^ True, dat. There's a reason the '70s japanese trucks were replaced; they were horrible. And the reason none are left by the '90s is the dreaded tin worm.

As a gag, looked at the Rivian R1T configurator. This 'new normal' where everything beyond 2 colors is $1500 extra is REE-DICK-U-LUSS. [Emphasis on 'dick']. So there's like almost no options, but as I abhor extremely light colors, I had to click on a $1500 surcharge to get a non-light color. $69 grand for a truck with a Gladiator-size bed, and a useless 'cargo tunnel' I can't think of a use for. Rivian is officially out for me.

Gov't will not allow only domestic power-equipment companies to supply the U.S. It was so disappointing that the wind turbine market (parts/tech) was quickly swallowed nearly whole by China; it was a clean break that could've 'created jobs' and disallowed 'foreign controls over our power'. Opportunity squandered. Same will happen upon any vast increases in the 'renewables' segments. It's like Gov't's foot hurts, so it chainsaws one hand off so the foot 'feels better'. Bill Nye is yet another who fails to see the big picture. -
We're the same age, Horse. I was really good forever, but the last year or so has taken me basically to 'wake up & see what hurts today' status. Rivian -for me- has a useless bed. That 'cargo tunnel' lopped like 1.5 feet out of it. But shouldn't be too difficult to build a bed version without it. But I'm not paying $70 grand for a truck.

But they're not SOLD with those.

$50 grand and steel 'spare rim' wheels. Land Rover = junk.

Right, but it's on 'the list' of PHEVs / BEVs. For true BEVs, 2019 ran Tesla, Tesla, Chevy, Tesla, nissan.

^ To clarify; the GM-to-Cadillac offer is to ALL dealerships; 880 is the total number of Cadillac dealers right now.

Clyde Revord has (22) Sierras ~ 1500 base : $34K Elevation : $46K, $51K, $52K. SLE : $49K (3) AT4s @ $65K (7) Denalis : $67K - $70K. They're not "all $70K"... -

My dealer right now has only (5) 1500s :: (2) W/Ts @ $41K, (2) Elevations @ $52K - $54K, and (1) SLT @ $60K. Other local dealer has (12) :: (7) Elevations from $45K - $52K, and (3) Denalis from $69K - $70K. There's no "$100,000" Sierra 1500s as you claimed; I don't believe you can option one that high. The 2 $70K Denalis are the first I've seen here starting with a '7'. These are MSRPs, BTW, the advertised prices are lower; the $70K Denalis are tagged at $62K. -

Your numbers are way off. Rivian STARTS where the Silverado High County & GMC Denali stop. I look at the sierra locator regularly- I haven’t seen a Denali over $70K, even if its possible to option one up that high; they don’t seem to be getting built that loaded. -

200K plus trucks per year? At those prices??? They’ll be enormously fortunate to sell 15K in ‘21. -

Atlis has been deathly quiet for what seems like a year now, but their site still says 2021 they'll have a 6.5' bed 4x4 EV starting at $45K. Kinda wonky up front, but I like it better than the Rivian. We'll see... but I don't buy first MODEL generation vehicles, I'm certainly not going to buy a first BRAND generation vehicle.

I'm actively shopping right now for a 1500. And I'm certainly mentally willing to work for many more years, but my body is starting to argue with that. Tow ratings around 9000 seem fine (I think my 2500HD is around 11.2K). I'm terrifically smitten by the 3.0L TD at GM, what a great powertrain via the specs. I don't like delivery. I prefer to handle it all myself. If I have to go to the store to pick the materials anyway, I might as well haul it right there. One job I got 16' Trex decking, I borrowed a trailer and hauled it myself. I'm not sure the box stores have the capacity to deliver those lengths anyway. Another job I had to move 20-foot fencing pipes, I used my truck w/ a rig I built to go into the hitch receiver. My truck is holding up the 'truck cards' of 1000 short bed Denali's. The only job I had materials delivered was for an entire house construction. :p My #1 issue is finding a crew cab / 6.5-ft bed. They're hella scarce among the Big 4 as it is, but most of the proposed EV trucks don't offer that, and I don't expect they will; those will have to come from GM / Ford / Ram.
