16. Kudos to Cadillac for keeping Hi-Po sedans in their catalogue. Going to say it tho; via the above pic, that 3-D button looks kinda crappy in quality. Hopefully just the pic.
  17. I have toyed with the idea of building my own, have made some sketches, went the funeral home to get the basic dimensions. Not car-oriented, different woods, cast iron tub claw feet, with a bunch of tiny drawers in the rear wall. Going to have a barrel of rusty metal by the door, and viewers can scatter a handful in my box as they filter by (if anyone shows). I just don't have the room to store it if I do.
  18. Well... let's let it happen before we pop the sham-pog-knee.
  19. Duh on cargo vs. towing; my flub. 'webs says a new F-650 weighs an average of 8300lbs and has a max GVWR of 37,000lbs. That'd be a cargo capacity of 28,700 lbs. Would like to see hard numbers of the electric F-650 vs. the diesel; sounds like a huge disparity. Go back even farther- it was 94% in 1944. Maybe that was "fair". Top rate was 28% beginning in 1986 (Tax Reform Act); highest rate from 2018-2021 is 37%, plus the ACA surcharge of 3.8% which makes the maximum 40.8%. So over 32 years, it's higher, not steadily lower. But yes; 50 years back it was 70%. (~ Bradfordtaxinstitute.com) With the steaming hot politicized mess the fiscal picture in the U.S. is, it's hard to peg where to put the pin. IMO, if that could get streamlined and made efficient, that question could be answered. Alas; that's hopeless.
  20. Is that a typo?? 8500 lbs is less than any F-150.
  21. cah-NAH-dah :
  22. As mentioned in other thread- cancelling that KBB appointment. Going to see about stopping in at my local dealer tomm and starting The Talk.
