  1. Just watched the '65 Riviera one. It's tough; I'm fine with letting something like that, once it's given up all it's viable parts, just rot into eternity, but you can't do that with 500,000,000 vehicles.
  2. ^ There's nothing fantastic in there.
  3. Guy I bought some B-59 pieces from is selling his bucket-seat, A/C Electra 225. Not sure if the non-original interior colors are going to affect the value (probably); he's asking $125K.
  4. Dodge Chicago plant, built 1942. 'Machine Shop' in lower left was 82 ACRES in size- then the largest single building under one roof. Most of the WWII B-29s were built here. Post-war, the Tucker Corporation occupied a section of it for a too-brief period.
  5. In Princeton at least; IMAGE.
  6. Owner says he's in north Jersey.
  7. Known with affection in the V8 Buick world as... "The Beater" :
  8. You realize gas then was like 25 cents per gal. Cadillacs in the mid-century got surprisingly good mileage. Early 50's cars could get up to 20 MPG... but back in the late '30s, gearing was higher to offset the lower power-weight ratios of the day. At least (from a MPG standpoint)- they were all manuals in '38. Of course, MPG was of no concern then in general, and especially to Cadillac owners specifically. Much like a 15-MPG mercedes was in 2015.
  9. That’s ‘German engineering’ for you.
  10. Yeah, but the Chevette was a proper longitudinal-oriented, RWD Scooter ( see what I did there, ocn?), whereas the escort was a disposable appliance. I understand sentimentality; occasionally I think back to the family Safari I started driving on... but I think there’s a clear line between sentiment and enthusiasm.
  11. There CANNOT be 'love for an Escort' out there in the car world. I refuse to believe it.
  12. Unfortunately... it's pretty sad. https://rivian.com/
  13. 301 came out in ‘77 at PMD, but would have to look up availability in the Firebirds.
  14. I believe the 455 went thru '76 in the Firedbirds (unlike Chevy- who killed their big block after '73 or '74 in the 'maro). 301 N/A is lethargic, but the 4.9L Turbo moves well for '80-81. No; it's no Super Duty.
  15. I may have stated this once before. I don't know anyone personally with a Tesla (or any other EV). I would happily drive one given the opportunity. I'll try (almost) anything once. • Last time I was at one occasional customer's house, I saw he had a Tesla charger installed on his garage wall, but the car wasn't there that day. • The next-door neighbor to my parent's has a white Model 3; their charger is on the outside side wall of their garage (?), but I've never spoken with them. My father says the owner likes it tho. That's it. I do a lot of work in Princeton NJ, a high income area (2018 median income: $138K). None of those customers of mine has an EV tho.
  16. I'm still waiting for the (Star Trek) Replicator. Where's the work being done on that??
  17. ^ Is that from GoT? - - - - - People should speak for themselves, not project their beliefs / narrative on others. The concept that a person is "afraid" of a given Thing simply because their preference is elsewhere is wildly erroneous, and it's projection. I'm not afraid of Volvos because I prefer Pontiacs & Buicks, I just have no use or appreciation for volvos.
  18. I just bothered to watch the BMW commercial vid in the opening post. Wow. That's easily the worst ad for an automotive product I've ever seen. Run a string of biting, negative commentary from (assumedly) real people, meanwhile attempting to dispell that criticism with smug, knowing smiles from paid actors. GREAT JOB, Bimmer!
  19. Soo-BAR-oo. I like.
  20. Robert lives in a Star Trek HoloDeck; a 'construct' I believe it's termed, where neo-futurism details convince the participants they're in an alternate reality, and the commonplace is 'strange'. It's a form of escapism.
  21. LOL - what a waste of time & money!! Bizarre. 'cause it absolutely looks like an entry-level offering.
