  1. If they’re paying $150/yr for push mower maintenance, perhaps they consider that a perk of a luxury lifestyle. Or; dey’s a dummy.
  2. Spring & fall mower maintenance... extensive spark plugs...??? Do you have ‘mower OCD’?? I’ve had the same spark plug in my mower.... I couldn’t even guess how many years. I don’t get where all the hyping up of IC engine maintenance is coming from. It’s not a burden at all. So; no then. Gotcha.
  3. Is there a 'good for the money' battery mower?
  4. Lot of choices out there. I looked at the Ego 21-in self-propelled mower linked here https://www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/lawn-mowers/push-mowers/7006686 It's $650. Can grab a C-man B & S self-propelled 21-in for $269. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-M230-163-cc-21-in-Self-Propelled-Gas-Push-Lawn-Mower-with-Briggs-Stratton-Engine/1000673809?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-sol-_-google-_-lia-_--_-walkbehindmowers-_-1000673809-_-0&placeholder=null&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2af-BRDzARIsAIVQUOe2ByRRx2KkLtzVFsre_OsHLhEfsxMMW6jBAWWnVILQ4ZV4AB2e-kcaAmblEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Those seem pretty comparable.
  5. I would never use a Grease Monkey / Jiffy Lube- heard a handful of horror stories. I've changed my own oil for decades now. Rule of thumb is; I'm fine if I don't have to jack the vehicle up. The exception here is the Jeep Liberty; don't have to jack it up but getting the filter out is a PITA, so I don't do it. Actually got the Chevy dealer to change it last time! Bet they don't see many Jeeps in there. Have a very good service department there... but I have not & won't wait in a dealer / service outfit while my vehicle is worked on. Drives me crazy.
  6. - - - - - I also don’t necessarily like to drop off a truck loaded with tools to a guy with a monster toolbox he uses for his job.
  7. Sure, but you’re paying an extra 20 grand to avoid oil changes. To each, his own. ?
  8. NAPA Gold (made by Wix) is $18. I had bought a case of them some years ago; then I think they were $7 or $9 ea, but I only have one left. Last time I bought a 3-gal case of Rotella-T @ Costco- it was $30. That’s a $48 oil change. It takes me less time to change my own oil than schedule/ drop off/ wait/ go pick up than for me to do it myself at my whim in my driveway. Disposal is thru the county- once every couple years I ride about 2 miles and drop off all hazard chems I may have accumulated. Easy-peasy.
  9. How’s that possible? I change my own about every 6000, so slightly LESS than twice a year. Cost me about $50.
  10. Anyone need any stat/spec question for 1983 answered?
  11. Motor Trend, Nov 1979 : Saab 900 Turbo ~ wheelbase 99", OL 187", curb weight 2760 (!!!), 4-spd manual, 3.89 axle, 121CI turbo/injected I-4. In addition to the above, it was the Buick Century Turbo Buick Regal Turbo Buick LeSabre Sport Coupe Buick Riviera S Chevy Monte Carlo Ford Mustang Cobra Ford Fairmont Merc Capri Turbo Merc Zephyr Porsche 924 Turbo and Mercedes 300SD. Here, the turbo raised the unblown diesel's 77 HP to a whopping 110. - - - - - Car & Driver Jan 1979 : Pontiac Trans Am ~ WB 108", OL 198", curb weight 3700, 4-spd man, 3.23 axle, 400 CI 4bbl V8. 12. Same deal as electric cars. It's great, it's quiet, it's double the price. Husquevarna 16" gas chainsaw : $180 Ego 16" chainsaw : $300. All depends on what you want to budget for something.
  13. Right now about .28 / gal. I'd have to look in my log, but I drive about 10K per year (2018: 9600 miles). 10K miles per year @ 16 MPG = 625 gals x 2.01 = $1256 / yr. 10K miles per year @ 21 MPG = 476 gals x 2.29 = $1090 / yr. annual fuel savings: $166. Duramax pays for itself in 6.02 years. I've been in my current truck for 14.
  14. Stopped at my local dealer this afternoon - had a Silverado RST Duramax, but short bed. No good. 'cross the street at GMC, had an Elevation Double Cab / standard bed 5.3L. No good (& sold). But I like the Elevation in person, and tho I'd still like it 1-2 inches lower, it's pretty appealing to me (as a crew cab / standard bed). Saw a perfect Elevation online.... in Wyoming. ?
  15. Question: does the nature of BEV platforms push these vehicles to being Body On Frame (vs. unibody)? Ideally, the 'skateboard' concept GM pioneered would be ideal to reducing costs of building variants.
  16. ^ I expect the Ford-Rivian venture to dissolve also. Company A cannot successfully compete with Company B by buying Company B's product and revamping it. Plus, don't forget Ford's in-house truck EV platform under development.
  17. Yo, Horse; don't you need one of these for your shop?? It's in my way over here.
  18. ^ “10’s of thousands” of a $160K sedan??? Ooookkkkaaaayyyyyy!!! Tesla sold like 14K Model S’s at $90K last year, and undoubtedly less this year... and NEXT year. The Lucid jobs will be there... IF the volume is there. Pretty monstrous question.
  19. >>”Is a zero emission transition possible by 2030”<< Not possible. MAYBE by 2050. Understand your industry.
  20. Mid 40s to low 50s over next 10 days here. I think we got the last warm day Monday- was 65 but it rained most of the day.
  21. '73 boattail Riviera, burgandy w/ white half top, super mint, motoring into self-storage place, likely for winter hibernation.
  22. It's not new; coding & electronics in autos have been around for 40 years. Yes; there will always be issues with vehicles, and more & more complex (and some would argue; unnecessary) electronics will keep that fire burning... forever.
  23. There's a Sierra in transit listed @ $48.1K, tho it's 180 miles from me. I sat in a '19 Silverado last year... but I haven't driven one of these yet... and I'd REALLY like to test a TD out. I looked at Ram's site a few times, but they are more expensive relative to GMs. Ford ties the diesel into elevated packages/trims I don't need.
  24. More 'uh-oh'. Might go toward explaining the police car EV / IC comparison showing EVs with much higher maintenance costs. Buyer beware : https://autos.yahoo.com/electric-cars-problems-latest-consumer-213700323.html
